This adjustment really does work. I’m usualy an inconsistant shooters but I tried this and I hit a really high amount of threes after I got use to it, thanks coach 🔥
Learning this was the thing that really brought all my practice together. It gave me a very consistent movement to my set point, stroke, and then how the ball came off my hand. This used to change the longer I shot and how far away I was, now it is always the same and if it isn't I usually know exactly what I did wrong.
Great video. I’ve recently started playing competitive basketball and i wanted to improve my game before the next season starts and your videos really helped me improve my handles and shooting. Thank you coach❤️🏀
I picked this up from watching a lot of steph's videos. I've been using it for a while now and I can second coach's claim about how some people are going to love it.
3 yrs ago when I first watched this and tried it didn't work for (shooting hand behind ball worked for me) but now my hands have gotten bigger and i have had difficulty getting my hand/wrist straight under the ball so im gonna try this again. (Rn im seeing how my form looks and it's already looking better than b4. I'll see how it looks at the court but I think im gonna see improvement ) Edit: I tried it out and when I made my shots and rotated correctly it looked good. In a couple weeks I'll be consistent. Edit#2: Today I was able to extend my range to the ft line. Ty bro
Hey coach, I love your videos, but you got a minor mistake in the description: it reads "as soon as you coach." instead of as soon as you catch. I know, it is really minor, just wanted to tell you. Thanks for the video, it comforts me to know, that I am not the only one who feels more fluent while shooting, if I do the palm rotation!
Tyler Herro shooting form pls😣. And your Kyrie Irving dribbling and finished secrets changed me so much. I went from a spot up shooter, to feared scoring guard. The only thing I'm working on now is getting my jumper more consistent. And after watching Tyler Herro, I want to try that out.😁
I get both schools of thought. I think palm rotation works more for people who shoot in front of their eyes. Palm behind the ball works for more for the matt bonner type where the shot is almost from the side of his head. Do you think palm rotation adds left or right misses? You have to rotate it the perfect amount so the hand ends uo square to the basket.
Colin, any tips on softening the guide hand? I definitely got into a bad habit of sticking my guide hand to the ball and now it rotates to top of ball when I've completed palm rotation with the shooting hand.
Practice shooting one-handed free throws and make sure ur elbow ends up at or above ur eyebrows This will help u get used to having no guide hand which will correlate to softening it as well as helping ur shooting arc
Please post a more detailed video regarding shooting action and getting power and height to the arc. Also use of guide hand coz whenever I try high release I totally lose my direction
do you teach your players to shoot from one side of their body, as in after they load and jump do you tell them to release the ball from their shooting hand side of their head or straight in front of their face?
Colin, how often have you hurt your left pinky finger? I have the same condition but maybe more noticeable. I broke my pinky 3 times and dislocated at the middle knuckle 3 times. 3 times playing basketball and three times doing tar Keon do. I had to pull it from out of its socket and put it back in. I never noticed it stuck out like that until a black belt practitioner during my 1st degree test pointed it out. It really helps when I shoot left handed. Do you have lessons on how to improve a shot using a non-dominant hand? Had to play left handed a while from a right wrist injury, falling on ice. Seems I am unable to stay off the hardwoods, my go to sanctuary
I'll try this one out. My old shooting form was too tense because I had my palm on the bottom of the ball right away. I thought your shooting form was kinda weird coach. Kind of like two hand shooting but nope there's a rotation behind it. Thx for the tips. Im not excel at shooting but if I learn it prob can be a game changer.
I like the palm rotation off of dribbling with my left hand or if I catch the ball in a weird position where I can’t get my hand behind the ball initially
My dad does this an can barly walk an he shoots nba 3s by doi g this but i shoot really good with my hand in the back but i get no spin an sone days im consistent and some days im not Any tips
Hey i have a problem when i shoot. I use all your tips, and i have a great form. But at one point theres a issue, i keep bricking shots hitting the back of the rim or the sides of the rim. And at one point my fingers fling the ball. And i get frustrated and wanna cry. Do you have tips to stop this, and where should i aim at the hoop? The front? Or like something specific. Please respond :(
it might be a targeting issue, if you already saw this in one of his videos, i recommend just looking at the hoop in practice for like 5-10 seconds straight then shooting off dribble. This also, for me anyway seems to add a lot of range to my jumpshot as i feel more relaxed but that might just be me.
Arc arc arc arc annnd arc until it's a NBA Jam type arc thennnnn time it down bit by bit. This worked for me after adjustment on adjustment on adjustment. Positive side is i know alot about shooting and actually splash. Lol
Depends on the situation. If you are deep and need the sway it could help you add range. If you are closer and the d is tight to you, there isn’t much room to sway
How about a floppy guide hand? I shoot don’t get me wrong I could hit shots still but I’m wondering if there’s any small change I can make since I have a floppy guide hand that flops to the side into the ball? And ideas?
Try adding as little pressure to the ball as possible with your guide hand. If it doesn’t completely stop the problem at least it will make sure your floppy guide hand doesn’t affect your shot
@@Ninethepoet I’m gonna try that. Last month my guide hand was going inward. Now it’s going outward. I don’t understand how this is happening if I’ve been shooting every day and haven’t noticed until I looked a couple days ago on a clip of myself shooting around for 10 minutes. Any ideas?
Honestly Your aim is what matters the most All you need is power and precision and you've cracked basketball Power and precision go hand in hand Without power, shots won't reach the rim and precision will be useless Without precision, shots would mostly just rebound
