      @@TaherHashim hey I dont know if you found help yet or not but acouple tips I have is its all about follow through. Have your hand in the cookie jar. Have your arm in a 45 degree angle pointing toward the rim. Alot of people find aiming at certain spots help so play around with it for a bit and see what happens. Maybe shooting isn't your thing. There's been lots of gaurds that are poor shooters but great inside scoring and passing (jason williams, mike conley and Russell westbrook to name a few)

    Very interesting point about low set point. It really helps a lot when shooting long range shots. But I feel it is harder to control the ball for mid-range shots as you tend to have a bit too much power.
    If you shoot in the paint, having a high set point and a simple flick of the wrist is a lot easier to master.

    • @snyperhoops9678
      @snyperhoops9678 2 года назад

      Yes Mat, that's a two motion shot and perfectly fine-in the paint , where you can hang in the air as well.

    @ShotMechanics I can't thank you enough for always picking up and pointing out all the little nuances of mechanics, moves, et al., in a ways that is always easy to understand, do the mental reps, and then implement out there on the court.
    I just turned 40, yet I'm better now than I was when I thought I was in my prime in my teens/20s, and it's 99% thanks to fixing subtle little mistakes I never knew I was making and/or didn't know how to fix them that I picked up from your channel.
    I wish RUclips was around when I was a kid, so for all of you out there who love ballin' and have access to this channel, put it to good use and never stop practicing.

  • @davidf2244

    I've found that my shot feels most comfortable and effortlessly swishes with a set point covering my dominant/shooting eye. I know Curry shoots this way, which encourages me, but it feels so weird to cover my eye during my shot. I'm slowly getting used to it.
    Right now I'm struggling with combining the motion of picking up my dribble or dipping off the catch, and the motion that follows reaching my set point where I launch the ball. They don't feel like they're coming together into one motion yet. I hope that changes soon

    • @MathieuPilot
      @MathieuPilot 3 года назад

      The set point position should not be a long pause in the motion and covering your shooting only for a very brief time. Also most shooters tilt their head slightly to the left like Steph Curry to keep vision of the basket.

    Hey coach! The biggest burning question that I just can’t seem to find is how to play on offense. I see all these videos on moves you can do to get by your defender, but when I’m in a 5v5 game, I’m completely lost on how to make decisions on whether to pass or try to beat my defender. Offense is the one part of basketball I’ve never truly been able to understand. Do you have any tips for me?

    You know what confuses me? That the shot should all be in one motion but you see the pros and a lot of good players do these two motion jump shots where they freeze in the air, and when I do that i feel like my % of making it goes down a ton. However, if I release from the ground in one motion its % of going in is higher if Im ready and not being D'd. But when do i use that two motion jump shot?? and when I use it isnt it bad bc im sucking up the motion of the ball with the 2nd motion where i hang in the air?

    The hop into shot is good for rhythm but it's also a tell to the defender. Pulling up off a 1-2, (L,R and R,L) and being able to do it off left and right hand dribble will allow you to be more deceptive. Obviously Murray is crazy effective getting his defender off balance before getting into the hop but not the best method for slower footed players.

      The best way to aim is look at the back of the rim and keep your eyes on the rim till the shot goes in. If you are wondering how to know how much power to use the answer is practice. Shoot from every spot and shoot a lot from each and you will be able to get a feel for any distance. Hope this helps
