Window film works as a barrier to heat transfer. In winter, when it is colder outside than inside, interior heat is lost through the windows because the cold air on the exterior side of the glass is pulling the warm air inside out through the glass. The capacity of a window system to insulate is referred to as U-Value. Lower U-Value means a better insulation properties of the window system. Window systems with window film have lower U-Values and work better to insulate in winter.
With any transparent window films, even the most reflective, you are always able to see through to the brighter side of the glass. When it is dark outside and your lights or your tv is on, people outside will be able to see in. During daylight hours, even on gloomy days, with a reflective or dual reflective film with high exterior reflectance, it may be possible but, unlikely and difficult, to see inside.
@@ThepearlcaptureThe only thing offered to where no one can see into the home day or night is the frost or blackout type of film, but with those films, no one will be able to see into the home day or night, but YOU will also not be able to see out of the window. But the frost version will still block some heat while still allowing some soft, natural light into the room.
@@lew708 Ye, I looked at the frost version and found it to be suffocating visually to me. I'm buying one way tint, on Amazon, for my 1st floor patio door...where bedroom is. I want to be able to open the blinds to brighten the room up, without people seeing in, but I want to be able to see out to see what's going on.
What happens in the winter. Does that mean the inside of the house will be cooler because the film will be blocking the suns heat?

Can you see in when the tv is on or when it is gloomy outside?
