Dexter and Lumen's dynamic is what made season 5 one of my favourite (if not my favourite) Dexter season. They had so much chemistry and their relationship was deep, their scenes powerful (not just the romance scenes, but the action, learning and killing scenes too). I loved Lumen because she was raw and true, beautiful, a perfect imperfection, just like this theme is and I was really sad at the end when she left.. even though I could understand why she did and I accepted it. I didn't have anything against Hannah but she never "touched" me the way Lumen did.
Please don´t use brackets for such long phrases, the text is much more beautiful if you write full, clear sentences. :) Oh and I completely agree with you!
the scene where lumen breaks up with dexter, belongs to the sadest and most heartbreaking moments i have ever seen in my life. i was so glad for dexter when he found her. it's just not fair that some humans are cursed to deal with soul shattering pain over and over again and just don't get a fucking break.
When I hear the opening it always makes me think of Lumen lying on that table unconscious in rags while Dexter meticulously cleaned the gashes on her back
Season 5 was actually my second favorite season. I was surprised when I found out it wasn't a favorite among fans. It's tied with season 7 for me. Maybe I'm just a sucker for the girl who love and accept Dexter for who he is?
Me too. That season was really intense and watching dexter rebuild himself was amazing. The Stan Liddy situation was really really stressful for me haha, and I kinda wished Lumen didnt just dissapear, I wish she would have showed up later on or something. But oh well, I feel the same as you, that was a really good season and I think people are just too loyal to the first 4 seasons.
+Jack Smith It's a seriously underrated season IMO Season 6 is where it gets bad, only to be revived in quality for 3 quarters of 7, then 8 just blew it all up
Yeah season 5 is actually my favourite. Partially because of this music. It's not the typical dexter music but actually the story of some kind of evil fairy tale. Like a princess and her dark knight. Imho the most "romantic" season of dexter.
Really says something that I can fast forward every single Hannah scene & still get all the info I need to follow the shows story. I'm pretty sure I was grinning ear to ear when Dexter/Lumen finally happened. I really, really wish they could have somehow incorporated Lumen into the series finale!!!
He should have just killed Hannah when he first had her on his kill table. The only reason Hannah was even created was because the producer Scott Buck fancied her actress and created the character to bring her into the show and put her with Dexter.
Lumen’s Season was truly the absolute Best. Why? 2 reasons: 1) Because the acting was incredible. Julia Stiles embodied her role to perfection. I can’t even say she “played her part” well, because in my opinion, that description would not do her justice. She really did embody her role. Flawlessly. Which I Greatly appreciate. The season would not have been what it was without her incredible acting. And Michael C Hall did an excellent job opposite her as well. I really appreciated him, and how he acted, in many scenes, but even more especially in their love scene. How he acted in that scene needed to be a certain way, and he engaged with her in exactly that way. Kudos to him and the writers fo that. And of course Johnny Lee Miller also played a fantastic bad guy. 2) The storyline was incredible - in large part because it is based in truth. Not because women are commonly found in barrels, of course, but because unbelievably terrible things happen to women all the time in our world. Sadly and tragically. Sexual assault, violence, rape, and even gang rape. Many people have no idea how common, and how traumatizing, these things actually are. It is an unbelievably messed up world we live in. So I greatly appreciate the show shining a light on that, and also shining a light onto how traumatized victims really are, and how - I have no doubt - that taking their power back, even if that means stopping their perpetrator from doing the same to another woman, can be instrumental to their ability to heal. Of course, most victims - in real life - don’t actually ever get that chance. So if this season has ended up helping victims achieve some level of peace, even if just vicariously, which I’m sure it has, then I’m all for it, and it also adds to why this season was the best. I was shocked after reading the comments here that some people didn’t like it, or it wasn’t up there in their favorites. But that doesn’t stop me from loving it. I could watch it over and over again. And I have. :)
Me too. Hannah was one of the worst characters in the show. The character was only ever created to fulfill Scott Buck's sex fantasy about her actress Yvonne Strahovski.
Hannah ruined the last two seasons for me. Buck made Dexter into a sappy love story with everyone chasing after Hannah when the last season should've been a manhunt for Dexter. She's so pointless and their romance is forced I fast forward through all her scenes. Debra >>> Hannah Lumen >>> Hannah Rita >>> Hannah Lila >>> Hannah
TheSagefx I guarantee that if anyone other than Scott Buck had been the producer of Season 7 Hannah would have been just another killer stabbed on Dexter's table instead of the crappy excuse for a "love interest" she was.
Actually, from what I've noticed, Season 5 is becoming more accepted among fans. While it didn't live up to the height set by the Trinity saga, it still delivered a solid story with solid performances and served wonderfully as a transitional season. It had its flaws, sure, but they were nothing compared to the "clusterf*ck" that turned out to be the final season. I do wish the show had gone out with the bang it deserved :(
"Despite having considered myself a monster for as long as I can remember, it still comes as a shock when I'm confronted with the depth of evil that exists in this world."
I really loved season 5. I was surprised to find out a lot of people were tralking trash about it, maybe it is because it's the season that followed after Trinity. But I really did enjoy it, I really liked the connection Dexter and Lumen had, it's like they found each other at the good time, and even the narratives such as Stan Liddy were very interesting. I wish Quinn never got a blind spot on Dexter because of his relationship with Deb tho
I have a softspot for women, who experienced rape, torture and violence. My heart shatters every time I read or hear about it. I'm a guy, it never had to do anything with me, but I hate rapists so much that I'd love them to suffer as much as possible. This season was hard for me to watch, yet it's the epitome of the show. It was absolutely brilliant. Hall and Stiles did absolutely amazing, as well as directors, supporting cast and writing. Dexter's and Lumen's relationships where magical. Whimsical. Best love story in ANY narrative media I've ever encountered. Rape and torture happens every time. Life is horrible. So I'd rather stay in this whimsical, fake reality of this show. This season was incredible. And soundtrack is amazing.
I know they destroyed the legacy of Dexter with this final season and the final episode is so sad. Nothing positive about it. Batista: Lost a good friend with his last memory of him being him killing someone out of anger. Quinn: Heartbroken that Deb is gone forever. Hannah(although she never should have came back): Missing Dexter. Deb: Dead thinking she was a bad person. Harrison: Will grow up without his dad. May have problems like Dexter. Dexter: Alone, Sad, No hope, Completly regressed.
The idea that everything 'should' have a happy or even 'acceptable' ending is something that I too struggle with, but Dexter was not a creature made for happiness. Peace is the closest he could come to it and I hope he found that. The inner voice is silenced, he doesn't have to parade and juggle different relationships and the mask he wears never varies and so he becomes seemingly empty. He always was, but now he is in a way, free.
The final season was exactly why dex should have remained alone a part from being around his sister. He brought death to them. He destroyed them. Deb killed for him. Quinn knew and was okay with it because dex killed Saxon. Batista knew who dex was.... By the last episode dex was fully exposed. He was alone Deb was gone A scared animal will run off amd hide.
Does anyone know if the piece that played at the beginning of "Beauty and the Beast" is an actual composition and if it has a title? It's the scene where Dexter is wiping Lumen's wounds. I can't find it anywhere.
what most people dont realise is the the last two seasons were supposed to be one. the writers wanted the 7th to be the last season but they were told to end it in the 8th. so thats why the alst two seasons arent that good. storywise they were actually reall good but full of fillers to cover two seasons instead of one. I honestly loved the ending. and the keypoints and what mattered in the last to seasons was good. directing wise it was bad. and the worst season was the third not the fifth
Dexter 5-8 doesn't half get a lot of stick, in my opinion 5 was really good 6 sucked ass, 7 was a great return to form from the abysmal season 6 and 8 was ok ish but Isaac Sirco was the highlight of the shows later years.
The only real flaw of Season 7 was the Hannah storyline. Dexter should have just killed her when he had her on the table not cut her free and fucked her on it.
Hannah and Dexter had no chemistry whatsoever which was ironic since the episode called Chemistry had Dexter's voiceover going on about how much chemistry they had even though they had none. The producer Scott Buck seemed to think "They're both serial killers" was a good enough reason to put Dexter and Hannah together even thought Dexter was a vigilante serial killer who only killed killers of the innocent whereas Hannah was an evil bitch who poisoned innocent people for fun. And Hannah's sob story about having an abusive dad who locked her in a hotel while he went gambling when she was a little girl and nearly drowned her once was pathetic. Being locked in a hotel room and nearly drowned didn't make her poison people as an adult. She chose to do it. She was an evil person who just happened to have an abusive dad and used his abuse as an excuse to kill not a good person turned evil because she had an abusive dad.
Agree Xehanort10...totally agree. I catch all of the series and films by soundtracks, or they catch me...I don't even know. Anyway , my favourite track was, is and will be 'The Pond' forever and it is not a coincidence. Daniel knew it. :)
Don't be sorry your darkness is gone. I'll carry if for you - always. I'll keep it with mine...

SIM, CONCORDO. LUMEN COMBINAVA COM DEXTER E PASSOU ISSO AO PUBLICO.
Lumen and Dexter were my favorite couple
Mine too.
I've watched and rewatched the 5th season so many times... it's my favorite... very touching, emotional, gratifying and sad.
mine too when he dropped that plate i felt that
shit
hello doctor
the scene where lumen breaks up with dexter, belongs to the sadest and most heartbreaking moments i have ever seen in my life. i was so glad for dexter when he found her. it's just not fair that some humans are cursed to deal with soul shattering pain over and over again and just don't get a fucking break.
I could not agree more!! One of my most favourite seasons.
Lumen really was a sleeping beauty. Dexter saved her in everyway a human can be saved.
Idk why but every time I listen to this track I always go to your comment idk why but it always touches me that some people doesn't get a break
Lumen's theme is by FAR my favorite. Tickles me in all the right places.
Very classical folk. Great sound.
Lumen: You've been my only way through this
Dexter: I guess we both found each other at the right time.
Even the lesser seasons of Dexter, whichever seasons you think those are, are better than most shows.
When I hear the opening it always makes me think of Lumen lying on that table unconscious in rags while Dexter meticulously cleaned the gashes on her back
It touched my heart in deep. Thank you ! :)
I really hope we see Lumen again in the new season, even if only briefly.
I hope too
Not much longer! Gonna be amazing

I love Dexter too, I love what he does how he acts, he is one of a kind.

Season 5 gets a lot of crap for some reason but I freaking loved it. Lumen was a very good character that I hated to see leave
Damn I got tears in my eyes just thinkng back of that serie, so great, such great characters

this is a gem
I was always hoping and thought that Lumen would return instead of Hannah.

This is the best OST in "Dexter". Period.

Why on earth in the last season we didn't see lumen.... i just finished the season 8, so sad to see dex so hopless.
6:15 that part sounds a lot like The last Samurai
Don't be don't be sorry your darkness is gone, I'll carry it for you always I'll keep it with mine
Even tho I knew it still broke my heart when they broke up
Anyone Else crying at the end of season 8 the finale ;_;
SparriSpyS Nearly, because of how terrible it was.
Not even real finale 💀
Thank you! So pissed your old videos got deleted. Hope you reupload the others too so I can add them to my Dexter playlists :D

Dexter new blood doesn’t exist for us
Loved the Lumen arc, she was perfect for dexter, it was messed up like she used him to kill her nightmares and just leaves
thanks for reuploading, fuck censorship
Rita,Lumen,Hannah,Lila

You're listening to it right now. The title of the song you're looking for is ''Nurse Dexter''. ''The Pond'' is a longer version of that same theme!
2:02 insane
Forever dexter and Rita ❤️🥰
Does anyone know the name of the wood wind instrument used at the very beginning?
Whats the sound when dexter and lumen are on the boat???
@@lazarmarkovic2685 I believe it's "Tides", originally from the season 4 soundtrack. :)

yes that and I think they killed off Isaac sirco too early but the finale to season 7 was very good
I think Doakes should have stayed in the story and Rita too actually. The Lyla and Hannah characters were the yuck factor.
6:46 😈
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!! Whats the song they play in Dexter when Dex finds Rita in the bath tub?
it's called ''The End'' it's on the Season 4 Soundtrack
Retro_Man_1988 thank you!
Here's an extended compilation I made of that theme:
Dexter Music Theme - Love And Memories (Soundtrack Compilation)
What is the actual song title?
(the very first part)
Jack Smith "The Pond" :)
thanks for the spoil
How is that a spoiler? Season 5 came out 3 years ago.
Shh. You're not welcome here.
Hannah is a worse character than Travis Marshall.
