Stephen King is the Charles Dickens of our time. His books are all horror, either, which many people don't know, especially those who haven't read him. He's an amazing writer. Think of Misery - suspenseful but not horror. Same with Stand by Me, many more. Love him.
Great writer! I don't know if he's the gratest, but he's amazingly good. Said that I had a particular reason to be grateful to Stephen King. He was my first and best english teacher. Thanks Stevie
Pet Cemetery was my favorite. It is a slow buildup to the climax. If you like to watch him set up the dominoes for a few hundred pages just so he can knock them down, you will enjoy it.
The mist was a good movie the alien monsters scared the shit out of me when I saw it in theatres, Mostly because I knew what was coming after reading the book, which is another thing I like It had the books story and more of an ending.
Stephen King is a brilliant author and IT was amaising; I couldn't put it down! But the film was dissapointing in places. The Shining was very good to, as was Carrie and frankly all of his books! I would seriously recomend you read IT. Also, it's amasing how a man of his age survived that with such a good recovery. His is honestly my favorite author along with Torey Hayden.Oh, and he is NO where NEAR a kid author, he scared the hell out of me.
dreamcatcher's a good book. i read it at the end of my pregnancy, and then when i was in labour it was on tv and i didnt know it, i was watching it and was like, hey, i think this is the book i just read. i couldnt watch it tho - i own it now lol - but omg so graphic
I hate to say this but Dostoievsky is also in that category. I mean, I tried reading the guy with love and everything but it bored me to death. Maybe I had to switch to something of my century, like King, or Grisham, stuff like that.
I'm confused, I've read The Mist as short story, was there then an extended version released as novella? Cheers Salem's Lot is the best fiction ever written
soontobehorrorwriter: I am guessing you have never used a fountain pen. Right? Cuz, if you had, you would know that they are not as easy to use as more modern types of pens. I'm gonna be 51 this year, and have not touched a fountain pen in at least 40 years. It's a legit point for the interviewer to emphasize, IMHO.

LOL brian smith died. I loved how he smiled a little when he said that.
read the dark tower series. he basically describes the whole accident in the books.
I know. That was a slip of the finger. Read my follow up post. But you're right, he's simply a wonderful writer.

The man is a god on this planet.
IT!!
i remember the man in the black suit. It was good, but i liked 1408 better...and the gothic cafe.
my fave novel by him is Rose Madder.
I was thinking the same thing.
dream catcher was excellent, the movie

read The Stand...
why do you think dream catcher is so not up to the standard of a good movie?
Hile Gunslinger.
