My friends all think I'm nuts when I tell them that my all-time favorite song is 21 minutes long, has no verses, choruses or lyrics to speak of and is better off considered as a tune with five or six distinctive "movements" than anything remotely resembling a pop song. I have listened to this almost certainly at least a thousand times since 1996 and I hear something both new and familiar with each listen. It will never grow old for me and, while looking to the past for inspiration, is still radically ahead of its time

I hope one day the historical importance of this piece will be realized on a large scale.

2016, 20 years passed, and still a great sound to listen to.

This an album I did not think I will ever get sick of. I think this is Tortoise's best album.

I love this song because it reminds me of Krautrock bands Neu!, Faust and Can! It's awesome!

Very similar reason to why I enjoy it. Can is my favorite band, and this just reminds me of them so much!

It reminds me of Neu!'s first album the most. I love Can's Tago Mago.

Yeah, the first 10 minutes really reminds me of Hallogallo from that album, and it sort of reminded me of Can's Monster Movie sans lyrics in a way as well. Tago Mago is my favorite album of all time.

Yeah Hallogallo! That's a great song. I used to have all of the Neu! albums on my computer. I really like Faust and Amun Duul II.

I love this song because it reminds me of 1996 driving round Detroit and Michigan, and getting me into the Fender Bass VI and electric pianos

There's a bunch of quantization noise at top due to compression. You can hear it in the cymbals. This does sound way better on the CD. Great album!

and of course because the music is so good it doesn't matter, just like listening to Stax classics - it hopefully makes us buy the albums so that Tortoise get some rewards
