    ABOUT KIRK HAMMETT
    Kirk Hammett, guitarist of the band Metallica, is extremely recognizable to people around the world. As a band, they've won eight Grammy awards, and five of their albums debuted at #1 on Billboard's charts. Metallica has sold over 110 million records, and they are among the most commercially successful bands of all time. Also an avid collector of horror and sci-fi movie posters, his popularity spans genres. "Every room that I had the posters in, I would always make sure I had a guitar and amp in that room for if they inspired me to play", he said about his horror movie posters in Rolling Stone in August 2017.

    He's always seemed like a really nice bloke, very normal, quite geeky, and surprisingly small ego for the lead guitarist from the biggest metal band on the planet. (although some would argue that Maiden hold that 'title').

    • @mdnblues
      @mdnblues 2 года назад

      Maiden are quite famous, but they haven't sold as many albums as Metallica, they don't have as many views on their music videos, they don't have as big a following on social media, they don't play for such big crowds and their music isn't as streamed on Spotify or other services. So I think it's safe to say that both bands are huge, but Metallica are a lot more famous if you count the numbers. Also, I was surprised to see how low the Iron Maiden members' net worth is - only Dickinson has a net worth of like 100 million while 3 out of 4 Metallica members have a net worth of AT LEAST 200 million each, with Lars being worth like 350 million. It's crazy.

      Maybe he simply was trying to point out who played it in addition to the two most obvious people. Seemed like he immediately thought to mention Hendrix, because that's Hendrix and you gotta mention him and because that might not be well known. Then he does list a few that played it probably because of their association with Moore; but everyone knows Moore played it. I wonder if Page ever played it.

    So glad Kirk got Peter's / Gary's Les Paul. It's an historic instrument and it's in safe hands, that's plain to see. I can but imagine what it feels like to play that particular example. I should imagine Kirk has seen and heard how one of his heroes Gary Moore would coax out those tones, obviously a special set of electronics in there. The set he did with BB King, the rebutling Guitars was amazing and Gary used Greeny to maximum effect. If you haven't seen Gary Moore and BB King performing King's The Thrill has Gone then do yourself a favour and have a gander, it's a real treat. Kirk got some great photo's with Peter before he passed, i thought that was fantastic and just makes me feel more confident that the Guitar has found the right home. I know Kirk plays the heavier style for his Bread and Butter but there's a bit of a Blues man in all of us. Thanks for the upload fellas's, much appreciated.

      They often change guitar companies because the people that they were working with at that company leave and work somewhere else. The relationship is no longer alive. Then the company might take a long time to make guitars for them after that individual or group of folks leave because the artist or endorsements are not important to the new staff. You've just proved my point on your maturity level with profanity and anger... I don't have to make a "stance" to you, or anyone else. If i think Kirk is a little softheaded by taking that Guitar on tour, so be it. That is all...

    Gibson's doing 50 "Greeny" Guitars, so I guess Kirk does more or less work for Gibson now...wonder how much of a cut he's getting from the 70k price tag for one?

    Just turning the neck pickup around doesn't change the sound that much. It was reversing the wiring of it too that gave it the out of phase sound when used in parallel with the bridge pickup

    • @Spankplanker
      @Spankplanker 3 года назад +1

      The magnet was accidentally inverted at the factory, during construction, and the wiring remains original. This resulted in reversing the polarity, which, when combined with the bridge pick-up, cancelled out the similarities of the 2 signals. What you hear is the "difference" of the two pick-ups.

    Nothing against Kirk..seems like decent guy…however Greeny will always to my mind be associated with Peter Green…and Gary Moore…their playing I don’t know fit Greeny better….more blues feeling ..by both those guys…that flipped magnet in neck position also was an anomaly…to Greeny LP alone..I do respect Kirk Hammet….for taking the iconic Les Paul and actually playing it like so many players oh no I’m not taking my ..59…lol😂…he cud use the 50k version we might not know..mmm

    No, ESP custom shop isn't busy making guitar for Kirk. They're busy sculpting guitar body for Takamiya.
    Seriously, Kirk signature guitar is just M-II body with custom artwork, paint, and inlay. Japanese ESP artists have wackier body shape and spec than any KH signature. But, I have to admit Kirk and Hetfield are the most successful ESP artist.
