I like some of the stories but the cinematography compared to my fav shows like house of the dragon or any of primes best shows or Apple TVs best shows, look really good, the color grading is great, cinematography great but Disney just looking cheap but spend so much money, there’s no reason the Kenobi show shouldnt look as good as House of the Dragon cinematography wise

    Really liked the Sith guy. Yes it was obviously him because there were no other characters left but I thought he was totally badass and believable as a threat. I never found Kylo Ren the least bit intimidating, behaving as he did like a whiny teenager but this guy seemed properly unhinged and I hope he's around for a while.

    I think the comparison between tv series and movies is disingenuous. There will always be a difference between how tv and how big budget movies look and it is because of the time and budget given to different mediums. And as someone who’s worked in film/tv for many years, it’s a bit annoying hearing them say they should have just shot out in an actual forest. Their issues with the cut trees would have stayed the same. You can’t cut down trees in a forest for your tv series, the trees would have still be cgi

    • @Dietepamplemousse
      @Dietepamplemousse 3 месяца назад +2

      Also streaming shows do have deadlines. Sure they could delay release, but they don’t just film a tv series and then be like “we’ll air their whenever it’s done”.

    • @jeremykrall1694
      @jeremykrall1694 3 месяца назад

      Well maybe if they used the CGI to show the trees falling the correct way it would have helped a little. The angle of the cuts and the spread of the branches, the trees should have dropped between the two characters. Which would have been completely hilarious!

    • @Dietepamplemousse
      @Dietepamplemousse 3 месяца назад +1

      @@jeremykrall1694that’s a valid criticism. I wasn’t really watching closely enough to notice but I completely agree that with a little more care the trees could have felt more real. But that wouldn’t have changed if they were on location in a forest. The trees probably still would have been animated to fall the same.

    • @jeremykrall1694
      @jeremykrall1694 3 месяца назад

      @@Dietepamplemousse Right, they wouldn't have the trees fall between the characters. That would have caused too many issues. But the CGI could have been done to slice the trees in the opposite direction so they wouldn't be defying physics.

      @Secretsongs20 3 месяца назад +2

      @@robbabecki1737 In ep. 4, She told Qimir they would not put her in prison once she told them what she knew. She does have valuable information for the Jedi: “the Siths that you think are extinct returned and I know who he is and where he’s hiding, and I’ll help you identify him.” They needed her, in exchange for a pardon. She probably planned to blame Qimir and say it was his plan to kill Indara and push Torbin to kill himself. She may say he threatened to kill her if she refused, so she had no choice than obey. In reality, from the Jedi’s perspective, Qimir is the real mastermind, she’s just a pawn. They keep asking: “Who trained her?” Her Master is the real threat, not Mae. But once Qimir exposed himself to Sol and the others on Brendack, she knew he would kill them all. So at that point, she just ran for her life. Change of plan.

    Random thought: I’ve always felt like igniting a light saber should require the user to hold down a button to keep it lit. Otherwise Qimir would’ve needed to basically smash the button twice as many times and twice as fast to accomplish that kill of X23 girl.

      I think in some of the EU stuff that is non-canon now it has been explained that there are different designs and some may require the user to maintain pressure on the button/switch at all times, others have a little locking mechanism to keep it activated when the lock is engaged, etc.
      Two other considerations:
      1) The user might be able to manipulate the controls with the Force.
      2) The lightsabers can detect which behavior will achieve the most dramatic effect in any given scene and act appropriately...

    Enjoy these breakdowns and explanations about the Star Wars Universe. I’m am not a Star Wars expert but really enjoy watching. Not being knowledgable enough of the nuances, could I ask you a couple of questions please?
    1. How can Disney move forward in this universe to create a series/film that can both satisfy experts and non-experts of Star Wars? As in, keep someone like me entertained and someone like you happy with the details.
    2. How have they made these mistakes considering they have enough money to research and pay for anything they want to do?
    From a personal point of view, I have really enjoyed this series more than most of the series, which, on the whole I liked.

Like when D V tries to take Obi's hands but fails this time. And the play on the high ground ties into the phantom menace and Return of the J in some really cool ways. They chopped up the fight in this episode in too many weird ways. But it did have some cool moments.

Disney Star Wars however, has no characters or story that i care about. I tried but there is nothing. I don’t care. And that is exactly what Disney did. They ripped the heart out of the franchise. Ashoka, Kenobi and Bobba for sure didn't and they're close to George's idea.. but if we go further I can say that precuels had a lot of issues, but fans love anything he does/says, this series was hated from the beginning and it has a difficult format for people but it has a lot of good things more than the bad..

    I think it's best if you stay away of production and budgeting aspects of the show if you clearly are just guessing. Do research. Invite a producer or Director of Photography speaker to give their input. Dune kept its budget "cheap" because most of the talent had multi-picture contracts. Less Money in actors might mean more money in Cameras, Glass, lights, rigs, SFX, VFX. Dune got only one Director (with his ADs). A show have multiple Directors each with multiple ADs. In a film the DP asks for equipment given the scenes and pre production meetings, location etc. and THEN tighten his lighting request. In a show, like Star Wars, where we don't always go back to the same locations we have multiple light conditions on different planets and sets that MUST look different. Spaceships looks nice, because they are small sets and similar to rig lights. But towns or places very wide needs bigger and more expensive lights. Expensive in terms of rental and in terms of energy they need. Budget needs to be split even or shared across the whole project when speaking about a multi episode format. There's a lot, and I mean A LOT of things being ignored when the budget arguments comes. As Stanley Kubrick said: It takes 2 years to finish a film (any big project really) and it takes only 2 hours for a critic to destroy it. I would love to see film/show reviewers and critics to spend a week on set with 12hrs+ on a 6 days a weeks schedule to really grasp and understand how hard this things are. And YET not always everything comes across, it always goes down to Script and Budget.

And let me tell you something, he is quite adamant about that this show is dumb. I asked him why. He told me, that it is boring and he does not like any of the people in it. They are boring and talk weird. ...A 10 year old saying that... He had no issues with gender, and race and anything in speical for this show. He liked the setting, the swords, all that magical stuff, yet he dropped out on episode 4 already.
      Again I asky myself for whom is this show made? A lot of diverse people do not like it, a lot of typical fans don't like it, kids don't like it. ...What is the audience supposed to be?! The only people really hyping this show are doing it for the wrong reasons. For them it has little to do with storytelling, good acting, the setting, or anything, but only the politicum for what the show makers are standing for.

She over explained and gets lost in the minutiae, that she interprets is present (Ii.e. the mix of CGI & practical stunts) And, the comparison of the very first fight scene with the wirework, is a moot point b/c it had NO lightsaber action, at all!!!! Yes it was a fantastic scene, but to compare the two or have that be the bar you are using to judge future LIGHTSABER fights against is ludicrous! Apples & Oranges!!

But Jecki becoming stronger because of the hate she feels in this fight is actually not that far off. In the end the „problem“ of this scene might be our interpretation of the „Sith“. For example, if he‘s a Sith Lord, then Jecki bringing him to the edge feels weird. If he‘s an apprentice or an acolyte himself it would be okay. I‘m going with Qimir being an apprentice. And if your point is now that an apprentice should not be able to defeat Jedi masters, then just remember Maul. Still the show is mid and could have been so much more.

I keep hearing how the show isn’t “cinematic” enough. It isn’t cinema. It was shot for a different venue, with different budgets and different scheduling than film. Every negative comparison was to a movie. They are two completely different things. If want to let loose on what you don’t like, keep it fair. Constrain the comparisons to other SW limited series are. Or at the very least, compare it to other limited series. Otherwise, we are getting a flase comparison with impossible expectations. Rule of 2 was actually hated by many Sith Lords and they often did NOT follow it, including Tenebrous and Plagius. They both had many apprentices. Imagine being a Jedi in the same room as Ki Adi Mundi, at this point its only about a day after your communications with Sol. You sent a team consisting of Masters, Knights and Padawans to make contact with another Master to capture one Jedi killer. Based on what was presented, the killer had an accomplice and a Master, so 3 people at most. 10 well-trained Jedi is definitely enough for the job. Would you expect some casualties? Maybe, but for all of them to be dead? Probably not. At this point you have no reason to expect for things to go wrong.
    Imagine being Mae. You just told your plans to the Master and he's here to kill you. The Jedi is here to capture you. You're f**ked. You're scared; the best you could do right now is to get away as fast as possible.

They really should of taken it more seriously than they did but instead they sent Sol and what pretty much amounted to the B Team... Not many people in this universe can kill a Jedi master much less 2 of them, at least in the Jedi's eyes. So the fact that they are aware that a single person (and they are aware that it's one person... not 2 or 3) killed 2 masters and yet they still only send the Rookie Squad makes little sense.

    Mae intended to turn herself into the Wookie and had that plan all set up to give up her master. But as soon as she sees him dead and her master appear all that went out the window. She now has to survive because her master was there to kill the Jedi and her for betraying him. She is now in a panic because she's in the wrong place/wrong time with her master and a dead Jedi (after she's already killed two) so she now just has to get away especially from her master.
