You have my attention. This engine build maybe exactly what I need for my Microbus . The 1500cc engine died at 130,000 miles back in 1997. Since then I ‘ve run a 1641 cc from a 1971 Beetle. Carry on 🤙
Mike I love your informative show, I’m like you and enjoy building motors and more I’m from Australia and if I visit your country would be interested to meet you to talk motors and more 😊😊
Good choices on the engine build. I like the style of stock appearance. With the oil cooler mods it should run fairly cool - your area is hot in the summer and the bucket truck is a heavy vehicle. Thank You for the video 👍
Hey Mike ! on a Auto linea case made in 1999 the pump fit was so bad it had 4 lbs hot and I took a Mellings cast iron pump soldered around the nlet and exit holes shoe shinned it in and the same engine went to 45 lbs hot . When it had 4 lbs it was the same Mellings pump . The problem with 30mm pumps they want to shear the rivets between the cam core and gear .
Sounds like a fun build Mike, have you considered or looked into a stock cam with 1.4s ? I did a floor sweeper 1914cc with a stock cam and 1.3s and it's great.
too small duration for me. Stock is only 226 duration or something like that. I am doing 276 duration. and 420 lift. stock is 224 and 226 or something like that. that is only 336 lift. still super flat.
Cool, I have a Baja bug, it has a 1835cc thick wall in it. The original motor is a 1600 single port I was thinking of building a single port 1800cc for a spare motor
well I wish you did cuz you're a no-nonsense common sense kind of guy😊@@MikefngarageI build vw's daily I'm just camera shy and I look up to the people who have been doing it longer than me I just don't understand why people want to be haters information is information and if you used to want it ,you had to work hard to find it .I learn something everyday from your channel and I want to say thank you and I appreciate it, I have an extensive VW literature library but to hear someone who's eating and breathing it like myself I can take your information to the bank✌️
really about the same for this build. their cranks are their own but about the same as these. I would have bought theirs because is was about 5 or 10 cheaper. their rods are machined just a bit better but these work just fine.

oh yea perfect for a bus or heavy truck or something you want to have a little power with and keep up with traffic

ooh, single port magic. Now you've got my attention! Saved to watch tonight, thanks Mike:)
Enjoy!
Mike please do a video on the hole build so i can do one too thanks

yea should run a little cooler than stock on the heads and about stock on the oil. Which is better.
Awsome bro. Godbless you and your family.
Same to you
Hit a stud grinding my case. Spark lit up the mag dust scared the hell out of me
dont want to do that.

yea especially on a flat cam. dished maybe not. I like 26s just fine for me.
@@Mikefngarage it was a 4 rivet and I thought it was knocking a rod

Great tips!
Glad you think so!
show the oil pump fit
yes sir on the build videos. I am trying to schedule time with George.
Are you going to have the case line bored?
always should have it done. Yea it is already done.
I have a budget of $20,000 for a 2110 fuel injection. Do you have any thoughts
2180 with thick wall cylinders would be just as bulletproof. EFI would be great. CB performance has a good one for that.
By short rods do you mean Porsche length?
I am not sure if they are Porshe length but it is 5.325 stock is 5.4
Did you used to write for hot VW magazine? 😊 Why can't Africa sell VW beetles, because an elephant will screw anything with the trunk in the front😂✌️
no not me
