Thank You!!! You are the first youtuber that I have seen who actually talks about routing cables and power. Everyone else just glosses over cable management for Sim Rigs
Yeah I was lucky that my initial (poor) cable management didn’t give me any issues but I read quite a bit on fanatec forums when I had their gear, about electrical interference causing problems and just re-routing power cables away from data cables solved most issues for folks
New sub! Thank you so much. Ive been researching aluminium rigs forever and I finally feel confident on picking one. I Also wont cheap out on the seat, comfort is important! Thank you!
Thanks for going a bit more into the weeds than some of the other videos. It would be helpful to know which muscle groups you want to engage. For steering I like to almost feel like I'm doing pushups (extending the arm) to turn the wheel, feeling the weight of the car in the hand/arm on the top of the wheel. If I get things right I can feel the connection from the seat through my shoulder all the way up through my arm to the wheel and it's almost like I feel weight transfer with my pectoral muscles. If I get it slightly off I feel the lactic acid building up in my biceps or the front or back of my shoulder. It's hard to find any information on this and I have no idea how much variation there is in this. Same questions for braking as well. Do you use the ball of your foot (engaging the calf), or push more with the heel (freeing up the calf for more nuanced modulation)?
didnt even realize you had a rigmetal rig until i saw the stand. mines almost done and i am struggling (flagship instructions suck) and i hope i get all the ergos right. also have a weak right shoulder cuff cause bowling from 6 to 23.
Yeah it's worth investing the time and being open to adjusting in a bit over the first month to dial the position in. The steering wheel height and distance I found to be the most impactful in terms of upper body strain, especially shoulders so try to allow for good adjustability of your wheelbase and seat if you can
Awesome video thankyou! My rig turns up In two weeks so this is so helpful, I’m so torn as to what distance to have the screen, right on top of the wheel shaft or behind the base.
Glad you found it useful! It’s probably not as big a deal as you think. I had my screens above the wheelbase shaft for 2yrs and enjoyed the closeness of the screen. When I needed to push it back behind the wheelbase with my Simucube, I was concerned I’d really feel the difference. In all honesty, once I adjusted the FoV, it probably took 10-15mins to feel normal again. Go with what feels right and you can always adjust later. Enjoy the build!
Thankyou for the reply, I’ve gone with Simucube as well. I’ll see how much space I have between the wheel and the base, thankfully that looks like the last thing you positioned. Haha I really don’t think I’m going to enjoy the build 😂, but I’ll enjoy it once it’s done. Your cable management section of the video was really cool, I’m gonna enjoy that part…… I think.
@@granta27 Yeah cable management is weirdly satisfying IMO, especially when you uncover some of the tricks around power cable routing and wireless dongles
Thanks you for this video. Im still tweaking my seating position as I’m getting lower back pains on longer sessions. Any tips you might have to resolve my issue?
I don't have any other tips than what's in the video as I wouldn't class myself a seating position expert. The 2 things that helped me with lower back was raising the pedal deck and making sure I'm not too far away from my wheelbase so there's no "reaching" happening, even when on full lock
Just a remark - know about people with sliding seat and this can cause noises - in my case I measured place for the seat and I did it with screws no movement possible and that’s rock solid and best …😊
H, great tutorial as always. I’m upgrading a 34” ultra-wide to triple 32s. What way would you recommend connecting to the PC. Should all screens by on a display port?
What’s your GPU? My 4090 has 3xDP and 1xHDMI so I put the triples through the DP ports for consistency, I don’t think it’d matter if 1 was connected to the HDMI but I’ve never tried it
My understanding is VRR should work fine on current specs of DP and HDMI, in the past I think there was sometimes issues getting VRR working on earlier versions of the HDMI standard
Yeah that’s a fair point, there’s a bunch of other good videos out there that focus only on seating position. From memory, I think Daniel Morad’s is a good one
Hey mate! Im not sure where you're from (im from Canada) but your voice/accent/cadence reminds me a lot of peter Windsor? Would you guys be from the same area or something like that?
What are you using as a shelf under your pedal tray to hold the Bass Shaker amp? Is that an old pedal tray that's flipped upside down? I was just trying to figure out the best way to do that exact solution. Thanks!
That is a great spot! It's the original pedal tray from the sim-lab GT1 EVO cockpit which I swapped out for the one from the P1X when I upgraded to heusinkveld ultimates. Seemed liked a good way to keep it in use. Should've just gone with a P1X originally but you live and learn!
Samsung G5 Odyssey 32in 144hz. Kinda wish I’d bought the equivalent spec G-Sync monitors rather than freesync as I run an nvidia GPU but they’ve worked well
Might be the angle you see them at on the video but they tuck in next to me. Any closer and it’d be hard to get in the seat! I think my angle is 65 degrees
As a beginner to sim racing I've watched hours and hours of RUclips, but this is by far the best rig guide I've watched Thank you
Awesome, thank you!

This is a very informative and clear great video, I needed this 2 years ago😅. I hope people new to sim racing find your video in time.
Glad it was helpful! I hope so too :-)
All very good points and very informative. I'm sure there is a lot of folks out there wish they knew all of this while building their rigs.
Myself included, haha
I just got my prime lite today and this popped up as soon as I open RUclips 🙌🙌🤣
Perfect timing! Enjoy the build
Brilliantly explained. Going to readjust my rig. I could listen to you all day long. Hopefully we will see more :)
Glad you found it helpful and enjoyable! There will be more to come :-)
Great video for someone setting up a rig.
Happy to hear it was helpful!
A lot of great tips. Thank you.
Glad you found it useful!
A lot of good info here, thanks for putting this out.
Thanks for taking the time to check it out!
The message on the wall ❤
I know, kids have their moments :-)
Today my rig will arrive, you're video is the way .. thanks brother
Awesome, enjoy the setup! I love building it all up, such a feeling of accomplishment once it’s done!

Thanks for the sub!
Great video. Thorough and informative. Earned the sub. ✌🏼
Thanks for the support!

Good video, check out the Getail design shaft extension to get the monitor in front of the base
Thanks for the tip! I’ll take a look

In the process of building my rig now and back watching. Great video.
@ Good luck, hope it goes well!
Pure gold, thanks a lot!
You're welcome!
Thanks for the informative video! Looks like my Rig Metal monitor stand.
Did you get yours from sim-lab? All of my frame pieces are from that company, found them to be great to buy from

@@S1Races it’s a 3080 and have checked there, it has 3x DPs and 1x HDMI, so straightforward then. Newbie to triples, probably daft question. Thanks.
Very helpful thank you.
Happy to hear it was useful!
Good video man but there is lack of visualization, like the seating position as your title said

Originally the NW of England which is the origin of the accent!, Now based in Calgary
Great video.
Are you a audiophile?
No, I don't think I'd class myself in that category! I do enjoy good audio though so always open to learning more :-)

clean setup! what monitors are you using?
Samsung G5 Odyssey 32in 144hz. Kinda wish I’d bought the equivalent spec G-Sync monitors rather than freesync as I run an nvidia GPU but they’ve worked well
@@S1Races great thank you for the suggestion. Working on my own triple 32 setup
Arent your monitors set up to wide? I have the same and they rap around the seat.
Might be the angle you see them at on the video but they tuck in next to me. Any closer and it’d be hard to get in the seat! I think my angle is 65 degrees
what size are those 3 monitors? 27" or 32"? tks
32”
What front mount is that for your base?
Front mount EVO from sim-lab

oh gosh i build my setup 1 week ago 😂
Don't worry, you'll be tweaking it for years to come, haha! How did it go?
we are not interested in your face, put yourself less in the center of the video. And the rest is okm
😂
