Sometimes higher drops doesn't equate better ride. It's the anticipation of the drop. For me Tower of Terror's random unpredictable drops makes it scary even though the drops aren't that high.

Thought there was a countdown on mega king tower but since we were that high we didn't here a single thing and we were dropped while I was thinking that we were fine. They stalled us up there for a full minute so once we were taken to the top again (the ride has 2 cycles) the thing stops but in reality its moving up slowly. I was thinking i woudnt fall for it so i knew we would have to wait a minute until it drops and then it drops a few seconds later. Arguably the best experience ive had on a drop tower (better than that kiddie drop tower that takes you to an astounding 5 meters).

Falcon’s Fury is probably the scariest ride I’ve been on. I rarely ever get intimidated by rides, but being on that thing made me second guess going on! It’s my favorite drop tower I’ve ever ridden because of how ridiculously tall it is and of course it forcing you to look straight down! What a crazy feeling it is being dropped 300 feet in what’s essentially a belly flop position.

There were two unique drop towers in Liseberg untill a couple of years ago and they were called Höjdskräcken and Uppskjutet.
Uppskjutet was like a normal drop tower, but backwards, instead of being dropped from the peak, you were shot up from the ground into the sky. So the anticipation came at ground level since you didn't stall at the top.
Höjdskräcken was like Uppskjutet but backwards, instead of being dropped at the top, you were shot down from the top and therefore you had a higher acceleration and with that a higher speed than the usual droptower.
They were closed in 2016 - 2017 and were two of my favorite "drop towers". I'm sure that you would have loved them as well.

If an S&S Space Shot is programmed correctly it's close to your #2 in how it feels despite the obvious shoulder restraint, such as the sadly fallen (2012 to hurricane sandy) "Tower Of Fear" which was more forceful than most and also oddly taller than many others were at the time it was built. I rode one recently it might've been one at hershey but not sure, that measured up and I just said "I wish the one near me was like this." The larson ones are nuts, they put one of those close to me and I love it! I I really miss those intamin 1st generation types on the tracks cause they were awesome just maintainence nightmares (cause intamin). People mention the one at SFOG-honestly thought it was the only painful drop tower I've ever written and didn't make it scarier to be basically stand up, probably the worst next to too many parks buying the standard 80 feet S&S double shots that don't even go up to their max height (cause poor maintainence).

Here is my say about it, the drop side needs refurbed. The air compressors don't pressurize as much as compared to 15 years ago. Before it used to compress for around 15 seconds and now it compresses for only 3-5 seconds unless they put on faster compressors.

Hollywood, 1939. Amidst the glitz and the glitter of a bustling young movie talent at the height of its golden age, the Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right. A beacon for the show business elite. Now, something is about to happen that will change all that

This is why Disney is so good (or at least why it can be when it wants to be.) I feel like calling TOT a "drop tower" isn't giving it enough credit. It's a dark ride that utilizes a drop tower system during part of the ride. The building itself, the music, the queue, the video in the library, the boiler room, the first segment of the elevator and when the elevator leaves its shaft all build you up to such incredible tension. The drop(s) aren't just a thrilling sensation but they feel like the climax to a story you've been living for the previous 30 minutes. It really is such an incredible ride.

Dude I’m not a huge coaster guy and stuff and I’ve only been on one drop tower at Dollywood and it’s just this anticipation because your 250 feet in the air for 30 seconds and not to mention it’s spinning while your sitting there and then boom you drop. Such a weird, scary, but most importantly fun experience.

Some Intamin towers have different gondolas on the same tower: sit-down or standing, the latter with or without floor while some of those options tilt. I think having this choice is really cool!
One example is the "Golden Driller" at Fraispertuis City (France), which is my personal favorite :)

Just a note: detonator, a Larson super shot at Thorpe park does pause at the top, then counts down from 5. Usually, you then drop, but sometimes, you drop on 3 or something, or drop instantly without the countdown, or pause after the countdown, put my personal favourite is when there is an announcement: ‘attention. Detonator is currently experiencing a technical dela- And then you drop. I’ve experienced the last one, and its a real surprise even if you know it’s coming!

I have trouble with thrill rides. I really do. I get scared really easily and I can’t ride any roller coaster with inversions. The anxiety builds up too much and I hate it. That’s why I like Mission Breakout so much. I love that the drops correspond with the rhythm of the music. If you listen to the music, you know when you’re gonna drop and that makes it less scary. I love that. Guardians also happens to be my favorite Marvel franchise so I think the theming is really great as well.

Haven't been on many major drop towers, but my favourites are Detonator at Thorpe Park, Volcano at Fantasy Island and Hurakan Condor at PortAventura, if I ever go back to PortAventura then I would definitely ride it more since I only got one ride on it (I had a bad addiction to Shambhala when I visited), I would also want to ride on one of the stand up sides since I was on one of the sit down sides when I rode it.

I've only ridden two drop towers as they are not my thing - I prefer coasters. Detonator at Thorpe park; I did it one as a dare to myself, I hated it. I rode the Hollywood tower of terror and did it twice in one day. I loved it so much. I knew what to expect from seeing videos like a million times. I made sure to wait until I knew my stomach was empty. I could do it more times and still love it. It's such a fun ride. I'll do the others that are similar, but I won't ever do any of the drop towers you mentioned. You could pay me to, no thank you.
