Actually youre seeing like 15% to 20% less performance for 80% to 85% the price originally. Sooooo it literally scales. People see 12cu vs 4cu and dont realize its all power limited anyways. BTW the non extreme Z1 runs cooler and is $399 right now.
$400 is hard to ignore honestly,i have steam deck but it’s limited by linux, many games don’t run well or at all.I heard the z1 is even more powerful than the SD so for $400,i think it’s a steal
I love this channel but, the graphs need a remodel ASAP, i paused and looked at them for 30 sec and my head was still hurting. Make 1080p under 720p for each device and the 1% low IN the average bar or something like that.
Seriously lol, I was soo confused. So many things were needlessly difficult to understand, but instead of listing them I'll just say to look at how the bigger channels make them and use a similar format^ (you can do your own unique version obviously, but just the format itself should def be similar)
I have found on this one website in the UK that you can get the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme model for literally 20 DOLLARS MORE than the Z1 model, absolute bargain!
I think steam deck is the safest option right now. It holds It's value pretty well for what is offering, especially if you can find a second hand in good condition.
Just for the sake of completeness, the Z1 not only has 6 cores, it has ONLY 2 x "Zen4", 4 x "Zen4c" cores! Huge difference to the Z1E with 8x "Zen4" cores!
The z1 is much more affordable for me personally at 400 so I’m gonna get that one even though I already have the 64 GB emmc storage version of the steam deck
This video has aged like fine milk 😁Z1 has dropped in price and is realistically decent handheld for games released in PS4 era, as well for current e-sports titles.
Well, he did say at the end that maybe it would be worth it if they reduced the price. But, yeah, I just purchased the Z1 model myself, and am really enjoying it. AMD RSR really makes up for having to run most games at 720p!
Here in Brazil, they only sell the Z1Ex version and it ends up being very expensive. I'm thinking about the Z1 version, importing directly for the purchase price and as my use is limited, in addition to the Steam Deck not having the Game Pass.
I prefer the 7840U devices. Mostly because of the Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 ports and the option to configure them with 32GB of RAM. Literally just the RAM thing makes the difference of being able to play every game ever, even the ones that Steam Deck and Ally can’t run in a playable state. Titles like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora can’t even get a consistent 30fps at 720p with upscaling, frame generation, and the lowest possible settings on the deck and ally. Purely because of the 16GB shared RAM limit. I won’t get the deck for many reasons, but mostly because of the relatively weak APU compared to most other options even if they are double the price. The Ally fixes the weak APU problem with the Deck, but still fails to function on the most demanding titles because of that RAM limit. I’ll never get a deck. I would consider an Ally if the next gen has USB 4/Thunderbolt 4 and a 32GB RAM option. Until then, I’ll enjoy my GPD Win Mini. It has a 7840U, 32GB of shared RAM, and a USB 4 40gbps. That’s my main thing I look for and want in my handhelds because those specs mean I can literally play any PC game out there no matter what it is. Sure on the really difficult to run games I am stuck at 720p 30fps, but Its always playable, looks good and smooth, and for most titles out right now are as rough as avatar meaning I can get 1080p 40-60fps most of the time. Oh yeah 120hz screen is a must for me too because handhelds really benefit from 40fps capabilities with how hard it is to get 60 on them It’s also got some bonuses too like the clamshell design protecting the screen and a full integrated keyboard. I love this thing.
I got a Z1 second hand for under $400, and as long as you don’t set your standards too high it can play games well. Like I can get 30+ fps in Horizon Zero Dawn at 1080 medium and low settings(with fsr at quality), in other games I do 900 or 720p. But this one is definitely more of a 30fps type than 60fps. They only thing I don’t like is battery life but I carry a 60 watt power bank so it works out
I'm actually tempted to do the same. I don't need a handheld device daily, as I have a powerful gaming PC, but for the times I travel, which is a couple of times per year, I think it would be nice to have, so I'm considering a basic Z1 model, to put a couple of good older titles on it, that I either didn't get a chance to play yet, or wanted to replay for a while, so I can go back to them when I have a bit of time at an airport or in a hotel room, or while laying in bed listening to some podcast or something. Plus, at home, I can stream from my 4090 powered gaming PC!
developers of linux distros ChimeraOS and Nobara have been hard at work to get linux working on the ally mostly flawlessly, i’d recommend that when it’s done to get a similar to steam deck experience
@@Jumwad i have a steam deck and ive tried the same games in "game" mode and in desktop mode and its a night and day difference. Game mode im guessing disables all the background services required for a functioning desktop OS and that i suspect is the main thing that gives such a boost in performance.

Just picked one up for $400. Can’t wait! Mostly wanna play older lightweight games like dishonored 1
@corvexlovrok agreed! Picked my Z1 today for $399 at Best Buy.
Just grabbed one for 400 the z1 and couldent be more happier with it so didn't just save 100 bucks save 300 so deffly worth it for 400
The basic z1 performs the same as a deck is cheaper and has a great screen

For sure, just experimenting with a new format. I’ll make corrections for future benchmarks 🤓

Was the Z1 Extreme an absolute bargain, or was the Z1 an absolute rip-off at that time?
For $400 The Z1 is pretty pretty good.

I love mine, best purchase I ever made
i have asus rog ally z1 extreme and now im going to get the oled version of steam deck
@@edyosedsame 😄
I am thinking of getting either an rog ally or the new oled steam deck@@edyosed
Current situation is that Z1 is cheaper than Steam Deck 512 GB, so definitely go with Z1.
Way better off to spend the extra $100,
Or just get the base model steam deck 💫
Either or for sure.
Absolutely.
@SpecterTech what is the game you playing @1:31
I guess it is probably "Midnight Fight Express"

Yes, I decided on the non extreme Z for the games I play. For $400 its freaking great. Many games still run at 60fps.

If old steamdecks can run CP2077 with ease then this should be fine for most titles and cloud games
So based on budget, which one i should buy?
Steamdeck LCD or ROG Ally Z1?
Please help me guys
Get an ally it comes with an led screen ... it isn't OLED but it's good enough ...and you can run some pretty heavy games on it
@@dankenjojo8741 Depends on your local prices. Always look for performance/price ratio, do not buy brands.

There was a store in Brazil selling it for 2799

I bought Steam Deck 😎💪 Better than all
Eww
Agreed
Easy version is don't need to buy because even power version give low graphic in aaa games
I buy the Z1 normal for 365 dollars, so is god for me, nice video c:
the z1 base model is it better than steam deck?
A little bit I purchased some older Steam games and they worked great on it
I got this 500€
no true sd fix still asus QC is garbage
It's an extra 100 bucks, if you are going to get something get the best one.

@GhostSlay3r he means windows in general and he's 100% right, windows is holding back most computers nowadays not just the ally 😅
