PLEASE keep the sewing videos!!! I have the first universal side cutter and have never been successful at getting it to cut right. I started just using the overlock stitch and cutting as closely as possible. After watching your video, I’m going to try it again and think I’ll be much more successful.
I’m so happy I found your channel!! Excellent video! I just bought a new sewing machine to replace my 30+ year old clunker. I don’t think my husband would be pleased if I told him I now need a serger, too! LOL!
Thank you for your comment. I haven't had time to put up a lot of new videos lately due to my hubby's health. However, I'm hoping to get back to it very soon. What kind of sewing machine did you buy? I'd love to help you with anything you need in learning some of the new "stuff" they put on machines now-a-days. I love using a side cutter. Hope you enjoy it.
@@ComeHobbyWithUS Hi Judy, i bought a Singer Quantum Stylist. They were having a sale with free shipping. Overall it was about half price. I used a Singer growing up. I really liked the bobbins that you wind in place. My mom was a dress maker. The old one was a bottom of the line Brother and I always had trouble with the tension. It literally make a clunking noise. Might be able to fix it, but I’d rather put the money in a new machine. I’m sorry to hear about your husband. Hope he gets better soon! Jane
You’re welcome 😊 I'm glad it was of help to you. It took me a while to figure that side cutter out. It's all about helping each other. Let me know what other topics would make a good video. I've been sewing for probably 68 years now. I'm not young, but I have gathered a little wisdom, tips, and tricks along the way.
I love your video, thank you so much for your help! Can you make a curve or corners with the universal type? Will the seam eventually unravel from the ends with a zig zag stitch? I've got a singer simple machine so I am limited on stitch patterns...
I have not seen any unraveling when using the side cutter but I do recommend locking stitches when you can. And yes, you can do a curve and corners. Just go slower on curve. For corners I sew off the edge then start again for other edge. This double sewing at corner also helps lock stitches in. I hope this helps. I need to get back to making videos. Seeing a current comment encourages me.
I just saw your messages. Two of the side cutters didn't have a brand name on them but they are cheap and inexpensive. The one is a Brother Brand. It was one of the no name brands that had the lever that lifted up. I'm glad you found it online I love using the side cutter and I also hate threading a serger machine. I have had two different sergers - an inexpensive one and an expensive one. I will never buy another serger. I'm glad the video helped you.
For the Chiffon you may need to adjust your tension. You can sew a zigzag with a different color thread in the bobbin to adjust it. Then the thread might go better through the cutter foot.
I researched this and didn't find one for a high shank sewing machine. However, you might try an attachment that lets you use low shank feet on a high shank machine. I found some at these links: amzn.to/3TMat2L amzn.to/3JMuotv amzn.to/3lHZYkd See if one of those will work. Price is good at $6.99.
It sounds like you need to adjust your tension. That will cause your threads to be loose and can also cause a needle to break. Also be sure you have enough fabric up to or just beyond the cutting blade. I hope this helps
It worked on my brother embroidery machine when using it as a sewing machine. It wouldn’t work with the embroidery hoops in place of course but would when using as a sewing machine. Hope this helps you.

Let me know if you have any problems or questions with it. It took me a bit to get the hang of it. Happy sewing.
Thank you for the guidence with the side cutter. I just received the side cutter , and this really helped.

Thank you, I was going to get rid of this cutter because I didn’t know how to use it properly. I’m very happy. Gracias
I'm glad the video was of some help. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need more help with it. It took me a while to figure it all out.
Thank you for clear instructions
Great topic, thanks 👍
So happy I found you !!! I have been wanting to get a serger but going to try this first .....
Yes, please try this. Some people will still want and love a serger, but this is a better method for me and my projects.
I think you may have just saved me $1200.00!
Let me know how you like using a side cutter.
Thanks Judy, I just got one of these and it came with no information at all
Forgot to ask: What is the brand of the one that has the lever that raises up?

Actually, I think I found it online. Could you please identify the first one you demonstrated? Thank you for this video!

The first one looks like the Singer part I was looking at online.

Thank you so much for the advice. I hope others watching this go through the comments so they see this. Appreciate your comment.
Please is there side cutter for high shank sewing machines?

@@ComeHobbyWithUS thank you ma'am for this information
My needle keeps breaking and the top and bottom thread is loose

Does it work on embroidery machine too?
