- This week marked three years since the death of Anele Tembe - whose body landed on the ground from the 10th floor of a Cape Town hotel in April 2021 - in the company of her fiancé, rapper Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes. But, it has been a painstaking wait for her family - wanting answers about what really happened to their daughter. The start of the inquest into her death has been dragging on since last year.
In June 2022, the National Prosecuting Authority decided not to prosecute anybody.
Instead, after Forbes's murder in 2023, a decision was taken to refer the matter to the Inquest Court.
Since the first sitting was due to start in October last year, the Tembe's have been left frustrated over the multiple delays.
In the first-ever, EXCLUSIVE Interview, Anele's father Moses Tembe sits down with SABC News reporter Chriselda Lewis.

What happened to Tibz is truly heartbreaking. Also his mother shortly passed on hence the passing of her son was too much to bear. And now all is left to the father because Tibz was an only child. May Tibz and his mother rest in peace and I'm sending love and warm graces to Ntate Motsoane.

One thing I hold against AKA about that incident was that he was selfish and self preserving. Why, because he married a very young girl/woman (comes with a lot of responsibility) and when she was having a "mental" breakdown or whatever it was she was going through, he was busy collecting evidence video recording the entire house and speaking his "side of story", while his YOUNG WIFE is being consoled by his friends.
Like dude, wake up, you are now a married man, you are the husband, the PROTECTOR.
Worse still, he said she threatened to commit suicide that day and hour and his response: "I removed myself from that situation" , like hey munna! Which world do you live in? You wife threatens to kill herself and your response is to leave the room and not comfort her by all means??
He had the power to save her life by being playing his role, a responsible husband, whether she was going crazy or not, the moment you say I do, you accept that responsibility. He failed her and her father who entrusted her with him. I would feel sour too if she was my daughter.

So true, I watched that whole interview done by Thembekile Mrototo. All I could see on AKA's face was guilt, and he couldn't even answer some questions confidently. Why was he not even arrested immediately? A normal citizen could have been arrested.

AKA took his time , cleaned up the apartment before going downstairs. They were both toxic but he honestly knows what happened doesn’t mean him dying was right but he knows he knows.

Wasn’t it reported that he didn’t go downstairs for 20 minutes or so? I’m sure I heard that somewhere. However long it was, he didn’t rush downstairs immediately, is the sense I got and that in of itself has caused suspicion, I believe. In AKA’s own interview, if you read between the lines, it appears that they were both involved in recreational substances. If that is true, it would be a recipe for disaster for anyone experiencing ongoing depression and/or other mental health challenges. Some (toxic) relationships bring out the worst in the individuals, while other (healthy) relationships bring out the best. So sad.

It's still painful even today to listen to the story of Anele and AKA. It's sad to be a parent in this case. 1st it was the Tembe family who wanted answers and closure, now it is AKA's family and his friend's family who want answers and closure.
I don't think pointing fingers will make anyone feel any better in this case. All I can say is. Nothing can be changed. Both families lost. Including AKA's friend family. What a sad love story.

No one knows what happened but if you love someone why spend time cleaning up the room and deleting the phone while your fiancé supposedly just jumped off the building. Why would anyone ask his friends to go up and down checking if their loved one was alive or not instead of them. Anyone who has had depression, severe or not knows that no one would jump naked, unless they plan to do it in a bath tub. When someone feel suicidal they take a long time to consider and reconsider, plan to and unplan and plan again, it NOT a spare of a moment thing, I’ve never had of any spare of a moment suicide. True , similar to Meyiwa family who never got an answer from Kelly about what happened to Senzo that night. Aka had an interview publicly about what happened that night but never went to Mr Tembe to face him and let him know detail by detail. First person to be called and who arrived immediately was Aka’s father at the scene and not Anele’s father first ... like so many loopholes and no one wants to question anything simply because it was Aka. This inquest must just happen.
Meyiwa’s are 10 years in still waiting for an answer. Anele died in the presence of her fiancé , and he said he locked himself in the bathroom to calm down and then called reception, yet did not hear Anele fall. in the same hotel they shared, 🤔yet he was never considered suspect number 1.

You're right, suicide is not something that just happens out of nowhere, but Anele has been trying to commit suicide for a long time since her own mom passed on so it wasn't spur of the moment. She had been thinking about it for years already. The relationship she had with AKA was toxic & drug fueled which led to the huge fight that ensued between them. That combo made everything worse. They should not have dated in the first place coz now everyone is confused & two families have lost their beloved children.

Perhaps AKA didn't push her but I hope we can all learn something from this about how our actions and how lack of responsibility in relationships can have tragic consequences. Some people know that they are toxic and cannot change but still insist on being in a relationship with another, and other people find themselves unable to leave relationships where they feel emotionally or mentally tortured. I think he played a part in AKA's murder because it had to be someone very powerful and influential, that had the resources to kill someone so powerful and influential like AKA. The naked part I can't fathom... It's so scary and heartbreaking at the same time... If she did do it herself she must have been not in touch with reality anymore... Anele was found with scratches on her body, showing that she was in a fight before jumping off. Her fam hired a private investigator, they approached the police with evidence, which was labeled as "not enough" for arresting AKA.
And so they decided to take the matter into their own hands

I cannot imagine the pain the Tembe family went through and are still going through by losing their daughter in this manner. So many questions going through their mind as to what happened on the day in question. Who was with her before the incident? If she really was suicidal why was she left alone in a Hotel? It doesn't make sense to me. You can't say a person has tried to kill herself but you then leave her alone, like really? It has been said that she was laying there for like 20 minutes after the alleged incident, and she was still alive. So, the question then is where was AKA during this time? If she really was suicidal as AKA claimed. We will never know the truth because they are now both gone. I don't believe that she was suicidal and if she was AKA would never have left her alone for such a long time. I don't know what happened on the day in question but the scenario of suicidal and killing herself doesn't make sense. I don't think it's fair to Mr.Tembe to say his daughter committed suicide and he knows it. I mean what proof do you have to boldly say that. I wonder if Anele was your daughter would you say the same. I must also say that i feel sorry for the Forbes family as well for losing their son especially in the manner they did, but at least we know he was short and killing that we know.
