WTF Travis!?!? Shares only one truth about his character the entire time until the last truth needs to be told. Then destroys our hearts with the real reason his character is so emotionally aloof and untethered. “My family abandoned me when they fled for their lives from a dragon, and never came back for me.” Fucking hell, man! Oddly enough, I feel like in-game, Ashton failing the communication challenge could be a good thing. It's like: you did your best, your friends did their best, they guided you calmly and lovingly, you thought on your toes, and stuff still went to shit. And that's okay. Your friends were still there waiting for you at the end of the line. Sometimes everyone does their best and stuff still doesn't work out. It doesn't mean anyone abandons each other or gives up on a second shot.
Ashton's friends didn't do their best though, Fearne and Imogen did, but FCG and the rest, they made noise after being explicitly told the consequences of it and caused him to fall.
@@mayaenglish5424 Not FCG - Sam. Sam kept making loud noises and that caused all the issues. Matt should have knocked FCG unconscious and left them there to kill him if it continues.
@@timmadigan potato potAto between Sam and FCG honestly, he's the one who least stays in character of all of them and say's a lot of "sam" things as FCG so It's often hard to distinguish with him. As for matt knocking him unconscious, that's taking away player agency, instead, he stung him repeatedly with wasps as a warning which he ignored because a troll's gotta troll.
Another massive W for Sam being a good friend, by handing Laura the Mister plushy. Not just because of the comfort, but because he read her bodylanguage of being self-conscious of her cleavage when she had to lean forward.
That's what it was? I'm on my 5th re-watch 'cause that challenge's so good and I still just thought he was getting some super-human read of how tense she was holding the mini. That makes way more sense.

The fact that Matt punished them with distracting and annoying wasps for their inability to silence their typical chattering DURING A COMMUNICATION EXERCISE is a delicious irony. They just couldn't help themselves.
in retrospect he shoulda let them go hog wild cuz all their undirected yelling was probably more of a major distraction to the blindfolded players. that would be a better test of communication than two people ASMRing in a quiet room.
I didn't clock that at first and though he was just giving her a comfort plushie to calm her down. But after someone pointing it out I noticed her adjusting her blouse before he did it and that he said: I'm giving this to you for "other reasons".
That was one of the things I noticed about that whole blindfold exercise that gave me such warm and loving feelings - like yeah Sam (and a couple others to a lesser extent) were being shits to whoever was blindfolded, but not in any way that mattered. Never tricking someone into falling or putting their hand in their drink, helping guide hands to needed items, calm and caring demeanors when guiding the cast members, not messing with their stuff or moving things without making sure people were aware and okay with it...I know for the Hells it was an exercise in communication, but for the audience it was really another show of the trust and love this group has developed over the last 10+ years
Was about to post this. Reminds me of him blocking the camera in C2 so it couldnt see Laura's baby bump when she got up from the table before she was ready to announce her pregnancy. Such a wholseome guy.
As someone who’s actually blind, can confirm random strangers shouting directions is just as stressful as the second challenge. If only more people were like Laura and Travis or just let me do my thing. Travel skills are a mandatory part of a blind person’s curriculum. They know what they’re doing.
You've piqued my interest. May I ask how are you handling playing TTRGPs when you're blind? I'm genuinely curious, since recently I find myself introducing more and more people into the game, it may be just a matter of time before I have the opportunity to introduce someone with more or less severe vision impairment.
@@Ralesong I actually haven’t had many opportunities to play them myself yet, but I’m hoping that’ll change in the future. But I have given it some thought. Whatever you can digitize would likely make it easier for the VI player. So things like character sheet apps, digital rule AND stat books, and dice roller apps, people with low or no vision would be able to use these with a device that has a built-in screen reader, which most do nowadays. For non-electronic options, large print, character sheets and stat information and I’ve come across large novelty dice at comic book stores they may have a practical use in this case, but it might get a little goofy, depending on how many dies they need to roll in a single roll. You could of course use normal dice and just have somebody read their roll for them. Which leads to the last option having a friend with them who can keep track of stats and take down game notes for them if none of the other options work. also, encouraging them to make flashcards of their characters Spells and attacks would help them find what they need to know and save every one time.
@@Ralesongi imagine them listening to audio of ppl just play is the best way to get into it, thats how i learn a lot (not vision impaired tho) I imagine the biggest challenge is getting into the rulebook (braille prly can handle that but idk how difficult it is to get a braille rulebook) i played blackjack with a dude that was blind one night, we met randomly at a table and the dealer's accent made it difficult to understand so i told him what the cards were and he and i spent prly 6 hours at the casino together and he knew strategy SUPER well and helped me. I imagine someone with vision impairment could actually be among the best players in a game just due to how mechanics work
I went to college with a blind friend. He used to give driving directions in real-time, including landmarks. He’d been blind for longer than he lived in that city, so I was surprised how well he “visually understood” his environment.
Just as a question, a few nights ago I saw a blind person walking at the train station that followed the guide lines right to a vomit puddle. I walked fast to them and told them to hold on for a second and explained the situation and helped them of course. My problem was that I seemed to have surprised the person when I started talking to them. Is there a way to kind of start a conversation that you would prefer? How do I make clear, that I am speaking to them without surprising and shocking them in the process?
The truths revealed during the honesty test (spoilers): Fresh Cut Grass: They enjoy eating silver more than copper. Sometimes they pity members of Bells Hells - particularly Chetney - for wasting the opportunities in life afforded by their beating hearts. They are disturbed that killing and inflicting harm feels good, and reduces their stress, as they think of themselves as a healer, not a killer. Despite their newfound faith, they worry the Changebringer doesn’t care about them. Imogen: She’s genuinely scared to see her mother, Liliana Temult, again. She deeply loves Laudna, but the fact that Delilah Briarwood is always watching them disgusts her. She has tried all of her life to pray to the gods, but has never gotten a response. She feels like she is tainted, and the gods ignore her, finishing with, “I don’t know if I wanna save gods who don’t love me.” She is disappointed in Fearne for not embracing her power by taking the fire titan shard. Chetney: He claimed that wood is superiority to metal, but the chasm responded with a swarm of leeches. He then said that he is afraid woodcrafting, and himself by extension, will become obsolete due to the increasing proliferation of metal crafting. Chetney as a young man left home to fins himself, and when he came back, his entire family was gone, including his five siblings Alabaster, Pepper, Sugarplum, Hermey, and Chad, and the only things left behind were toys. This is why he never gets attached to people, because he is afraid they will abandon him too. He is also afraid that all of his siblings are dead, and he has no family left. Laudna: Laudna says that both she and Delilah want the fire titan shard, but she is not sure that she can tell the difference anymore from where her wants and desires end and Delilah's begin. She sometimes (all the time) fantasizes about Bells Hells abandoning their mission to stop Predathos. Orym: He confessed that he’s lonely all the time. Especially at night, regardless of whether or not his friends are sleeping beside him. He sometimes wonders if Chetney might be his dad. He believes in and has confidence in every member of Bell's Hells, but he has also thought about how to neutralize each of them if needed, as they are all potential time bombs that could turn against the party. He really misses Dorian Storm, and questions whether that is okay or not. Ashton: They are the reason the Jiana Hexum robbery went sideways and The Nobodies abandoned him before breaking up. They worry about one member of the party accidentally killing another one. They wished that they had died during the failed attempt to take in the fire titan shard, because they caused so much pain to Fearne in the attempt and aftermath. Fearne: She is afraid that Bells Hells will fail in their mission to stop Ludinus from releasing Predathos (Laudna agrees with Fearne). She does things to the rest of Bells Hells while they sleep, like look at their faces really closely and mess with their hair. But nothing weird or inappropriate. Pate De Rolo: "I'm a construct, I don't have feelings!" (When asked if he feels anything) "She's my creator." (When asked how he feels about Laudna)
I really like the parallel of when caleb (liam) was in the shit molly (tal) gave a kiss on his forehead trying cheer him up and years later in a different campaign orym (liam) does the same with ashton (tal)
Wait Liam is caleb, Ashton is played by Tal, Tal played Molly, Orym is played by Liam?? It's a good thing you made use of their names brackets or we would have all been clueless....
@TahiriVeila13ABY you're going to gripe about something on every comment, huh? This is the third one I've seen. Lighten up or leave people alone, jeez.
Love it how Travis completely let go of his Chet voice and personality and being a parents team with Laura, like as to keep Ronin safe while walking across a seriously dangerous way. Shows how much he wants Orym / Liam make it through safely. He is fully Travis knowing what a fail would cost them. He's highly concentrated, so is Laura. Proof is "you are there, honey". Fully Laura "Mother" Bailey mode here.
2:54:33 The face of a man who's just realized that the person in the group he has the most in common with is freaking Chetney. Congrats on the new grandpa, Ashton!
This is one of my favorite CR episodes of the entire campaign, it had everything! And hats off to Matt for once again keeping his players on their toes and giving them an absolute blast of a time.
coming across you randomly in the comment section is like running into your teacher at the grocery store except it's your grocery teacher. nope not gonna try to come up with a better analogy
Yeah ignore that fucker from the character sheet channel(or whatever the hell it's called). If they want to take a break from the main narrative for a trust building side quest, that's their choice.
3:26:44 Something I love about Sam is the quiet care he has for his friends. He just spotted the small gesture from Laura and immediately gave her Mister to help.
He's been the best girlfriend many times over the years. A great friend to all of them. I didn't want to bring attention to it, but Modesty Mister is a great product. ❤
He also noticed immediately that Laura seemed nervous and insecure just before her challenge began and he started quietly describing to her what was happening around her. Very attentive and kindly accommodating.
Damn, Liam is a smart player. Not only was it totally in character for Orym to take Nana Morri's final challenge, but he also knew he was one of the few people in the group with reliable dex saves. (And of course, who wouldn't pick Laura for directions after hearing Ashton's go?)
Watching Liam's strategizing is one of the most entertaining parts of the show for me. It's often masterful. Not just reliable dex saves, but also Halfling luck meaning he re-rolls natural ones, which would be auto-fails no matter how good your save bonus is.
I actually really appreciate Sam at 3:04:00-you can hear from the change in his tone of voice that he’s being totally upfront that he’s not going to mess with the blindfolded cast. You very rarely hear him talk like there’s no joke behind it, but it’s great that he can be serious in that way.
Yea! especially when Laura said "now I don't trust you" and Sam immediately changed his tone, and admitted he wouldn't want it done to him as well. what a great group of friends!
That paired with Sam handing Laura Mister when he knew she was uncomfortable really showed that he was serious when he said that. He's a goof, but he knows when not to joke too.
@@jimmoriarty9440 I was going to say that too! Genuinely good friend moment there and he wasn't being super obvious about it, just noticed her discomfort.
I see why Travis is such a good CEO espec 3:51:24 when he just sat back because he knew his job was done letting other people (Laura Bailey queen of my heart) do their thing perfectly fine without him interfering
Travis is a pretty great guy isn't he! and laura mother fucking bailey has got to be everyone's queen... love her sense of humour... but I actually love em all seem like a great bunch of people
This is one of CR best episodes ever. It also why I'd rather watch CR than TV. Thumbs up for Matt's creative storytelling and forcing the characters to revel truths that they would rather have kept secret. Well done all. Also, Nana is gaining Gilmore and Pumat Sol status in my eyes. But... Is she helping because she loves Ferne or because, Fearne is hers and hers alone?
Also, fun fact, in this episode she referred to Fearne as hers but she also referred to all of them as her Hells, since Nana Morri is a Fey and words have a very important meaning to them I think that they have ascended to a position in wich Nana Morri sees them as her property, so she will let them be and grow and mature but in the end she will come and claim them all. To be clear, it's just a theory and maybe I'm reading way deep into things and could have been only an Innocent phrase, but come on, we have been here for 3 seasons :P And to be honest it wouldn't be that bad if she treats them as family. IDK.
2:43:47 My favorite Truth: Orym saying he has all the faith in all of them but has also thought about how to neutralize each of them. He is just so lovely but also very practical! 🥰
Good Gawd, an hour in I'm realizing what a large void Liam's/Oryms absence left, last episode. After the party spent most of the episode telling Ashton how shitty & selfish it was for them to pull the shitty & selfish thing they pulled. Orym just taking that little moment was perfect. Not telling them what or how they should feel. Not reminding them how upset everyone is. Just letting them know that he cares about them and that the party does indeed want/need them there. Orym has definitely grown into my favorite of Liams characters. Just the wee but powerful Oak that actually holds this group of assholes together.
Yeah but Orym also said that Ashton needs to push their shit down for the good of the mission, which is obviously in character, but I wouldn't call it good advice.
@@samuelstensgaard4828 You're not wrong. The group is about to go to the damned moon to deal with an extremely powerful wizard and possibly an entity known as The God Eater. Telling Ashton to suck it up isn't the worst advice he could give. Orym wants them focused on the task and not their own neurosis'. Not saying Orym is right or wrong for doing it. Just a nice moment of Orym being there for Ashton while doing what's good for the mission, and not simply shitting on him for making a mistake or using them as an excuse to have their own dramatic moments.
Yeah as much as I understood and sympathized with the other character's feelings, I also really was missing that grounding force that Orym always is when it comes to conflict resolution. He's very much the emotional glue, and that's a position we've never really seen Liam take before. Personally I think he does a great job of it. It's important to keep an eye on what really matters at the end of the day. When the entire world is at stake, this level of team division won't get anyone anywhere regardless of personal conflicts. So I'm glad Orym was at least there this episode to be someone solid for Ashton to lean on while he processes things. Even if they weren't in the right and neither was Fearne really. They don't exactly have time to do years of group counseling before Ludinous strikes, so I feel like it's very fair to take the perspective of 'let's shelve this for a minute and focus on saving the world right now'. The drama created from the situation and a lack of presence from Orym was excellent from a storytelling perspective though.
shitty and selfish? when he tried to protect his friend from everyones vile peer pressure, and sacrificed himself multiple times? Ashton a fucking hero, and the rest of them are some of the shittiest people ever for the way they treated him. and Matts amature hour retcon was some of the worst DM'ing ive ever seen
Yeah mate, the moment Liam went "Laura... and Travis" I was like "Ah, fuck yeah, power couple in action!" I think them two would have been the best choice, not only from their performance but thanks to their synergy, I coupldn't wait to see them cooperate. They are just such couple goals
Doing the maze. Liam being the frantic dad, while Sam is the panic dad who gets punished Travis being the calm husband giving instructions to Laura. Laura and Ashley being Kindergarten teachers, guiding an Eldritch being using positive reinforcement. Travis and Laura, full on calm, parent mode guiding their child, Liam.
Hello Critters. I've been working on catching up on this campaign for the past few months, and I'm proud to announce I am now a member of the Monday gang! Thanks for having me. Looking forward to suffering between episodes together.
Good to have you. Been here since late campaign 2. Sometimes the 4 hours are too much for me to sit down and watch so I like to bank them for long weekends too.
Orym being so quick to volunteer for the high stakes run hit me in my heart so deeply given the things he shared and i am waiting with baited breath in the hopes one of the other party members brings that up. I'm having so many Thoughts and Feelings about it all.
Yup. It was probably a mixture of: 1. I'm the protector, I look out for the wellbeing of these guys 2. I never shy away from a challenge 3. If I die here, at least I won't feel so alone any longer.
yuuup, been thinking a lot about how Orym's fighting style is quite self sacrificing as a whole and this feels like an extension of that, only probably exascerbated out of guilt for triggering the wasps and out of what I took to be a level of passive suicidality/"I'm okay if i die in a way that I can't be brought back from" guarded recklessness. I am really loving the slow illustration that Orym does in fact not have his shit together mentally in the way the rest of the group thinks he does, and that, like the rest of them, he is also a time-bomb in the sense that he is very much depressed and overwhelmed and lonely. Liam plays slow burn angst out so well with his characters, often in really subtle ways that in hindsight are a huge gut punch when you notice them.
Yeah, I agree with the character reasons others listed for Orym, but meta-wise Liam probably also realized that even with disadvantage his dex saves are gonna blow everyone else out of the water. @sexytinatrainconductress7791
Which I did enjoy, but that right there is exactly why I've been less a fan of this campaign. I personally am craving more action as well as old fashioned DnD type roleplaying. This campaign has had a distinct lack of character conflict. If the party is all happy and hunky dory and getting along super well and fully understand and thrust each other...to me that's not really all that fun. It sets a precedence tameness that I hope they move on from.
@@yetibeardson1168 I'm loving it all so far. The beginnings of all campaigns I've seen are my least favorite, the middle has my favorite one-off moments, and the ends are my genuine pleasure. Especially the Mighty Nein Ending. Some parts of Bells Hells had been overwhelming, boring, or interesting, to be kind. Many parts have been wonderful, innovative, and the most hilarious I've seen across all of Critical Role.
@@yetibeardson1168 Many sharp edges and whatnot also exist throughout the party. I'm sure that with time and at this stage of the campaign, all is playing out as it should. Action is a bit lacking at a balanced rate at the moment.
@@yetibeardson1168 Did you not watch last episode with the harness and the Spark of Rau'shan where Chetney told Ashton to leave the group, Fearne almost bashed his head in with his own hammer, and Laudna reignited her link to Delilah because she felt betrayed by him?
@@vyomrane1237 It just seems to be a lot more just hanging around and talking things over this campaign as opposed to exploring and doing things. And soooo much of that talking and conversation either doesn't go anywhere or goes in circles. Im not saying im not enjoying it, I am. It's just missing that spark the last two had. I think a big part of that is they all feel a bit gunshy when it comes to having their characters do extreme or wildly insane things. Talisin of course being the exception.
59:00 Im just happy Orym talked with ashton about the shard-stuff and his first concern was to tell him, that the group cared about him. I kinda needed that.
Pretty sure Ashton needed it as much as we did. Everyone else effectively tore him a new one and, while they weren't wrong to be angry, it's important that the object of your anger knows its from a place of care.
Yay for the return of Liam! And WOW, what an episode. Absolute kudos to Matt for this one, I was so ridiculously invested in this whole thing from start to finish and am slavering for this week's ep as a result! (Spoilers below.) ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... I really hope that the truths that came out aren't just one-and-done'd after this. I want some legit fallout/repercussions/honest talks about the various things that were said (and WEREN'T said) during the Honesty part of all this. Blurting out truths and then ignoring them is no better than not saying anything at all.
Like, they’ll OBVIOUSLY discuss Chetney’s family, Ashton’s deep issues, and FCG’s hidden love of murder, but there’s some other interesting stuff in there too. Like Imogen feeling like Delihlah (sp?) was blocking Laudna.
They are the epitome of couple goals. Like, that's such a cliche/meme, but the transformation was instant, and even recorded, through RUclips, their connection is -electric-. They are perfection.
2:48:45 "I really miss Dorian, and sometimes i think that's ok and sometimes I think its not" .... Orym Nat 20 on my heart with his sword bc it feels like he stabbed me. Ooh Orym 🥺. Fearne has Scry and the pan flute... U guys can check on him 🙃. I miss Dorian too. Bring back Dorian 😭
I think that Orym is trying to say that he has a crush on Dorian, and the "sometimes ok, sometimes not" is because he feels guilty that he is betraying his late husband
Laura: is blindfolded The witches: alright, let's go Travis: move over, this is my wife I know how to guide her! I also love how the "communication" game got less chaotic over time, with Ashton having the gentlest experience of them all
Built in a very real punishment for too many of them speaking at once and then introduced a game mechanic that made it so that they weren't allowed to speak. And it STILL almost didn't work. The chaos at the beginning would have definitely gotten them all killed.
Fearne’s story hits so close to home for me now. My mother is my biological mother, but my dad adopted me when I was a baby. My biological father was a real piece of trash. I didn’t find out about this until I was 18. This brought back a lot of feelings.
Man I really feel for Fearne she clearly isnt crazy about the shard but its clear that the rest of Bells are going to make her to take it anyway. Tbh I feel like part of what made it so easy for Fearne and Ashton to decide to pull a fast one was the fact that no one ever actually asked either of them what they wanted. Kinda hope we end up with Dark Fearne not as a punishment but definitely as a natural consequence.
I hope the Trust game can lead to honest discussions about who should take the shard. Imogen and Laudna still want Fearne to take it, and Fearne hasn't really disclosed her fears yet.
Thank you. I wish more people brought this up. Fearne skated hard on this honesty test by not revealing anything of importance towards chemistry in the group. Granted, she wasn't the only one. The background knowledge is fascinating from some members, but I was hoping for more honesty of how the group views one another so they can clear the air. Yet back to Fearne and the shard. Its felt like certain members have pushed this task on to her. And she has timidly shied away from embracing it. Yet when Chet confronts her last episode, as great as most of his speech was, he pins the guilt on her with questions about, "Why are you afraid of it? It'll make you more badass!" when that's only part of the ordeal. WHY does the group feel like THEY have to press Fearne to take the shard? Why does the group feel like Fearne 'needs' to be more badass? Why does the group feel they need to use the shard to begin with if no one outside of Ashton truly wants it? Laudna's confession is blurry, as I lean that its more Delilah that wants it. Fearne's only connection to this shard is fire affinity; but even that's a stretch for being a reason to place a ancient extreme artifact into your person. They need to address her feelings about it and stop borderline guilting her into this choice.
The sad truth is Ashley is going to submit into peer pressure most likely. I fear she will confess she was afraid and that the groups right, that its her burden...which is messed up. Ashley is more of the quiet observing player who is more a fan than a player at times. In non-intense story moments she will have fun and troll, but the moment stuff gets real she buckles up. That's not fault on her, but fault on others to exploit that and veer her in a direction she never wanted.
This has got to be the coolest way to do a puzzle for a ttrpg game for people who have been playing for 10+ years! I cried/laughed during the entire second half of the episode. The reveals and antics make this one of my favorite episodes of the entire campaign.
I sort of wanted Fearn to say out loud that she didn't want the dumb crystal and that she needs Laudna, Imogen and everyone to stop pushing her to take something she wants nothing to do with...
Agreed. I hope Ashley doesn't give in to peer pressure and take the shard purely to appease others thoughts. The whole honest trail should have been more about honestly toward each other and current events. Because that's the primary reason they are here.
And it was neat to see. Sam absolutely did not stop fucking with their characters. Like telling Chet to sprint. But actual Sam promise to not fuck with their stuff or physical bodies and he absolutely didn't. He wants laughs but not at the expensive someone's safety, though he will fuck with their comfort.
Tbh I REALLY hope the twist for trust test is that none of them are actually dopelgangers. And if there are, Im hoping it's either Imogen, Orym, or Chet. I feel like they're the ones who can get the juciest with it and the others except for maybe FCG need this test more than the former three.
whatever happens will be interesting to see since theyve (specifically laudna, orym, and ashton) already had major run ins with people pretending to be someone theyre not (yu and bor'dor)
I unironically think that twist would be so much better a whole "Distrust makes a party fall apart, even when the paranoia isn't real and you all love eachother, the slightest mind snap can break a tight bond" That would be so dope and I'm definately doing it in my game if this ever comes up
Yeah, I take one look at the setup (particularly how much of it is being done off-camera) and immediately know - these dopplers are only there as part of a mind game.
I love how in the scavenger hunt, it went from Bell's Hells dealing with Nani Moris (and FCGs?) plotting, to Critical Role helping each other thru Matts plotting. Brilliant and beautiful episode.
I LOVE Sam's sense of humour and how he's always trying to make a joke, but I really respect that he knows when to go into sincere mode. At 3:03:56 when he promises they won't fuck with others while they're blindfolded because he wouldn't want someone to do that to him, And at 3:26:43 when Laura can't tell (blindfolded) if her cleavage is going too low and he softly hands her the plushie so she can know she's covered. Laura's voice is so anxious/relieved when she figures out what he's doing
Awesome episode! Loved the truths reveal especially with Chetney's past and him finally showing some vulnerability. And then there's the trust exercise. Such good suspense but so much calmness with the way they had to handle it. So good.
I hope they make a "company retreat" module based on this. So far, these trials seem quite malleable and customizable for any party that has been together for a while. Even in game, I can see them recommending "Nana mori's trust exercises" to other groups.
Every minute of these episodes nowadays I keep chanting to myself “Give Orym the spark, give him the spark, spark his interest, spark the tinder, fan the flames, earth wind and fire, give orym the spark, give it, give the nonmagical boi magic, give him, him have fire, fire do good, fire sword, give fire, set orym on fire, do it now.”
Glad to have Liam back! I hope they decide to make plush versions of Fearne's pets/friends. The descriptions are so vivid. I'd love to have some kind of collectable Sweet Pea or Peepers!
I can't wait to see where this goes with that Fearne lore reveal but most importantly kudos to Matt with those challenges, he killed it! It was amazing and it was exciting for everyone and so much fun, I hope we get to see what those truths lead to
The last two episodes have been amazing. The "Truth" section had me in stitches. Reminded me of why I liked these characters so much during the first 20 episodes.

@@timmadigan potato potAto between Sam and FCG honestly, he's the one who least stays in character of all of them and say's a lot of "sam" things as FCG so It's often hard to distinguish with him.

The truths revealed during the honesty test (spoilers):
Fresh Cut Grass:
They enjoy eating silver more than copper.
Imogen:
She’s genuinely scared to see her mother, Liliana Temult, again.
She deeply loves Laudna, but the fact that Delilah Briarwood is always watching them disgusts her.
She has tried all of her life to pray to the gods, but has never gotten a response. She feels like she is tainted, and the gods ignore her, finishing with, “I don’t know if I wanna save gods who don’t love me.”
She is disappointed in Fearne for not embracing her power by taking the fire titan shard.
Chetney:
He claimed that wood is superiority to metal, but the chasm responded with a swarm of leeches.
Laudna:
Laudna says that both she and Delilah want the fire titan shard, but she is not sure that she can tell the difference anymore from where her wants and desires end and Delilah's begin.
She sometimes (all the time) fantasizes about Bells Hells abandoning their mission to stop Predathos.
Orym:
He confessed that he’s lonely all the time.
Ashton:
They are the reason the Jiana Hexum robbery went sideways and The Nobodies abandoned him before breaking up.
They worry about one member of the party accidentally killing another one.
They wished that they had died during the failed attempt to take in the fire titan shard, because they caused so much pain to Fearne in the attempt and aftermath.
Fearne:
She is afraid that Bells Hells will fail in their mission to stop Ludinus from releasing Predathos (Laudna agrees with Fearne).
She does things to the rest of Bells Hells while they sleep, like look at their faces really closely and mess with their hair. But nothing weird or inappropriate.
Pate De Rolo:
"I'm a construct, I don't have feelings!" (When asked if he feels anything)
"She's my creator." (When asked how he feels about Laudna)
I would say Orym prefacing the "neutralize" line with professing that he believes in each and every one of them also counts.
I had hoped to hear more of Fearne, but it is in her nature to not go too deep with her emotions
@@ForestRaptor And she would be smart enough not to reveal that she cheated on the coin flip to choose between resurrecting Orym or Laudna.

Damn, Liam is a smart player. Not only was it totally in character for Orym to take Nana Morri's final challenge, but he also knew he was one of the few people in the group with reliable dex saves. (And of course, who wouldn't pick Laura for directions after hearing Ashton's go?)
Huh, here I was thinking he chose to do it himself because he knew he found it really hard not to try and help when he couldn't
Watching Liam's strategizing is one of the most entertaining parts of the show for me. It's often masterful. Not just reliable dex saves, but also Halfling luck meaning he re-rolls natural ones, which would be auto-fails no matter how good your save bonus is.
This is the same thought I had. As soon as Mori said someone else should go I thought Orym has the best dex if anything goes wrong
@@ColonelHazard 1's arent autofails on anything but attack rolls mate
Poor Sam. It's just like Matt to tell him "Moving on..." Just like he moved on from his responsibility as a father. 😥

And then he proceeds to try his hardest to get chet to run off the platform with a shit eating grin on his face
And he was the cause of most of the wasps, causing Ashton to fall.
Ashley as Fearne: “Stop.”
Sam as Fearne: “ Staahp….” 😂
Oh man, I love when he impersonates her.
Are those two things mutually exclusive? She could truly love her and view her as hers. Even if it's unhealthy
To be clear, it's just a theory and maybe I'm reading way deep into things and could have been only an Innocent phrase, but come on, we have been here for 3 seasons :P
And to be honest it wouldn't be that bad if she treats them as family.
IDK.
Nana Mori couldn't even carry Gilmore or Pumats luggage. This whole iteration of the Fae Wild is a miss.

2:43:47 My favorite Truth: Orym saying he has all the faith in all of them but has also thought about how to neutralize each of them. He is just so lovely but also very practical! 🥰
Orym feels like he is to Bells Hells what Batman is to the Justice League.
Just a nice moment of Orym being there for Ashton while doing what's good for the mission, and not simply shitting on him for making a mistake or using them as an excuse to have their own dramatic moments.
that's exactly why it was good he was gone

Welcome, friend! The wait gives you time to gather the snacks :)
Orym being so quick to volunteer for the high stakes run hit me in my heart so deeply given the things he shared and i am waiting with baited breath in the hopes one of the other party members brings that up.
I'm having so many Thoughts and Feelings about it all.
Yup. It was probably a mixture of:
1. I'm the protector, I look out for the wellbeing of these guys
2. I never shy away from a challenge
3. If I die here, at least I won't feel so alone any longer.
@@Quotenwagnerianer and dont forget the IRL "Because i made noise, bees got put on the board and Ashton fell off so i should take this bullet"
yuuup, been thinking a lot about how Orym's fighting style is quite self sacrificing as a whole and this feels like an extension of that, only probably exascerbated out of guilt for triggering the wasps and out of what I took to be a level of passive suicidality/"I'm okay if i die in a way that I can't be brought back from" guarded recklessness.
Interesting my first thought was Orym has the highest dex
Yeah, I agree with the character reasons others listed for Orym, but meta-wise Liam probably also realized that even with disadvantage his dex saves are gonna blow everyone else out of the water. @sexytinatrainconductress7791
The latter half of this episode is actually a legit trust exercise between the cast as real friends more than just their characters.
Orym with the "Batman inside justice league" vibes: I trust all of you. I believe in all of you. And I have contingencies plans for all of you."
Even after all these years, Matt is still adding new elements to his style and growing as a DM.
59:00 Im just happy Orym talked with ashton about the shard-stuff and his first concern was to tell him, that the group cared about him. I kinda needed that.
I needed that too. Last episode made sense and was necessary but it was also a bit tough to watch
Pretty sure Ashton needed it as much as we did. Everyone else effectively tore him a new one and, while they weren't wrong to be angry, it's important that the object of your anger knows its from a place of care.

3:56:25 Laura and Liam still twining after all these years.
An unbreakable bond, no doubt about that. ♥️

The kid finally became taller than his father
Sam has short person energy
I think it’s because every campaign character he’s played has been small (gnome, goblin, halfling, robit)
i was hoping someone else thought it was weird! i always picture sam as short as his characters lmao
Fearne’s story hits so close to home for me now. My mother is my biological mother, but my dad adopted me when I was a baby. My biological father was a real piece of trash. I didn’t find out about this until I was 18. This brought back a lot of feelings.
Everything after the break is so incredibly entertaining
Man I really feel for Fearne she clearly isnt crazy about the shard but its clear that the rest of Bells are going to make her to take it anyway. Tbh I feel like part of what made it so easy for Fearne and Ashton to decide to pull a fast one was the fact that no one ever actually asked either of them what they wanted. Kinda hope we end up with Dark Fearne not as a punishment but definitely as a natural consequence.
In this episode, you will see the exceptionally rare and exciting *"Blindfolded Dice Roll"*
I hope the Trust game can lead to honest discussions about who should take the shard. Imogen and Laudna still want Fearne to take it, and Fearne hasn't really disclosed her fears yet.
I really hoped the honesty segment would be her expoaing thatbpart of Fearne
During the Communication trial, every time Orym yelled out, "Stop!" I kept expecting someone to reply with, "collaborate and listen!"
But is that really true or is she just scared of what it might do? Does she even know herself ?
"Casts honor," that's really cool knowing they have that concept among them.
I feel like they're the ones who can get the juciest with it and the others except for maybe FCG need this test more than the former three.
oooh that would be such a juicy twist! i can see matt doing that just to mess with them
whatever happens will be interesting to see since theyve (specifically laudna, orym, and ashton) already had major run ins with people pretending to be someone theyre not (yu and bor'dor)
Well we called it gentlemen
I love how in the scavenger hunt, it went from Bell's Hells dealing with Nani Moris (and FCGs?) plotting, to Critical Role helping each other thru Matts plotting. Brilliant and beautiful episode.
I LOVE Sam's sense of humour and how he's always trying to make a joke, but I really respect that he knows when to go into sincere mode.
At 3:03:56 when he promises they won't fuck with others while they're blindfolded because he wouldn't want someone to do that to him,
And at 3:26:43 when Laura can't tell (blindfolded) if her cleavage is going too low and he softly hands her the plushie so she can know she's covered. Laura's voice is so anxious/relieved when she figures out what he's doing
2:53:58 This confession from Chetney made me go "DAYUM!" because that was honestly one hell of a gut punch!
Awesome episode! Loved the truths reveal especially with Chetney's past and him finally showing some vulnerability. And then there's the trust exercise. Such good suspense but so much calmness with the way they had to handle it. So good.
Fearne has now canonically, in my mind, said "Sorry, minor dyslexia".
I swear to god, i thought for a good 5 minutes that luidinus was gonna be fearnes father
Not gonna lie, I was holding my breath so bad
I hope they make a "company retreat" module based on this. So far, these trials seem quite malleable and customizable for any party that has been together for a while. Even in game, I can see them recommending "Nana mori's trust exercises" to other groups.
IM CRYINGG😂😂 Watching Laura during Fearnes conversation with her mom is hilarious shes so invested
Laura's face when Sam said "oh no they're touching your dice so much" is peak laura to me
