      Hi. I am one of those who have asked often where you got the pry lid lifter. Cool tool. I have tried many was of bottling peppers but have not fermented any. You daughter is a doll!

      My mom taught me how to can fruit, I hated it at the time but , I learned a skill that I have used in my marriage with my kids too...

    I love teaching my kiddos how to can. My grandmother taught me and I feel closer to her when I continue to carry on those traditions in the kitchen and garden!! It makes my heart happy!! Good job Mama!!

    I love watching Samantha show interest in the Homestead. I learned from my grandmother in much the same way as I watch you teach. I've never forgotten those times. Priceless. I am 64 and enjoy delight in watching.😊

    I am looking forward to fermenting my sugar rush peach peppers and black Hungarian peppers together! It should be sweet, spicy and an awesome mix of purple and orange color! This is our first year growing the sugar rush peppers and the plants are doing great! I love that your adding fermenting to your Homestead.

      @@vickiscott8549 We ordered both from Baker Creek Seeds! We still grow the black Hungarian peppers they are very similar to jalapeños but have awesome color and flowers.

    My husband just surprised me today with Ball's 'Complete Book of Home Preserving' for our Anniversary! Isn't he so sweet?! He knew I wanted it ever since I saw you show it on your channel! I would LOVE to have one of those handy dandy prying tools to use when I start canning things from my own garden!

    Hi Sarah and Samantha, The longer you wait the more Sour they become. I am fermenting the Golden Acre cabbage at the moment to make sauerkraut. Aren’t you able to can them after you have been fermenting them? Eveline in Scotland.

      Yes canning saurkraute after you ferment it can be done.

    I ♡ watching you guys picking your amazing vegetables! I imagine it's my hand popping the lovely vegetables from their vine... I started my container garden on my balcony...however, I don't get a huge amount of sunlight so I can only grow so much...therefore, I garden vicariously through y'all...:-) it is nice to see your intelligent daughter working alongside! Very smart, that one...:-)

    Oh oh oh I want to win one please skip the other 2000 people and pick me. I ferment kraut and pickles in a crock. There is no going back to just canned pickles. West coast tuna home canning is the best!!!!

      Yes! After I learned how to can tuna from the OSU extension service, I have never been able to buy store bought again!

    Finally! We get to see you teaching your children! This is so exciting! I love to watch you Sarah as well as Kevin, but I wanted to see you pass your talent on to your beautiful beautiful children. I am 84 years old and I recall my mother doing the same. Good memories 🤗🤗🤗

    You are teaching your children very important and valuable life skills. I grew up on a grain farm in Illinois. The example you are setting for your daughters, and the lessons you are teaching them, remind me of my life on the farm long ago. Gardening and canning seems to be a dying skill.     It was nice to see Samantha taking an interest in the canning process. I also learned to can from my Mother. Her canner had screw down locks and could actually also can with cans; by the time I was with her she had switched to jars. I have always enjoyed canning and having our own food even when I had to buy the double bushel size bag of potatoes, because we did not have the space to grow much.
