Well, daron is the 'screamer' and he usually does it live and sometimes on the albums, if not only to save serj's voice for hitting actual notes, which daron... isn't particularly good at xD Honestly though, it kind of looks like Daron did a bit of acid and saw something indescribable for a sec.
This is SOAD’s best song ever. It defines them, their disdain to the world being blind to social problems, their funny lyrics, they’re tempo changes, it’s just perfect.
Not really, he is sing to loud, which messes up the whole performance, backing vocals should never be louder than lead vocals. It sounds incorrect and off tone. He was a little too pumped lol.
+Trevor The Illuminati Agent lolol dude they have sound people to bring his voice up or down. If they didn't want him that loud they could've just turned him down.
This song was in Rock Band (not a real instrument blah blah blah), and I could NEVER drum it. I found the drum tab, and I still can't untangle it. I'm not Armenian.
I always loved that about this band. I remember a class mate in jr. High handing me the first album, and all he said was "trust me". Man was he right, will always love system
Totally, i was looking for this comment...Daron's face is the proof that John missed the tempo for a second...but right back at it like nothing happened.
Daron has the most weirdest unique and most awesome backing vocals that I ever in any band . His high pitches give me goosebumps and his screams . Especially these parts 0:33 , 0:53, 1:131:56 All I can say is that we will never have another person like Daron ever again . And I miss these days where he can hit these awesome pitches . His guitar playing is flawless and hard to do while with these type of backing vocals. Parts like these gave me chills too 2:02 with the sound of the guitar . Too bad he couldn't pull off the long scream at 2:23 . Its probably a hard scream pitch to hit right live I guess. No other band will ever have someone special like him . Very talented band . Wish I can meet them . They all seem unique in their own way .
I’m not even a big metal fan, but SOAD is my favorite music of all time. They just have that inimitable quality of greatness, and it’s always such a pleasure to hear them perform.
it is literally identical to the record. anyone who plays in any band can admire how tight this performance is. Damn even if you dont like the music you can see that. wow.
That might just be the single greatest live adaptation of an album record I’ve ever heard ❤ System of a Down BLEW my mind when I was a teen in the 2000s. Incredible song and performance!
i never liked SOAD but my gosh they are really good live, sound just like the album, even tho it's not my style, these guys got some good talent, and the engineer hats off to u sir for a great mix!
My god what a performance. I’m a fan of everything from this to Sinatra, smooth jazz, etc. Serj Tankian is one of my favorite voices of all time. Dude is just all over the fucking place and nailing it at every moment.
Easily the best performance of this song. The whole band looks like there having a blast up there just jamming hard. Man rock then was so versatile & so many varieties of the rock genre were blowing up at the time. Now & days everyone is trying to sound like the same.
I've heard rumours of a System of a Down album without Serj since they reunited, but every time they're asked about it, they don't treat it as a legitimate question. Instead, and in typical SoaD fashion, they crack sarcastic jokes and humorously criticize the question. The general consensus is that SoaD will not record more songs in studio in the near future due to Serj's absence and all of the band members' side projects, but will continue to perform the occasional live show together.
I mean...Serj's solo stuff and Scars on Broadway both sound like SOAD without Daron/Serj respectively, so I don't know why they don't just write new music together. Maybe it's a clash of egos, and all they can really do is perform together.
I’ve listened to SOAD for over 10 years & I’ve never listened to them live.. they had the chorus sounding reggae in this live version to me 🤔 super awesome. They def sound identical to the studio recording too
I am sad it took me this long to find this video. This is the tightest & fullest live performance I have seen from SOAD. Daron chill and nailing the vocals perfectly with Serj- damn. While I enjoyed their more frantic stage presence (& Daron will always get silly), this is just a really lovely moment for them.
I seriously love how this video was cut and edited together! It felt so fast and chaotic but at the same time it was just so mesmerizing! Good on the editor 👌🏾

When MTV was worth watching...
Vladis Kalpakidis youd have to go back 26 years into the past from the date on when this video was posted for your comment to be true..
ticker yes when mtv didnt even exist..mtv ruined music
Vladis S.O.A.D Nope, MTV still wasn't worth watching. SOAD members themselves hated MTV at that time.
Vladis S.O.A.D Barely worth watching if I recall correctly. They hardly played Rock or Metal, and when they did, it would happen after midnight.
Dimitris Tsinarian im by no means a big supporter for mtvs excistance but first two years or so it helped mainstream music..even forged opportunities for bands and artists who would have never got big if mtv wasnt there at the time..half of these bands were just 1 hit wonder bullshit but still..they enjoyed some success..At that same time mtv hit the air some of the best heavy metal bands were packin arenas and putting out their best albums..mtv didnt ruin them..1984 and beyond mtv definitely soul sucked and corporatized music..but the bands went along with it too..sold out to make that bigtime loot and fame.

You're a little creepy, dude...
jajajjajaa
serj es el mejor
I'm dying xDD
@lukas4529 They said that, serj loves you and he know where you lives. For your face in that minute.
The venue, microphones, lighting, and sound engineers nailed it. That’s why it sounded soo good live.
Delicious
And the band put their heart and soul into it
Because it's MTV, and filmed for tv, I expect there was a lot of post production. Maybe even re recorded some guitar parts. Wouldn't surprise me.
@msgesus4518 0:55 Daron literally fucks up right here. Don't you think they would have re-recorded that part?
@@msgesus4518I don’t think so. It’s not perfect enough.

motofriser xd
Well, daron is the 'screamer' and he usually does it live and sometimes on the albums, if not only to save serj's voice for hitting actual notes, which daron... isn't particularly good at xD

Tightest performance of this song! Incredible stuff.
More tight
@icon Agreed, they are not getting younger, and the stuff that Serj and Daron sing fucks up their voices tremendously, hardly surprising.
