  • Chess seems the perfect foil for a sophisticated jewel thief. An insurance investigator looks into the theft of several diamonds and other jewels from a jeweler. A stolen emerald and a game of chess lead him to look into the lives of three supsects: an employee; a long time member at the jewelry store; and a fence. Every character in this story is a chess fan.

    I listened to this program back in the 1970’s on wbbm in Chicago. As I recall each segment was introduced by E G Marshall. Bless you for bringing back such memories !😄😀

    This starred Jack Grimes, perhaps best known as the voice of Sparky on "Speed Racer." Another cast member was Jackson Beck, probably best known as the voice of Bluto/Brutus on the post-World War II "Popeye" cartoons and the announcer on the old "Superman" radio show ("Look, up in the sky!"). In his latter years, he was the voice-over for the Little Caesar's commercials.

    Forgot to mention later the 📻 station went another show called “ When Radio was “. It was hosted by Chuck Schaden. It played comedies,dramas, and fantasy-horror stories. My favorites were during Halloween 🎃 week. They ‘d play versions of 🧛‍♂️ ,Frankenstein,and others. One time they played an HP Lovecraft classic. Had to sleep with my nightlight on. Ha, Ha😀

    I was hoping for a less blindingly obvious ending.

    As one who enjoys some complex strategy games, I found this enjoyable and busily assessing suspects and the ‘how’ it was done. Always satisfying when hard work and sleuthing catches arrogant criminals who like to rub law enforcement’s nose in criminal deeds. Enjoyed 6/22/2022! They can play chess in prison!

    Is that the great Ralph Bell at 2:00 doing the Buick advert?

      Many actors have made entire careers out of their nasally voices, whatever makes them unique, all the better.

      The commercials are part of the nostalgia for us old folks.

    • @mitchsalawine5420
      @mitchsalawine5420 4 года назад +5

      No that's part of the nostalgia. If you had a 1977 Lesabre, you could turn the key in 2020, and it would probably start up like a swiss watch.

      Yep. These are my bedtime stories. Every Night.
      Chilly's channel is the best because of the synopsis', the pictures, and the 100 episode playlists.

    Disappointing. Mystery theater usually is not so obvious. The answer was obvious in the first two minutes.

    • @UncleEarl97
      @UncleEarl97 2 года назад

      Boy, talk about a Spoiler Alert without the Warning! Some of us may not read Chilly’s descriptions, just as they didn’t provide them at the start of each episode, but might read some comments while listening to the episodes. Spoil book, big game and movie endings too?

    • @peedeel2077

      Yep, I guessed the answer quickly, but kept listening in the hope it wasn't that. Disappointing.
