I can't believe you are down on views, surely everybody's Sunday morning starts with the "LR Time" video. Great series guys look forward to the finale.
Agree, Sunday mornings always start with coffee and LR Time 😊 fantastic content, really enjoying the rebuild series and the technical videos, great work Christian and Vera 🙏
Exactly. I’m not even a LR person and have been enjoying this series. I’d have thought this would have been really popular with the LR folk. Serious effort and expense gone into this project.
Indeed, very nice series of videos how to full restore a Disco3. The down of views I can think that people prefer to see how to solve a problem they might have. Not necessarily how to disassemble/reassemble a LR (this is more to the niche of enthusiastic). I suppose more people would google „how to change my EGR“ than „how to undercoat a LR body“
Vera wears Rubber Boots, which in England are called Wellington Boots, or as kids we called them Wellibobs or just Wellies. Great job on that underside.
To be perfectly honest with you, I would watch your channel whatever you did. A Toyota, an Ineos, a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport would be fantastic. You are both great and put so much work into your channel you deserve at least 1M subs. 👍🇦🇺
Love to see you do a V8 Range Rover project. Shame your viewer numbers are down. I look forward to my Sunday morning episodes with you both. Love the content and humour.
I am honestly in awe at the level of work and dedication you both have. I recently bought a Discovery 3 and absolutely love it! And your sense of humour goes down very well here in Scotland. Thank you for all your hard work
Sarah would be proud! 👌 When you weren't 2 minutes in to the video and Vera already gave us an "oh, shit!", I knew this would be a good episode. 👍 I am loving the restoration series. It's understandable that there is burnout, not for the viewers, but especially for Christian and Vera. This is a monumental task, and I commend you both for having the cojones to take this on. This is the kind of project many may dream about but few will tackle. That D3 will be mint for a very long time. Heirloom quality, you might say. 😉 A Range Rover would make for an interesting series. The V8 options would be a nice change, although I guess in Germany that may not be so practical. The new Toyotas are cool, but I'm not sure what you would show other than typical bolt-on stuff. I'm sure you would enjoy it and all the coffee, too. 😂 Top job, guys!! Keep it up! 🥰
May I make a suggestion. Try raptor liner on the areas most likely to get rock chipped. Will save the paint work and keep the road noise down aswell. ❤❤ amazing work u guys
I did this rustproofing job on my new Ranger a couple of months ago, just like I did with my other Ranger when new in 2014. However I use a heavy duty wax in aerosol form from a company called Bilt Hamber. Did the whole chassis, inside and out plus the external sills and every hole I could find. Also put grommets to blank all holes in the chassis facing the tyres to stop the chassis being filled with corrosive wetness. Oblong holes were taped with Gorilla Tape before the wax was applied and this has proven to be effective and long lasting on my 1998 L Cruiser and 2014 Ranger.
I don’t know , almost certain , perhaps other viewers can comment, that Vera’s Landy , is the only one that has undergone , such major “ surgery “ . Such a DIY , such perfection , such detail , by two ordinary people . I say surgery , because the work done is beyond ordinary mechanical repairs , although it is mechanical repairs .
I recently did the same to mine D3 both chassis and body and there are others too. It's really great to know that owners are taking such good care of these great vehicles 😎👍
I love how Christian changed his ethnicity when grinding. Another brilliant video and step closer to completion. The TUV guy is going to be happier. Aluminium foil is excellent at covering wiring and hydraulic cylinders doing welding or restoration work
Amazing dedication and precision. Well done you two. Wrt getting a LC200 instead, I own a LC150 and don't miss a second of your videos. Would love to own a D4 or D5, but just cannot justify the potential psychological and financial abuse. 😉
This is by far the best RUclips channel of them all, please please stay with Land Rover, Toyotas are for people who don't want to get their hands dirty and don't have any personality (that applies to both the vehicles and their owners).
Shocked views are down?! The detailed videos here are excellent! Love seeing so much care going into an LR3. I do hate seeing Vera all the time though. Her outfits always make me feel so lazy sitting here and watching a video 😂
Absolutely fantastic. Another great start to Sunday. I'm thrilled you see the end in sight now. For a guy like me who has worked on the ground outside for too many years, you've got a lift! Why didn't l think of that. My lady would kill me, as a lift would cut out our perfect view across the fields. Ah well. Power to you 🎉
Great job guys it looks amazing. Christian as you haven't mentioned it, one thing I would advise you to check is to take the worst side of the rust and take off that side front door car diff and check for corrosion on the steel frame of the door at the bottom and latch side and use the Mercedes cavity spray inside the door. I think there will be plastic plugs like on the body you can use if you decide to spray inside all of the doors if in doubt about any corrosion. The Disco is looking great!
A great job, looks better than new. I’ve owned a couple of Range Rover L322 TDV8’s, not without their problems but equally an amazing car to own, you should definitely get one. Even better, get an early 4.4V8 with the BMW m62 engine and a vanos issue, then you can do videos to show me how to fix mine :)
Well done Christian and Vera. Your car looks fantastic. You both must be very proud of your work. TUV inspectors will not find anything wrong this year. Thank you for sharing another great video.
Better than OEM. Christian & Vera do everything 100%.. That TUV guy, or girl, is NOT going to believe their eyes even after pinching themselves twice !
Guys, absolutely love your channel....don`t be too hard on your queen the L405 is a good car....apart from poor lubrication of the turbo bearings.....DO NOT think about buying an Ineos Grenadier.....will be signing up as a patron...keep doing what your doing!
Another great video I don’t know what’s better your discover restoration or your interaction together So enjoy your relationship together ❤ Keep up the great work from Australia Ainsley
One of the next videos I'm planning is going to be "Why you Shouldn't Buy a Range Rover". With that said, I still think Christian should buy one because I know you can handle the maintenance. I'm interested in knowing more about the composition of your underbody paints. Are they epoxy or oil-based or urethane? Or something else?
Hello Waldo, epoxy based paint is not as easy to get over here. So this is regular fast curing thinner based paint. I use a local brand which is really thick and easy to use. It does not say what it is made of but it cures very well and is impact resistant. The rost converter is FERTAN. That stuff is great and it is easy to remove with water prior paining. Christian
Don't go to the Toyota "Dark side", as an owner of a 16 year old Discovery, you guys are my inspiration and a knowledge bank that I always refer to. Not to mention the humour you both add.😊😊😊
ITS LR TIME😊😊😊 what a fantastic episode.great dedication to detail."if your doing something,do it wright" thats christians attitude.this disco will live on forever.not long now till that engine fires up.great video.till next week guys, have a good week😊😊😊
Wire bristle brushes tend to polish the surface (as well as removing rust), I prefer 3M Scorchbrite clean and strip discs for a grinder and Scorchbrite bristle brushes for a drill. Cheap Chinese copies are available from eBay Amazon etc. Fertan (as you used) or Jenolite for conversion of any pitted remaining rust. Overcoat with Jotun Jotamastic 87W (winter grade, useable to -5c) 2 component epoxy. As used on my Volvo rebuilds.
Great video! Two things for me to get out of the way quickly, primer: zinc based (Galvafroid) and cavity injection would be Waxoyl. The Mercedes solution is probably the same as Waxoyl. Great job and better than new! omg!
Another great vid, you’re so fortunate to not have had side steps on your Disco. Mine had steps and the three bracket each side acted as moisture traps and rotted through the metal body, its already a problem area as you say. after new lower sills replaced, painted and new trims installed it now looks great. Side steps are Disco lower body killers. ☠️.
I'm in awe of what you achieve at home.... so in awe I'll have another cup of tea and a biscuit and watch you rather than do it myself. And it's "Wellington Boots", "rubber boots" is a term with alternative connotations.
after watching your videos and advice; I think I'm not ready to buy a land rover discovery 3... you are doing a great job on this LR3... better than new...
Excellent work, grinding is such a pain and your lift makes it easy compared to doing it 12" from your face! the paint looks awesome, be proud of yourself and celebrate with your favourite drink! For the rust converter a phosphorous acid base or something else? For wrapping of gifts in garbage bags, I have been forbidden from doing that by my wife. So I get my girls to wrap them. I have rust coming through on my Range Rover sills, not looking forward to that job. sorry to hear the numbers of views dropping, watching you guys give me a lot of little tips and tricks and just relaxing entertainment and encouragement.
One concern that caught me, you removed all the Body plugs. What happens to the water (that must have gone in) when you washed the underside? Loving this series by the way. Factual entertainment at its Best!
What an entertaining video. You say you just compile whatever you learned on YT. But you know - that is crystalized intelligence. You gained intuitive knowledge that allows you to find solutions in known areas. You just look at the maze and the solution lightens up like a neon line. It is actually incredible how deep your knowledge of LRDs became. You remind me of Ed China. He used to say: _That's gonna be a ton of work, so I better get started._ What an attitude. Watching you I read in between the lines: _Don't know what to do? Just roll up your sleeves and try. You will find the solutions._ I strongly dislike Nike. Despite that I must admit that their slogan is one of the best. Your vids are a treat.
Not wanting to be an armchair mechanic here but I can recommend using a 2k epoxy primer like jotun 90 this is designed for offshore steel protection and brushes or sprays on well. As it's not Uv stable it's good to overcoat it with something like raptor 2k. This would give the best protection in my opinion as the red oxide is not great any more (since there is no lead in there anymore it's just a red primer). But fantastic work. It is really great to see the skill, accuracy and passion you both have.
There is always a better product. But I have to think about the budget and how long it should last... Maybe 10 more years before Germany banns Diesels completely. Christian
What you have done with that car is absolutely amazing. An awesome job. It is probably going to be the most prestine LR in the world. I wish I was your neighbour. My 96 Toyota has been watching what you have been up to with envious eyes 😂
I remember comments about Harley Davidson owners loving their bikes because they spend so much time working on them they become part of the family and can never let go of them. Now I'm looking at two intrepid Land Rover owners doing the same. Toyota??? I will bet that never happens. So happy to watch you two (and Robin) passionate about the restoration you're doing. I am wondering also if you are getting offers to sell your vehicle.
Having done this same full job on my own D3 I know exactly what you have been through but it is completely satisfying and I really enjoyed doing it and knowing that if will be protected for years to come. I also gave my chassis and underbody a good few coats of additional but sacrificial protection with Lanoguard which i will re apply before each winter👍 Really looking forward to seeing the next step when it all goes back together 😁great job
It may seem counter intuitive, but dirt and dust is a friend of liquid rust protectant (3M, Rust Check, Krown, etc). The dirt and dust offers millions of tiny facets for surface area and adhesion. Over time with annual applications, it becomes a stubborn, oily coating that would keep Sarah-n-Tuned awake at night.
Good evening Vera & Christian 😊 What a absolutely fantastic job protecting the underside of Vera’s LR you’ve done Christian 🤩 Vera I loved your yellow wellies 🤣 I’d always watch anything your turn your hand to Christian 👍🏻 Big kiss and hug 🤗 for Vera xx
What an amazing job! I do know about that because I did the underbody de-rusting and the whole works too in January by a friend , the only problem was the car was stuck on the lift because he had an old lift but six hours later we managed to get the Disco back down and off by the way the M.O.T here in Wiesbaden was really impressed with the rest process. Thanks a lot for a great video you two 👍🏻👍🏻
Got to say that work made the underside better than the factory made it look. Just amazing attention to detail as always. And the superb humour .. 😂😂 And yes a Range Rover would be a brilliant addition. But read up on the ECUs ....
When a UK intelligence officer rolled his Rover over. The radio message went " the rover's over, over". I liked this series and like the look of the new Land Cruiser.
I've done a couple of Defender chassis with a paint called Jotun Jotamastic 90gf, made for boat hulls it's a 2 pack epoxy that's made to stick where perfect preperation may not be possible, I do the same as you've done, wire brushes, rust converter, Jotun paint and then I use a spray wax both inside the chassis and outside, takes a good while to do a complete chassis but the results are good, I'm not a fan of Lanoguard. 👍
Lanoguard is great if you apply it to a clean none rusty surface and Christian is correct you should remove rust then treat it with a converter and then prime and paint. Then you can use Lanoguard to seal out moisture and also good to spray in the box sections and inner sills. I have Lanoguarded both of my cars but they are only 3 and 4 years old with no rust.
Another great Sunday video .... TUV may use this to set some new rules 😁 I'm conscious of the time and weather constraints approaching fast now.. viewing numbers may climb as the warm weather ends and we are all stuck indoors 🥸
What a fantastic job! Highlight of my Sundays watching someone else work. Think those holes in the body are called grommet holes maybe? One of the rustiest cars I ever owned was a Mercedes estate. It was rust free when I bought it secondhand. After 6 months it rusted everywhere from the inside out! Ran well though.
I've tried using a brush on rust converter. It looked ok, and went black as yours did, however, I then sanded it off and the metal under it was still rusty. So now I brush on 85% Phosphoric Acid, it's dirt cheap and easy to get in auto part stores here.
I can't believe you are down on views, surely everybody's Sunday morning starts with the "LR Time" video. Great series guys look forward to the finale.

Thanks for the Aluminium foil tip for masking cables and pipes. That one was new on me. 👍
Your discovery 3 rebuild videos are helping me through the late night feedings with our newborn baby. Great job both of you 👍
Love to see you do a V8 Range Rover project. Shame your viewer numbers are down. I look forward to my Sunday morning episodes with you both. Love the content and humour.
Out of all your videos this has to be the most labour intensive.Well done you two looks amazing.
This one coverd the work of three weeks. Usually we cover one week. Christian
Well it’s 09:37 in the uk and I’m still in bed watching your latest work
Excellent as always
Thank goodness we have you guys on team LR.
I am honestly in awe at the level of work and dedication you both have. I recently bought a Discovery 3 and absolutely love it! And your sense of humour goes down very well here in Scotland. Thank you for all your hard work
Both bodies are in exceptional condition Good maintenance pays dividends 😂😂😂
I often tell of the benefits of preventative maintenance, pays dividends in the long run.
Sarah would be proud! 👌
When you weren't 2 minutes in to the video and Vera already gave us an "oh, shit!", I knew this would be a good episode. 👍 I am loving the restoration series. Do not stop making video`s about the LR3 , your content is brilliant . Your passion for land rovers is amazing ,

Shame the viewer numbers are down. I have found this series on the restoration of Vera’s D3 fascinating. Brilliant job both of you.
😯Ausgezeichnet ! ( Excellent ! ) 🤩
Danke fürs Teilen ! ( Thanks for sharing ! ) Epische Daumen Hoch ! ( Epic Thumbs Up ! )
😇❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
WoW fantastic job, your preparation and attention to detail is second to none.
The unwrapping is always the most enjoyable part of any project 😊
Amazing dedication and precision.
Well done you two.
Wrt getting a LC200 instead, I own a LC150 and don't miss a second of your videos. Would love to own a D4 or D5, but just cannot justify the potential psychological and financial abuse. 😉
You would get bored with a Toyota....love the content you both bring
You two do an amazing job on your cars, I wish i was able to do half the stuff you do. Keep up the amazing work.
As the owner of a V8 Range Rover I would love to see you tackle one as a project! Especially with how great a job you are doing on the Disco 3!
This is by far the best RUclips channel of them all, please please stay with Land Rover, Toyotas are for people who don't want to get their hands dirty and don't have any personality (that applies to both the vehicles and their owners).

I do hate seeing Vera all the time though. Her outfits always make me feel so lazy sitting here and watching a video 😂
😅👍🙋♀️
Can’t wait to see the body going back onto the chassis 👍
Must be the most overtaken care car in the world. Amazing restoration.
Wow, absolutely insanely perfect job. Better than factory original finish, LR3 body will last forever...
Btw totally love the D3 & D4 content. Please do not stop!
Absolutely fantastic. Another great start to Sunday. I'm thrilled you see the end in sight now. For a guy like me who has worked on the ground outside for too many years, you've got a lift! Christian & Vera do everything 100%..
That TUV guy, or girl, is NOT going to believe their eyes even after pinching themselves twice !
Great vid. Very thorough underbody preservation. Thanks for sharing
I found your channel because of Land Rover, but stayed because of you two. Even if you guys change vehicles, I’ll keep watching!
Guys, absolutely love your channel....don`t be too hard on your queen the L405 is a good car....apart from poor lubrication of the turbo bearings.....DO NOT think about buying an Ineos Grenadier.....will be signing up as a patron...keep doing what your doing!
Thank you both for making Sunday mornings entertaining and interesting.
Another great video
I don’t know what’s better your discover restoration or your interaction together
So enjoy your relationship together ❤
Keep up the great work from Australia

I'm interested in knowing more about the composition of your underbody paints. Are they epoxy or oil-based or urethane? Or something else?
Neat to see you posting here!
Christian
Excellent Job, and would expect nothing less from you guys. Sunday morning complete, now back to my work.
The name “Toyota Times” doesn’t have a good ring to it. I did hear you say Range Rover which excites me though.
Don't go to the Toyota "Dark side", as an owner of a 16 year old Discovery, you guys are my inspiration and a knowledge bank that I always refer to. Not to mention the humour you both add.😊😊😊
Wow LR3 looks fantastic great job Christian your one clever man .

Great video! Two things for me to get out of the way quickly, primer: zinc based (Galvafroid) and cavity injection would be Waxoyl. The Mercedes solution is probably the same as Waxoyl. Great job and better than new! omg!
Fantastic work you guys. If only I was 1/4 as motivated. 😂
Grinding rust is the WORST!
I will need to protect my undercarriage soon too. I don't have a lift so it's going to be challenge.
Great job.
😅👍yes that will be fun, especially now in the cold. But at least you can raise the car into offroad height. 🙋♀️Vera
Another great vid, you’re so fortunate to not have had side steps on your Disco. Amazing job ❤
I'm in awe of what you achieve at home.... so in awe I'll have another cup of tea and a biscuit and watch you rather than do it myself. And it's "Wellington Boots", "rubber boots" is a term with alternative connotations.
For us, it is "Gummistiefel". 😅👍🙋♀️
after watching your videos and advice; I think I'm not ready to buy a land rover discovery 3... you are doing a great job on this LR3... better than new...

HI Vera & Chrystian, beautiful and carefully executed work, which, as usual, is a pleasure to look at. I convey my warm greetings.

Well done,,,that's an enormous amount of work completed.
A truly uplifting couple of individuals. It’s a treat to watch you both. Keep up the good work. Fortschritt durch harte arbeit.
Got to say that work made the underside better than the factory made it look. Just amazing attention to detail as always. And the superb humour .. 😂😂
And yes a Range Rover would be a brilliant addition. But read up on the ECUs ....
You guys ate the best ! Looks amazing under there now !
Truly exceptional job.
Amazing result on the underside of the body. :) Great job!!
This takes your skills to a new level. You are amazing!
Love the Dry Humour! :)
Great video, you guys make me laugh at lot… I don’t know how you keep your sense of humour with so much hard work, but brilliant 🥰🥰
brilliant job love your content.......when can I drop my disco 3 off for some German TLC 😉 keep up the good work
I might give this Fertan a try when i've used up my Bilt Hamber rust convertor
When a UK intelligence officer rolled his Rover over. The radio message went " the rover's over, over".
I liked this series and like the look of the new Land Cruiser.
This could also be the title of Christian and Vera's first exercise video.
Great video again. Enjoyed watching. Great work. 👍🏼👍🏼
Phenomenal work. Wow!! Such an inspiration restoration!!
The series is wonderful Vera and Christian
I'm convinced that if more people owned or had ready access to 2 or 4 post vehicle lifting equipment, the world would be a better place.
Amazing job guys just think if land rover done this sort of stuff before they sold them the lr 4 would live forever
Love the idea of you getting a Range Rover. Make sure it's an L322
now he can come over to the UK and do ours he has done a fantastic job now look after it thanks for the video
