One of the very few editing errors occurs at 12:40 and 12:51 when Ralph Bell repeats a line of dialogue. For some reason the "bad" line was not edited out before the the episode was released for airing. To my ear, there's no difference in how the line was read and I've always wondered what was wrong with the way Mr Bell read it.
William Cornwell I hear the error in the first take: Mr. Bell gets tongue-tied as he says "an, a entity..." in the first take. He immediately picks up the line after the slip up. The director/editors/script supervisor most likely didnt catch it because the actors didnt stop to begin again.
Im a longtime professional voice actor, and have experienced similar issues. www.TommyGriffiths.com
@@TommyGriffithsVoice Good call, William Cornwall! But if the current Wikipedia article on the series is correct I’m amazed that such bumps and bruises don’t appear more often. This reports that the cast first met at 9:00 AM for the initial table read and all performances were in the can by noon, whereupon Himan Brown handed actors their paychecks! That’s almost as amazing as some of the stories they told. I’m about to read a book on the series and I’ll post the link, but first here’s that Wikipedia article.

Pleasant… dreams?

Debussy's "Nuages"....nice
one of my fave pieces of music! It worked really well on this episode!
@mrkennethj7232
What pice of music is it called please?
@frankblack7801 it's called "Nuages" by Claude Debussy. Part of a set of three pieces, "Sirenes" and "Fetes" are the other two
great story
The artwork is creepy as hell
I like this show. L ting it’s good , I like it. It seems like it not new though. It seems like from the 90s maybe early 90s . I could be wrong. I from Brazil
CBSRMT ran from 1974-1982
Thanks
I’ve just discovered your channel, thank you so much!
I could not believe that was the end. That’s an absurd way to end it. I’m sitting here thinking ok their about to explain what happened. But there was no more. Are y’all trying to make me crazy?!
Me too, we I thought, that's the ending...ugh
@@LololoriShow me too. Crazy ending. Was Pierre supposed to be back from the dead?
Wife all wrong May.
A good tale to begin with, however, the tale began to show its lack of substance.
I think Mr. Bell sometimes sounds like William Powell.
Séances are not a fun or entertaining..... It is very, very dangerous as this story displayed - although fiction. I do hope no one decides to try and attempt this act...... Please. I think some of these stories should be come with a 'buyer beware' adage like ;listener be warned and do not attempt this at home'. You are dealing with dark energies. Shalom
Queen Ashantee yes you need protection+the leader to be an experienced Medium..never who you might attract. Many stories of people using Ouji boards+attracting bad spirits....but i do so enjoy this shows☺
Wouldn't touch them with a bargepole x
In the Bible, God's word, these practices are 4bidden. Stances & ouija boards are forms of necromancer. Leave them alone bcoz u r invoking dark spirits who r all too willing 2 give u major headaches, putting this mildly. Again.....LEAVE IT ALL ALONE.😊
Actually the ending is telegraphed for most of the characters. As always, literary license is taken by the writer. Enjoyed 9/20/2022 last day of Summer!
Spooky
Something made me curious about the origin of your username what does it stand for please? Aware this is an old comment 🦉 apologies my friend ✋
Thank you, Chilly Sunshine. I so much enjoy your channel. I’ve wanted to ask you a question for the longest time, do you know of a radio program about two women alone on a ship, the crew has died or disappeared and near the end of the program, the two women are drifting at sea in the dark? Years ago I listened to the very end of this radio program from a far-off am station. Thanks, again.
I didn’t want to rouse your hope, because I’m sorry to say that I don’t have the answer you’re seeking, but I couldn’t resist saying that your description is incredibly creepy… and not only your description of what you heard but of how you heard it, catching only the last minutes from very far away. That sounds like a great premise for an episode of CBS Radio Mystery Theater itself. Maybe it wasn’t a radio show at all, but something ethereal and deadly from a terrible, undreamed of realm posing as a radio show in an effort to feed its darkness, and you only narrowly escaped. Perhaps you shouldn’t try finding it after all.
@@GrantTarredus Thank you for replying to my question. I recently listened to a “Lights Out” episode on SiriusXM radio. The episode title is “Bon Voyage” and has the same story line as the program I listened to eighteen years ago. I will always remember that special night, it was a very dark late October night as we cruised around our city hoping to see scary Halloween themed houses. My late sister and my young granddaughters were with me that night. I will continue to hunt for that long ago program, the “Bon Voyage” episode is good, but not as haunting as the program from long ago. Thank you.

For me episode falls flat.6.0 out of 10. Slow plot, with a weak twist ending.
