Alex is a Style God. Everyone in skateboarding knows it. If you deny his style, you’re lying.
I think what Alex tried to say about the 'flowyness' in Carroll compared to kids today, is that kids don't know what flow is today. It's not about using your hands as little as possible while doing a trick. It's something you're born with I guess, how you roll up to something, how you perform it, how you roll away and probably the most important to me, your expression while rolling up to something.

Lowkey Dope Yeah but he was sick on a different level. I met him at a demo around ‘01. I was never fan of his skate style, his tricks all flipped illusion, and he had a bad trick selection. He was wearing this HUGE oversized bright orange sweatshirt/sweatpants combo in the middle of the summer, with a shirt for a doo-rag, and these goggle prescription glasses. He was free-styling, and His rhymes were like science fiction mixed with white-boy backpack rap, but a little off. Overall, one of the Goofiest white boys I’ve ever seen. A straight up Juggalo. If he wasn’t a pro skater, he would be clowned by all.

Carroll is my All-Time favorite miniramp skater, he shreds. People don’t realize how hard he shreds on mini, but he grew up with one in Daly City.
Fuuuuck. I spat my coffee when he said I wanted to kiss him. So funny.
FYI, it seemed Mike Carroll was most people’s favorite skater back in the mid 90’s. I absolutely love his first FTC video part, along with both the Plan B and Goldfish parts.

This was the greatest episode.
That spray painted shoes mini trend was interesting and it did look like a weird custom colorway or some shit. Ellington, Reynolds and Greco were always some varying degree combinations of Hesh and Fresh, never quite one or the other. That’s what made them transcend that whole thing in the late 90’s. But sure, they definitely weren’t Fresh like the Girl/Chocolate dudes, that’s for sure.

Mike Carroll is a legend but to base why he's your favorite skater off of trick selection is pretty lack luster. I think MC has a pretty basic bag of tricks..but it's his style that really does it for me...MC just oozes with steeze and makes any trick he does look effortless.

Edit: If you're not aware of the influence of skateboarding on fashion, you're not paying attention. I like Alex. He's smart, funny, and a very talented skater. His outfit just seems typical, which is the opposite of what I'd think he's going for. But, I've been wrong before.
