We would listen to this on the radio at night when we used to live in Alaska. The 70's were wonderful times.

I’m so glad I found these, me and my boys would listen to these when they were little boys, I was a single mom and these were something we looked forward to they had twin beds and one night I’d lay with one and the next the other listening so intently.. they are 38 and 40 now but they remember them, of course they were repeats in the early 80s but such good time with my boys.. I’m listening now while it’s storming at 10:30 pm in Louisville Kentucky and reminiscing. Thank you so so much for this gift of turning back the clock even just for a little while. M. Duncan Louisville Kentucky.

      M. Robin- I first found mystery theater when I got my first am/FM pocket radio at 13, and I would listen every chance that I could dial it in! I'm 58 now, and it takes me back to 13yrs old all over again!

I remember growing up in the 1970s and hearing these on a local AM radio station. I would turn out the lights, pull the covers up to my chin and listen to these thrilling tales of terror and mystery. Thank you so much for helping me recapture those days of my youth.

Me too Jason. I would listen to local AM 1300 KXXO at 9pm, then at 10pm I'd switch to Newsradio 78 WBBM Chicago! 12 Midnight?, yep I would tune in to KOA in Denver to listen a third time. The last two would fade in and out depending on weather, atmospherics etc... great great memories!

These stories were a must for me and my dog to listen to during his (our) daily night walks in the 1970's in Los Angeles 45 years ago. I used my small portable radio-recorder and would listen again on long cross-country drives from LA to Texas and back....
which trip had little radio reception. Dog was with me too. What an enjoyment and comfort to hear these shows again today, far superior than the mostly trash that is on these days. Thank you for providing such pleasant memories.

These stories were a joy yo tune into in my youth. I loved listening to tnem before bed in the early and mid 70s. They allowed the imagination to wander and fill in the scenes, details, and personalities in the stories. What a great last bloom tney were for the age of great radio. They are still fantastic to listen to and so thought provoking. Timeless really....so grateful that you posted these wonderful tales. Thank you Chilly!

This takes me back a few years. Great stories! I never knew weather the episode would be light or intense but it never mattered because I was always into the story.
My family and I would listen coming home from church and we all listened to the stories in the dark while we drove. I find that funny in itself. Thanks for posting what a great time for radio. I
miss this a lot. The only stories we hear today is the politics of the day and the talking heads trying to convince the audience of which version to believe.
Thank you again for the great escape that you are sharing with us all.

I too listened to these radio shows in the 70s at night as I lay in bed slowly drifting off to sleep. I had a radio with a 60 minute shut off timer, the CBSRMT show would start, I'd be in bed listening, set the timer, then I'd try to stay awake until the episode ended and then my radio would turn itself off. Over the past 10-15 years I've been listening to these again in some podcasts I downloaded to my iPod, then to smart phones in more recent years. In the past two years I would play an episode while I did some personal or professional work on my home computer to pass the time. So many great episodes to reconnect with again. Thanks Chilly!

I once stayed in a 'haunted' house.
I awoke early one morning, 2am.
To see an old Victorian lady rocking in a chair, knitting, and looking directly at me with beady black eyes.
I yelled at the top of my voice.
    The apparition slowly disappeared.
The owner came running into my room.
I explained what I had seen.
"Oh, that's only Old Peg, don't worry about her. She often visits our guests!"
I asked for another room that night.

I used to listen to these radio shows on the Am stations because FM wasn't a thing yet.
The warm glow of light from the radio/phone gave an eerie atmosphere at night just before bedtime. Stormy weather would be a bonus.
I found an app for the radio shows many years ago and listen to them at work and home.

These are definitely worth listening to over the awful tv stations lol. Bring back tearful but happy memories of Sunday nights going to bed listening in the hopes it was going to be a scary episode lol. My adult children who have long since moved think its crazy especially when there are hundreds of tv stations hah. And before my husband past I tried turning on just to keep his anxiety at bay. So many times Mr.E.G. Marshall got us through a very tough part of our lives and did bring comfort to us both.
I still love these old character shows not only because I thought they were a great idea for dreaded Sunday nights lol. For me its a return to a time of innocence and omg way better acting lol. But also its a companion of each night and keeps mind off insomnia and loneliness of a young widow lol ok maybe not that young bit sounded good. 🤪 And thank you - glad I found once again 💕😊
