    Valve Refurbished Steam Decks
GameStop is selling refurbished Steam Decks so to counter that, Valve is too!
They say: “Introducing Valve Certified Refurbished Steam Decks! These are fully tested at Valve facilities and come with the same 1-year warranty as a new Deck. Supplies are limited and expect these to come in and out of stock as available. “
“Every device goes through a complete factory reset, software update, and an extensive examination involving over 100 tests at one of Valve's facilities. Among the tests are all controller inputs, the audio system, the screen, and internals. Battery health is also assessed to ensure proper functionality and longevity.”
    $319 for 64GB, $419 for 256GB and $519 for 512 GB
    vs $399, $529, $649
They’re still in stock when I’m making this video
I’m guessing that they’re leftovers from RMAs because before Valve partnered with United Radio who’s terrible by the way, they would just replace a lot of broken Steam Decks with a brand new one instead of repairing them but now they have a way to fix those broken ones up and sell them.
Man, the best thing to do here is to buy the 64GB version and then pick up a 1 or 2TB SSD because at that point you’ll only be paying around $20 over the MSRP of a brand new one for more storage than you can even buy directly from Valve.
This is a cool and smart way to get more people into the Steam Deck ecosystem and I have a feeling these will sell out pretty quickly.
    AyaNeo Air 1S Thoughts
I took a look at the Ayaneo Air last year and while i loved the form factor, the performance wasn’t good enough to pull me away from the Steam Deck
This time I have the AyaNeo Air 1S and it’s a huge improvement performance wise while keeping this amazing Switch Lite style chassis
Ergonomically it feels really good and the brushed black plastic makes it feel more premium than something like the ROG Ally.
The buttons and d-pad are a little mushy but I love the tension on the triggers and the joystricks have a nice amount of travel for the compact size of the console.
It’s a little heavy for its size which makes sense considering all the power packed into it but from a hardware standpoint I don’t think I could be more impressed.
The chip inside is a 7840U which is very powerful to the point where you can run games like Baldur’s Gate 3 at around medium settings with FSR set to quality and hold a very strong 30fps and it looks great on the 5.5 inch AMOLED screen
The bottleneck is heat so I opted to run the game at 720p but at this size it still looks really, really good.
This thing is also an indie machine and it can run anything you throw at it from Dead Cells to Deaths Door to Hades and The Messenger so really if you’re someone who loves the size of the Switch Lite but wants to run indies at 1080p60 on an AMOLED screen this handheld is basically perfect for you.
Also those games tend to be smaller in size so you shouldn’t have too much trouble with the included SSD only having 500GB of space but it does have a microSD card slot for expandable storage.
It also has their own sort of quick access menu which they call AyaSpace and I was really happy to see that the language on a lot of it was cleaned up to make more sense in English but from a pure performance standpoint it more than gets the job done.

The refurbished steamdeck seems perfect for people who are looking to modify it. With the saved money, you can buy a custom front and back plate, so it doesn't matter if someone used the original shell.

Steam is the ones refurbing the decks though, not Gamestop. Completely different situation. Also, Valve also gives you same warranty as buying new.

If I did not already have a Steam Deck, I would be very tempted to take advantage of this very good deal - and yes, I would still get the 64gb version and upgrade to 1tb (which I did on mine).

With a Steam Deck, you will be able to get things fixed and repaired/upgraded (to a certain extent) later on. I think this is a point a lot of people miss when compared to alternatives.

I am glad you brought up repairs, I was thinking something was wrong. I was getting stick drift, so I sent it in for warranty repair, they said their was water damage. And the unit was unrepairable. So I got it back opened it up saw the joystick did have damage, I ordered the new style joystick, put them in and cleaned the ribbon cable, and it works just fine, so I did a basic repair to a deck that was totally UNREPAIRABLE.

I just use other single disc versions of multi disc games whenever I can. Like for RE2, use the Game Cube version. For RE1 remake or RE0, use the Wii versions (they support Game Cube controllers). For RE4 use either PS2 or Wii (again it supports GC controllers).

I have gotten my 256 gb certified refurbished deck and it looks basically new: the charger had some scuffs: the packaging is cheaper (the charger box is not white and the “your games are going places” text is black not holographic)(psa:the 64gb is NEVER in stock)
Update: if you care to know the “community bundle stuff isn’t included (i don’t care about that but you might)
Edit:so my SD had huge problem and steam support was great they never asked if it was refurbished

800 bucks is still about 300 bucks too steep. Does it run better then the ps5 or x box x? If so then maybe 800 bucks could be justified but if the ps5 is 450-500 bucks and runs way better why would the price have to be 800 bucks for a simple handheld that don't run as well?

    • @Mad-Lad-Chad
      @Mad-Lad-Chad 10 месяцев назад

Same reason a flagship pho e that’s weaker than a ps5 costs more. The smaller electronics get generally the more expensive they get. You can’t play a ps5 on the bus, some people value portability over raw power.

Ayaneo Air does seem like a hard brainer purchase, especially if its battery is only lasting as long as the Ally or Steam Deck for more than the Deck and around the price of the Ally. I get it, its hard to run AAA games, but telling me to pay $800 USD for a device which shines at play indie games, is not a good value proposition for me. A person could spend almost $500 less on a 64 GB steam deck, used, and likely have enough storage to play all the indies they want if they are looking for an indie machine. Plus Ayaneo comes out with a new handheld seemingly every week, thus $800 is a lot to ask for something that is going to be old hat to the company by the end of the month lmao.
