I love the videos when little man comes in and interrupts you and you have to pause to go be dad, that just lets us know you are a dad first just like all of us
I've noticed something similar with just about all lures, there are a few exceptions. The thing I've noticed is probably 90% of the time it's better to either go big or small. For some reason, in most circumstances, I get more and better bites than I do with medium/normal sized stuff. Loving this advanced stuff that you're doing. This is the best quality content you've put out. These really show the wealth of knowledge you've acquired. Thanks for sharing man! Edit: I rough em up with a file, make a couple of other mods (like move the blade further up the wire, put a bead in front of the blade, crimp the rivet down and tweak the blade a little) and set them up in front of blower and leave it for a day or 2. Really makes a big difference on squeak but moving the blade up on the non headknocker style ones, helps get better hookups. On trailer hooks, the new Gamakatsu g-power that Aaron Martens designed is unreal. I cut and file the heads down on most of them just to be able to effectively slide a plastic over the head. Shedding weight and adding a plastic will slow a buzzbait way down.
This is the best video on buzzbaits I have ever seen. I have several buzzbaits but have seldom thrown them and there are several lakes within an hour drive that are perfect for these. Thank you Randy for sharing this info. God bless you bro
Speaking of back in the day, I started bass fishing with my dad when I was about 8 in 1959. We fished False River, LA which had what we called moss from shallow out to around 4-5 feet deep. We would see bass busting back in the moss; but had no lure to get back to them. Our spinner bait of choice back then was an H&H that had one Colorado blade and a double hook. We discovered if we threw our H&H and reeled real fast, it would stay on top. We soon started “buzzing” these baits across the moss and surprised that the bass would attack them….. Guess our secret finally came out!!!
Buzzbaits are a lot of fun to throw and the 1/8oz has been the best for me yet! It is great to see your son in your videos, I hope to see him fishing on the pro tour someday, he has the best Dad and teacher if he decides to become one! Thanks again for sharing this with us!! :)
Hi Randy, I used to tie a few buzz baits to the radio antenna on the truck on the way to a lake. They would spin so fast and so much on the way, that they would get worn out and squeak. I think I caught more bass because my baits squeaked as they buzzed across the water. Nice video again. thanks Randy, George.
I put some of my buzzbaits in front of fan I made from a blower motor from a furnace. Any fan will work but letting them wear too long in front of a fan will wear through the metal on the blade.
Thanks Randy I will be throwing the Jamaica Boa tomorrow morning at sunrise can't wait. Thanks for all the valuable information you have shared with me. I have learned so much from your videos I am always waiting for the next one.
That was the best buzz bait "seminar" I've ever seen! Thank you Randy! I live very near a fairly good size Corps of Engineers lake with lots of grass and dirty water, this info will help tremendously. I'm gonna have to join soon, starting to feel bad about getting free info and entertainment that I really enjoy.
Thanks for the information, you’re certainly teaching me a tremendous amount of years of knowledge gained on the water experiences.. So many great tips that I’ve never heard on buzzbait fishing.
Alot of great info but I disagree about the stiff rod. I've had tremendous success using a crankbait rod for my buzzbaits. As long as you have a sharp hook and and a fast gear ratio reel, you can use a very limber tipped rod-even fiberglass. It gives the bass just a split second to get the hook and get turned around.
Nice, I’m out here covering some of the stuff that’s happening. I found your channel when I went up to fish the Bass Pro tourney in Branson. You called exactly how it would be won 💯
I am a buzz bait freak I know some tricks with it that make a huge difference trust me I spent a lot of time with that thing in my hand. I wish I could share it but I can’t explain it in words.
I make my own buzzbaits cast from molds of my own design. I make them in 3 sizes 1,2 and 3 all on different frames and fish with plastics totally covering the head. In larger sizes there are several similar baits on the market. The #1 1/8oz is unique, I fish it with a 3” tube bait which makes skippable and I can cast it on a Medium bait casting rod. The other unique thing is if I have a short strike or follow I can stop it and they will hit it. I’ve even caught fish off beds letting it drop and lay on the bottom.
Another way to make a new Buzzbait squeak is to crimp the bottom rivet to the wire. It creates more of a rubbing rather than the rivet spinning with the blade
This video has really opened my eyes. Up until now, I hate buzzbaits, and stopped fishing with them. Ive had nothing but issues. I'll put a bait on one with no skirt, it never runs right. I spend like 20 casts trying to tune it and make it run right, then when it finally runs right, it seems i'll fish and fish and fish, and never do well. I do well with spooks, I do well with whopper ploppers, but I swear I have nothing but issues with buzzbaits. I'll have to keep in mind using the small one, skirted, flat banks shallow dirty water.
I found on the 1/8 ounce buzzer , pull the skirt off and put a zoom twin tail trailer pull the legs off and just use the hard body. It throws like a little George and screams across the water. You can fish it in any depth you’ll be glad you tried it. It’s also a great bait for schooling fish, I’ve been using this setup since the early 70’s.
I do my oun spinner/buzz baits!! Have you ever used a random blades or a 3 bladed buzz ? A 3 blade is slower, a tandem Raises total cane. A sharpening stone roughs it just right.
I just can't understand how anybody can give a thumb down or don't like any video that's teaching you anything that will make you knowledge grow 🤔 🤷 haters!! Keep up your good work!!! And thank you 😊 so much for sharing part of you knowledge with so much love
Great instructional video, The Buzz bait isn't really my confident to go Lure even though I have several. I will give them another try thanks to you to see what happens. Love the Cameo of your Son!! only shows how down to earth and Normal person you are!! God Bless.
Thank you for the content Randy. I have been slaying them on a Buzzbait this year is SoCal. Primarily using a cut down speed worm for a trailer and will go back to a skirt after hearing your tips. I like the customization with skirts as our fish are hitting shad and blue gill imitations. Great stuff!
This has the most interuptions than any other video 😭🤣😂. I appreciate your time and help and ideas.. My friend and I will be fishin the bbbash in two weeks and I'm stoked 🎣
Great video Randy. Alot good tips. Surprises me, how much detail to diffrent things that bass pros comevup with. Aaron Martens they say spent weeks justctinkering with baits, and blades, and color's, diffrent actions. Like taking blade off and fileing the contact points. Brillant ideal Randy!!!!

Thanks for the very informative video, Randy. I love buzzbait fishing. I'm not so sure about any perch (and I assume you mean yellow perch) spawning in early fall though.
I need to get a couple buzz baits. I'm always fishing poppers or burning roads, which have both worked well for me but always wanting try different things
The Jamaican Boa 1/2 has become my favorite. That sucker has been tied on since the water reached 50 degrees this year. Numbers of largies and smallies. Expensive but it will catch them.
Good stuff. I think the original lunker lure is still the best! They come out of the package with that squeak that you want, if you tune them out of your car window like you said , oh boy look out!
Great video me as a co-angler I fish the 1/4 caviton and the 1/8 mini buzz I love that 1/4 oz on because you can move it very slow and it squeaks right out of the pack I do make a few mods to it I also put the s bend it I don't use a toad I love to use a Biffle bug some times I do use a skirt but I don't use a trailer hook I think it comes down to what a person is confident in but I have found out if that buzz bait is not running true it will limit your bites that is why I don't use toads because most of the time they are too heavy and will make the buzz bait lean to the side
@@ricksonora6656 you can tune them.to run banks or go under docks like a tuned or out of tune crank bait. So you can keep.it in the zone longer during the cast and retrieve. Imo. And I learned this from Matt Allen tactical bassin...fyi.
It generates more strikes for me but the problem is what is the ideal setup to throw it on. It does not throw well for me on the traditional frog rod setup.
Randy are you familiar with little buffalo cove in the Ozarks? My family used to own a bunch of waterfront property on it when I was little. It's where my grandpa taught me to fish. I miss the Ozarks so much! I love the detail you put into this video. I am going to put this video to use asap!!

I targeted pads that I could cast past to hit the bank, and reel.it out through the cover. I used no trailer or trailer hook, and I threw it on my finesse power bait cast setup. 6ft8 medium action rod, black max 6.4 to1 gacia reel w 30 lb braid. Thx Randy! Great tips on retrieves, and where and when this works! I can't wait to get a few different sizes, and mix it up!

Don’t sleep on the plastic quad blades for a real slow retrieve, especially this time of year! Some of my favorite buzz fishing

Good stuff Randy .....
Concow lake, Paradise lake in Northern California perfect for a buzzbait right now
Lunker Lure as the first one I ever owned late 70’s early 80’s and the Arbogast Hawaiian Wiggler

Great video Randy....have you ever tried a swimbait on buzzbait?
which 1/8 ounce buzzbait are you typically going for Randy? or anyone else out there..i always find the wire is too stiff on the small ones
Booyah pip squeeze quarter ounce was my all time favorite. But like everything else that works for me it was discontinued.
The sputter fuss was the first inline buzz bait

Iv been crushing bass this summer on 3/8 oz head knocker.
What 1/8 buzzer do you recommend?
The buzzbait is my favorite lure
When I was a kid back in the 70's my father kept his lunker lures hanging outside on the clothes line. He did that so the would get rusty and corroded. He wanted the to squeak and chirp as loud has they could.
Pour & make my own, spinner & buzz baits. Bending wire bites but tis worth it.
Do you remember Floyd's in-line buzzer?
Have you ever used a floating buzz the kind with a body like a buzz plug ?????
I once had a spitter fuss they say it was the first buzz bait by Fred Arbogast!!!
From the looks of the scale the 3/8 Oz buzzbait is short much shorter than the next size larger half ounce it falls short cuz the hook needs to be further out or farther down the shaft
Lunker lures! I didn’t even know they still made them
Damn randy, you missed a bunch of critical info on buzzbait modification. Squeeky rivets, thin skirts, holes in the blades & lots more...
Asking where the boat is and not wanting to go to school... Sounds like somebody wanted to go fishing
A toad on a buzzbait can be skipped. I leave skirt on and add a plastic trailer.
Please talk floro cause so many anglers have spent hundreds upwards of a thousand $ to u turn to mono due to line break especially with big fish(yes floro gets more bites but the line break ratio goes up) like your videos keep em coming

I put skinny dipper on mine trim the skirt back
I've never caught one on a toad.
any body remember a herbs dilly i still have some
I don't think there's a time to use any bait the conditions the weather the wind water temperature determine what you need to be throwing
Why don’t they use double bladed buzzbaits they are more versatile
What about a clacker on the buzzbait
Get a high rider buzzbait. It'll change your life.
