I could easily be wrong, I think if the counterweight is further away/back that would add more balance weight and closer is would be less balance weight.
I used to not watch these video replays but since you started to narrate them, I resumed watching them. I enjoy them more with the narration and the humor in the narration as you watch it for the first time. The video is now enjoyable to watch because of your narration. I wanted to let you know.
Your team gets so many different views of the events happening around SpaceX. Some how there is something new to learn in all the videos. I've never seen dynamic counter weights before. I understand the need to maintain a balance of the crane and have the proper amount of counter weight. But I've never seen the counter weights move in relation to the boom and load movement
Yep I grew up with some of those books and now my boys are growing up with them. Specifically I remember my dad reading Richard Scarry's Tinker and Tanker and their Spaceship! Now I read that to my boys (and of course we discuss all the wrong physics... haha!)
Love the commentaries, and love the updates! I don’t think I’ve missed one of these updates in over a year! Thank you team for doing this and keeping us up to date on what’s going on in Starbase, helps keep us in the loop from the opposite side of the country! ❤
9:02 I know exactly what you mean Das. I also had these picture books with construction sites and stuff I used to love to look at when I was a little kid, watching SBL is just like that for me.
Das always enjoy your commentary. A few laughs😂 and more info on whats happening at starbase. Thanks for all the hard work to the whole NSF team. Amazing.
Nothing better than a good chuckle :) Also, spin primes are still exciting. I remember sitting for about 6h, watching tanks to see a little puff of 'smoke' under a water tower.
9:01 Talking about Lowly Worm driving an apple in the Richard Scary books. I loved those. We know what you are talking about. And then followed by "Look at the flaps on that!" Cheers Das, I loved your KSP streams on twitch.
9:17 Das - Yes! I read Richard Scary a lot when I was a kid! Probably still have those books in a box somewhere. They did a cartoon series on it in the early 90s on Nickelodeon too. Good memories!
Is it okay to still be shocked that every starship made it through re-entry so far? The catch was amazing but the re-entry is still the event that shocks me the most out of everything. From the little flap that could to the new heatshield that did so much better to the aggressive re-entry on a skimpy old version heatshield. Like what an insane event to renter something the size of shuttle, I guess that is also why people adored the shuttle so much.
Lol Spin prime tests... The Crane was cool. I appreciate all you guys at NSF, since before Star-hopper. The narrated updates are great and always crack me up. Lowly Worm!!
I've never ever seen your channel before, but I like SpaceX so I began searching for the newest on-site updates and you popped up. I'm glad you did, great in-depth content for just a little "update video". Subbed.
Appreciate it! We do two of these per week. Terabytes of video comes across our servers every month, and makes sense to share it with space fans. - Das
Hey Das, You do read all of the comments and I know that we appreciate you for this.... PS, I'm the one that took you up on the offer to have you do a video on the Math. Are you guys doing calendars for 2025??? Kindest Regards and God bless you and your family. ThanX
Richard Scarry! Yes, Das, I had lots of Richard Scarry books when I was a kid in the early '70s. Those books taught me that you can't be aware of everything happening in the world.
This format is the best thing ever happened to NSF after that IFT-1 van assault! By the wayyy, always wondered about something, Das is an Indian surname. So anybody Indian on your parent's side or is it something else entirely!
Das making reference to Richard Scarry books (and the Worm driving a car) made me 🤣 for a while. "Those of a certain age" know, and if the Galloway household included these GREAT educational resources it clearly turned out well (Das is much smarter than the average Bear). BTW> wasn't a Scarry book character for a cop = Bear? I guess that was era appropriate as well (CB radio slang = "Smokies").
Hi John, I watched your helpful Xmas lights video last year but lost my patience trying to fix some of my lights. You should be a DJ on a jazz radio station. lol. Thanks for all that you do.
I doubt they can use removable pins. But welding on internal pins that would pop out during landing is not out of the question. They have to be as strong enough as the ones on the booster, but remember those on the booster are immovable. Will be interesting to see the solution.
If i were to choose a location where to film a terminator movie, i believe that starbase could be a perfect place for the scene where the terminator arrives from the future, at times it really has that atmosphere especially at night.
It’ll be so interesting to see how much less work the new launch mount and deluge system will require. Too bad we can’t see how much maintenance the Masseys setup requires
Really interesting counter weight management on that crane.
Yes. Makes perfect sense, but in all my years (which is A LOT of years) I've never seen such a thing. Brilliant.
@@sarg3146 Tower cranes have movable counterweights but this was a new one for me too.
I could easily be wrong, I think if the counterweight is further away/back that would add more balance weight and closer is would be less balance weight.

Thanks Eric 👍 - Das

Verticated is my new favourite word!
What catches my eye is how much cleaner the welds are on the upcoming starships. They seem almost seamless.
The rings in each 4-ring section are laser welded. I don't think they use lasers when welding the sections together.
Love the Richard Scarey reference. What a nostalgia hit! ❤
Yes! I loved loved loved those books when I was a little kid. 😊
Totally got reference too, and was a perfect visual image
Yep I grew up with some of those books and now my boys are growing up with them. Specifically I remember my dad reading Richard Scarry's Tinker and Tanker and their Spaceship! Now I read that to my boys (and of course we discuss all the wrong physics... haha!)
Das-ism of the day: 0:24-0:28
"when i joke about that i'm not kidding"
Hats off to all those guys just hangin around. Rigging is an awesome job. Every challenge is different. Those crane operators are the boss too!
I really like your commentary, it's about the best on youtube, no clickbait unlike some of your peers. You are doing a great job.
High praise, thank you. - Das
Something something sounds like why something something
Love the commentaries, and love the updates! I don’t think I’ve missed one of these updates in over a year! Thank you team for doing this and keeping us up to date on what’s going on in Starbase, helps keep us in the loop from the opposite side of the country! ❤
Totally get the Richard Scary reference. One of my favorite childhood books. When I had my kids I made sure to read them the Richard Scary series.
Thanks again, Das. Merry early Christmas.
Look at the flaps on that! Das, that is the funniest thing ever! You are a star Sir!
Too much time spent looking at space hardware Das!
9:02 I know exactly what you mean Das. I also had these picture books with construction sites and stuff I used to love to look at when I was a little kid, watching SBL is just like that for me.
Richard Scarry books are awesome for kids. Lowly Worm FTW.
We loved those things. Even had a Lowly stuffed animal. 😅 - Das
Das always enjoy your commentary. A few laughs😂 and more info on whats happening at starbase. Thanks for all the hard work to the whole NSF team. Amazing.
Richard Scary fan here, loved those books, TY for the memory and smile.
I do like the look of the almost seamless new boosters
Das and NSF, y'all rock! Love the channel and content. Thanks for the update. Peace 🤘
Love these updates!
Thanks John - it’s been a joy to see you all grow these last five years.
When do we get the next jet washer video for the new FT design?! 😅
Good stuff. Go Starship, go SpaceX. 🇺🇸
You’re continuin’ to do good, Das!
Nothing better than a good chuckle :)
Also, spin primes are still exciting. I remember sitting for about 6h, watching tanks to see a little puff of 'smoke' under a water tower.
Of all the random shoutouts on these streams, I was not expecting one for the Richard Scarry "Busy Busy" books. But it was spot on!
This is why I don't script these. I just say what comes to mind... you never know what you're going to get on a Starbase Summary. 😅 - Das
9:01 Talking about Lowly Worm driving an apple in the Richard Scary books. I loved those. We know what you are talking about.
And then followed by "Look at the flaps on that!"
Cheers Das, I loved your KSP streams on twitch.
A Richard Scary Big Book of Spaceflight would be awesome. "Look Dad, it's the banana for scale!"
I loved Richard Scarry when I was a kid. All the details in the drawings were fun!
100% it was the details, always more to see, kinda like Starbase. - Das
verdicated is now officially in my vocabulary
Great work, thank you NasaSapceFlight! Cheer John! 0:00
Really like and appreciate your commentary!
9:17 Das - Yes! I read Richard Scary a lot when I was a kid! Probably still have those books in a box somewhere. They did a cartoon series on it in the early 90s on Nickelodeon too. Good memories!
WOW thats a way more interesting LR11000 with the awesome counterweight hydraulic mechanism...not to mention a smashing colour. In action at last!!

Have you forgotten IFT1-3?
Been liking the Das narration on these videos.
Appreciate it! - Das
Loved the Richard Scary books growing up. Lonely Worm!
Lol Spin prime tests... The Crane was cool. I appreciate all you guys at NSF, since before Star-hopper. The narrated updates are great and always crack me up. Lowly Worm!!
I mean, let's be honest about spin primes right? 😅 - Das
Das, Richard Scary was a reference I haven’t thought about in 20 years. Thanks.
Same, random neurons just fired when I saw that "busy" scene. - Das
Happy to help with the acronym video.
It's already recorded 👍 - Das
Das' commentary Rocks!
Hi Mary i love all your work
I've never ever seen your channel before, but I like SpaceX so I began searching for the newest on-site updates and you popped up. I'm glad you did, great in-depth content for just a little "update video". Subbed.
Appreciate it! We do two of these per week. Terabytes of video comes across our servers every month, and makes sense to share it with space fans. - Das
Love the "verticated". Great narration as always. And I am a 61 year old nerd.
Appreciate it, all nerds are welcome, even those slightly older than me! - Das
Of course, CHICKEN LEGS got first. Well I got my Flight 6 patch today!!!
Das, I watch all our narrated videos, keep up the good work, you do a great job.
I can concur, Das DOES read all the comments. MVP.
It's true. 😅 - Das
+1 for featured comments
love these videos
Das is Awesome as a commentator
Great insights. Yes, Richard Scarey busy scenes, with Lowley the Worm, are well known in our household.
I'm going to have to ask Das Mom to find a picture of our Lowly Worm stuffed animal. 😅 - Das
I totally get the Richard Scarry reference! :D
Need to make a short of 33 static fire. Thanks Das. if you still want some Military gear, let me know.
"work only with Irion sites."
Hey Das,
You do read all of the comments and I know that we appreciate you for this....
PS, I'm the one that took you up on the offer to have you do a video on the Math.
Are you guys doing calendars for 2025???
Kindest Regards and God bless you and your family.

Yeah, calendars are a bit late, but on the way. - Das
Keep up the good work. I love your presentation style.
thats right Das reads every comment even this one lol, keep killing it Das and the whole NSF Team
Nope, if he were to try and read every comment in a single night, he would burst into flame. 🎅 - Das
Awesome update and commentary!
Dang it, i saw the short about the static fire and some how missed the premiere for this.
Great work all around! 😃🚀🤓
Thanks for the update Das. You are the David Attenborough of rockets
I'll take it 😅 - Das
Also, 'verticated' is much more efficient than 'verticalized', so well done.
Das, how long have you ever watched a tank? Its like watching a rock grow.
That crane is a work of art worthy of Starbase
you rock Das! keep it up! Good vid like they always are. :)
Richard Scarry! Yes, Das, I had lots of Richard Scarry books when I was a kid in the early '70s. Those books taught me that you can't be aware of everything happening in the world.
That's an interesting takeaway... huh. Never thought about it that way. - Das
Yes! Richard Scarry's Busytown!
Hvala NASA 👍🇺🇲🚀💫💫💫
Loved the Richard Scary books. I believe his name was Lowly Worm.
Yeah that was it. With the apple car. 😅 - Das
I 100% understood the Richard Scarry reference!
This format is the best thing ever happened to NSF after that IFT-1 van assault! By the wayyy, always wondered about something, Das is an Indian surname. So anybody Indian on your parent's side or is it something else entirely!
Something else entirely. Old joke from college that turned into a screen name. 🤦♂️ - Das
@NASASpaceflight Lol. We will be waiting to hear all about it sometime on the stream!
Maybe one day, hah. - Das
4:42 The stars at night, are big and bright, 👏👏👏👏, Deep in the Heart of “Starbase”… 🎶🎵
Ship 33 flaps are in Hug Mode
Das making reference to Richard Scarry books (and the Worm driving a car) made me 🤣 for a while. Right? 80s kids, probably. Between Richqrd Scarry, LEGO, hot glue and cardboard, and living in the country, seemed to work out ok. 😅 - Das
nice work
it's funny to hear you think out loud.....hahaha
Pretty soothing video !
Looks like black and white painting on chopsticks for viewing contrast. Noticed at 4:00 paintwork at the bottom of the stabilizers too.
love the crane stuff it was soooo cool
Hi John, I watched your helpful Xmas lights video last year but lost my patience trying to fix some of my lights. You should be a DJ on a jazz radio station. lol. Thanks for all that you do.
Oh no, the channels are leaking 😅 - Das
Did the cryo stand go "Wee wee wee" all the way there? 🤣
Probably missed it, but have the bumper pads on the chopsticks that were damaged on the catch been replaced?
Richard Scary books 📕 yessir 😂
Are the vertical tanks for the air liquifaction plant that spacex were planning on building?
GO SpaceX! Keep DAS busy
amazing the scale of the workers on chopsticks!
Has there been any known progress on the ship catch pin systems?
Thanks, Das!
It's not we don't like listening to you it's that your soo Happy with your tech 😳
the outer shell from welding is slag just sayn. we use a chipping hammer and wire brush to clean the weld
the 2 lift pins you can see on ship 33, do you think they will be sticking out like that for flight, or will they fold out when it's ready to land?
I doubt they can use removable pins. But welding on internal pins that would pop out during landing is not out of the question. They have to be as strong enough as the ones on the booster, but remember those on the booster are immovable. Will be interesting to see the solution.
What is that light under one of the chopstick arms? Is that new?
At 8:55 it reminds me of "find Waldo"🤣
Is that header tank Tin Man's Head? The OLM crew job security. Love it!!!!
So what are the two animals running around between 1:45 to 1:54?
BOK BOK 1ST:)) Lets Gooooooo🚀🚀🚀
My phone says I have to translate your comment to English. LoL
Fascinating ❤
Bravo SpaceX 👍🚀🇺🇲👏👏👏
hey John i want to use the new word in my vocabulary if i could, verticated i love it
Hey, it's an easily understandable word! Hah. - Das
@NASASpaceflight cheers mate

@NASASpaceflight - Das you've labeled this as ambient again 😂😂
No, seems to be correct on this end? - Das
It's in the main description the video says narrated in orange but when you open it it says ambient
Thats a youtube thing... when you see ambient in the title are you hearing the commentary? - Das
@NASASpaceflight yh we hear you loud and clear lol 🤣
Do you guys think they will update the OLM to the same one on tower two?
12:06 - Non-cryo-expert here, are vertical tanks more efficient/better than horizontal ones?
Hi Das!
