I would LOVE to have one of those handy dandy prying tools to use when I start canning things from my own garden!
I love watching you and your family. I can tell how much you love your family and your animals. If I were younger I would want to have a homestead. I’m a Master Gardener in So CA and I love to garden and help people learn about their plants.
Great video! I miss having my two daughters and son at home, we had some fun times when they were teenagers ...they've grown and have kids of their own. Bittersweet❤

Hi Sarah and Samantha, The longer you wait the more Sour they become. I am fermenting the Golden Acre cabbage at the moment to make sauerkraut. Aren’t you able to can them after you have been fermenting them? Eveline in Scotland.
I ♡ watching you guys picking your amazing vegetables! I imagine it's my hand popping the lovely vegetables from their vine... I started my container garden on my balcony...however, I don't get a huge amount of sunlight so I can only grow so much...therefore, I garden vicariously through y'all...:-) it is nice to see your intelligent daughter working alongside! Very smart, that one...:-)
Oh oh oh I want to win one please skip the other 2000 people and pick me. I ferment kraut and pickles in a crock. There is no going back to just canned pickles. West coast tuna home canning is the best!!!!

It was nice to see Samantha taking an interest in the canning process. I also learned to can from my Mother. Her canner had screw down locks and could actually also can with cans; by the time I was with her she had switched to jars. I have always enjoyed canning and having our own food even when I had to buy the double bushel size bag of potatoes, because we did not have the space to grow much.
I loved watching the two of you. It reminded me of how my siblings and I loved helping our late father make his dill pickles every year. It was so much fun. Great memories, thank you.
