- To some, the Police are doing a good job in fighting violent crime; others say Police are heavy-handed.
It comes after nine suspects were killed in a shootout with the Police at Mariannhill in KwaZulu-Natal in the early hours of Wednesday.
A few hours later, another five suspected robbers were gunned down by Police in a foiled cash-in-transit heist - this time in Mpumalanga.
Rifles and handguns were reportedly recovered in that operation.
Just how should Police react - and are they winning the war against crime?
To unpack this further we're joined by Professor Nirmala Gopal a Criminologist from UKZN.

Ya but according to people like the prof expect police to respond to a criminal shooting at them with rifle with diplomacy. That criminal has made up their mind that somebody may be seriously injured or killed by their actions ie shooting at the police so why should we negate the right of the police members to live n defend themselves?
