Great tip for burning the dots never seen that one before, great project
Hey Stumpy, I really like the burned pits idea much easier than messing around with laminating different woods.
This is a great video, super simple but very clean looking. I loved the technique for the pips, genius.
Very cool project! I like some of the techniques shown too.
To impress those lady domino players lol that was the moment I clicked like
Its been a good domino week. I saw the aluminium domino video by Brian Oltrogge and now your wooden version. I like the scorging method! Its nice to see dominoes without festool printed all over it.
It's always fun to learn something new, and the dowel to make the pits is a great idea. So much easier than attaching a wood burner to the drill press.
+WigWagWorkshop - Thanks! I got that idea from a really old issue of Wood magazine.
One of my students was asking if she could do dominoes as her next project. After watching your video, I've decided the whole class is going to do it and we will have a domino party/tournament when we are all done. And of course we will do a domino snake event too. Thanks for your great videos:-)
I believe Rockler sells a special jig for making dominos. Maybe check that option out, too :)
Cool project I liked it and burning those dots was neat. Nice video too.
Awesome. I think that would be a fun project to make for the family. Can't have too many games.
Awesome burning technique!
Nice project!! All the cool kids play dominoes.
Awesome. Just what I was looking for!
Wow ! That's really cool, I like they way you burned the pits :)
Legitimately had this idea and figured I RUclips it to see if it’s been done before. Awesome video
Nice work by the way!
Cool project!
Nice Bones Stumpy!
:)
Chris
Great dominoes Stumpy, the only thing missing are the brass centers as stated before. Also, from a player's perspective, the back of the dominoes should be as "plain" or regular throughout the set. A smart player could identify the piece from looking at specific details in the grain. Perhaps some plain color veneer or something similar could work. Cheers!!
Great gift idea.
Good stuff. Thank u
Nice. I like how you burned the pips.
I will bet festool is having a fit! First the tool and now this....It never stops! :-0)
Ok wrong domino....I get it.
nice gift idea, thanks
Found you recently, do you still have the domino pattern available?
Did I miss the rounding-over of the outer box edges, and the beveling of the inner ones ?
"pips," people, not "pits." Stumpy got it right but I guess folks misheard. Same word for playing cards, too. Vocabulary for domino players & magicians. ♠️♣️😜
Good stuff
Hi, this sanding block... looks interesting :) Can you tell me where i can get it? Thx!
+Jarek Ostaszewski - It has a carbide plate attached to it instead of sandpaper. It lasts a LOT longer. I'm not sure they produce as nice of a finish, but they are very nice for rough sanding, shaping, even planing because they are flat and square. I have a 60 grit and a 120 grit. I got them at a Woodcraft store. I don;t think they have them on their website. They are a little pricey, I think about $20 each.
+Stumpy Nubs (James Hamilton) I'm trying to find them on web but... no luck for now :)
+Jarek Ostaszewski It looks like it might be this - Dura-GRIT 5-1/2" 90 Degree Carbide TruSander HT-TS5-120 120 Grit Block Sander - See more at: www.woodcraft.com/product/154111/duragrit-512-90-degree-carbide-trusander-htts5120-120-grit-block-sander.aspx
Site says it's Currently Unavailable. Looks like you can get them from the manufacturer, though - www.duragrit.com/intl/tools/handsand/index.html
Be warned, they are even pricier than James remembers - the manufacturer site lists them at US $38.23.
+David Taylor thx for help!!! :)
fantastic so magic
Could not get to the dominos plans is the link broken?
very nice thanks 1
no brass rounded or domed head nails on the domino's at the center?
+Johnny Brooke More importantly makes em easier to pick up when you're drunk.
Very nice
amazing
Cool
Where’s the template for the dots? The website says “Coming soon” as of 2020
не по русски, но клево, спс
Laser printer be great for pips
The page for the domino template say can’t be found 😱
Very nice idea but the box that you showed in the video is for 26 pieces of dominoes.4:51
I made my dominos a tiny bit too thick so they didn't all fit. The box was fine.
@@StumpyNubs thanks for the reply but most importantly for the breakdown of the dimensions of the box in the video. I usually do the math and calculate the inner room plus 1/8th of an inch to allow some expansion of the pieces but your idea is also good! Thanks again
@@StumpyNubs just made this following your plans… could only fit 26. The long box sides need to be 6 1/2” to fit 28.
can't find the templet
homemade??
maybe clean your nails before the "handwork" ;)
