I am a daily follower of your content and have been for a couple years now. This is the first video of yours that I have watched 3 times in a row because it was just so fun to see you have so much fun. Great job CGGandalf.
I could easily watch three more hours of cgb playing this deck. Synergy between each card and oracle of the alpha adding the power nine multiple times make it very fun to watch.
Also, that gandalf and mox artifacts synergy was the cherry on the top.
I want to watch like 30 more hours of this deck

I love hoe excited CGB got playing this deck. The small synergies of Soul Partition, Divine Purge and Reprieve, combined with One Ring, Fragment, Oracle and Soul Partition make the deck incredibly fun to watch. The Lord of the Rings Books are my jam, and its this kind of enthusiasm that fills me with the kind of joy I felt exploring that world.
One of the things I like about occasional alchemy content is that when cards are new and the format is unfamiliar, you see people make misplays and misinterpret cards way more often. It makes each turn seem a bit more unpredictable and less rote

Imagine playing standard with monored aggro and soldiers, instead of alchemy with dimir power9 and orzhov knights. Absolute lunacy.

Those were some crazy sequences, I love how that Elrond player stuck around when you achieved the power of the gods in that game.
First game, opponent not using the Halfling was painful to watch.
I've been playing MTG since 93' and on Arena for years. As a fellow control player, I've stuck to Standard and avoided Alchemy... until this deck. This is the most fun I've had paying Magic in years. You pulled me over to the dark side CGB! Thanks for an amazing deck.

Reprieve and Divine Purge just seem like super powerful tools for control
Also more than twice as many counterspells as standard. Control is actually pretty good in alchemy, which is wild.

Imagine being able to play a new LOTR set, and you go full monored like the degenerate from Game 2
So The Ring is busted, as we all kinda expected. But I think the big takeaway here is the great interaction between Divine Purge and Reprieve. In alchemy/historic, Purge's perpetual cost increase barely mattered because the second time it came down it went to the yard and was never cast again. But by reprieving it you're making them pay extra again.
The most telling sign of a good control deck is that you are the only one at the table having fun.
oracle might be the only reason to play alchemy imo, atleast until wotc caves and adds vintage *fingers crossed

Alchemy is a lot more powerful than I realized!
Its not really that alchemy is a lot more powerful, is that control is pretty good there, and its unplayable in standard. Aggro/midrange decks aren't that different from standard.
This is absolutely disgusting and I think we blue mages need a 24h stream of just this. A legacy for the ages.

15:45 why didn't you just cast one of the Calim's before Timetwistering? You would have had lethal on board going into the extra turn from the Time Walk you'd already cast.
Kumano Faces Kakkazahn is nerfed in Alchemy and people DON'T like the format? Sounds like a refreshing change of pace

The first game reminded me on my one run with the lantern cube on arena right now, had 10 copies of the power 9 in my deck so I pretty much just won once I hit my first timetwister
@@skc419 You can only get them put into your deck midgame through an alchemy card called "Oracle of the Alpha" with it's enter the battlefield trigger

CGB is actually just Gollum confirmed.
Without wildcards I had to replace 1 The one ring with a Key to the archive and all of the Djinn with Vesuvan Mist. After adding some black sources to the deck This version performs pretty well adding Approach the 2nd son and the opponent's deck as potential wincons
