Mizuno MP20 HMB Irons Review : the QUICK + FORGIVING Hot Metal Blade

  • We test the hollow cavity of the Mizuno MP20 HMB (Hot Metal Blade) that is delivering some quick ball speed results. There a lot going on under the neat, narrow exterior of this new head from Mizuno. We lift the lid on the right shaft and setup for those mid to high handicappers who want the performance and forgiveness of a cavity but with the looks of a player blade.

    Thank you much for the reply. So refreshing as a lot of RUclips channels don’t, even some of the best. Your attention to detail is excellent, in particular covering who the club might fit. Too many reviewers hitting 7 irons 210 and saying how good they are. No names mentioned. Thanks.

    It was nice of you to include the shaft recommendations. Great video.

      Thanks for that. Trying to give better info so golfers can make better choices. 👍🏻

    Got custom fit for these yesterday. Tried Ping G410, TM P790, Apex, various shafts. Close run between these and G410 but on looks and sole width (play links golf) had to choose HMB. Also spin rate was far better for me. Going from HM pro, (had mine stolen) I hope there's a difference. Great site guys, keep up the good work.

    Have you guys ever heard of a company called TXG from Canada. all about the numbers. not just talking. run a show like TXG but golfers need average player 80,90,100 mph swing players I love the way you guy explain things keep up the good work

      Of course we know Ian and TXG. Our info is a little different but we love what they do. It’s all about giving the golfer more relevant info. 👍🏻

    Great video. Love the fitting advice. How do you see the HMB vs 919 Hot Metal / Hot Metal Pro in terms of forgiveness? A comparison video between them would be great and not something I have seen done yet.

    Great video. I think the clubs are beautiful - I just tried a set and I'm on the fence about buying. Obviously, used clubs at this date, but in excellent condition. Currently playing Titleist AP-3 and they're great.... but these are so nice looking in comparison. But what should I choose for an approach wedge and sand, as they are not available in this line?

      Glad you like the video. Go for the mizuno wedges and go for 1 degree stronger to help cover the gap better.

    Interesting that you think that it's not a club to blend with MBs. Found it produces better fitting results than MMC. Bending loft is also far wiser advice than misinforming an audience that shafts are either high or low launch. All in all a good video and I liked your end-to-end format on the club and shafts.

      Thanks Bradley, just the info we’re finding from customers fitting sessions. We do indeed have shafts that can affect launch angles. Glad you like the video. 👍🏻

    Great work guys. Playing Ping for over 36 years. Playing off 13 with I200 since Oct 2017. Mizuno switch a ‘big ask’ ? Any other club suggestions? Ronan K

      Mizuno worth a look for sure and also P-790 from TaylorMade but all depends on what little bit of extra you’re looking for. Sometimes a change is only good if it ticks those extra buttons..👊🏼

    Hi, just subscribed to your channel cause I really enjoy your reviews. I have a question for you: l recently bought a combo set MP 20 (4-7) HMB (8-PW) and during the fitting I tested the suggested shafts by the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer (Project X LZ; TT AMT and Modus 105, all in Reg). However, I ended up choosing the TT DG 105. I used to game the old faithful DG 300 s but the years pass by and.....The new and much lighter DG 105 just felt right for me. However, this is a shaft that very little is said about it (just the opposite as with the likes of NS Modus and KBS). Can you please give me your opinion/impressions on this shaft TT DG 105?.
    Cheers from Spain!

      Thanks for subscribing to the channel and glad you liked the reviews. The TT DG 105 is a great product as are most shafts. Shaft selection really depends on the application and the golfer. Enjoy the new clubs. 🇮🇪👍🏻

    Nice video, are they coming in as a direct alternative to the tm790, cost wise something similar ? The graphite option for a slower swing player would be interesting

      Thanks, cost wise just a little less but different design and technology application. Graphite for slower swings perfect sense. 👍🏻

    Noticed the lofts are quite strong on the HMB and mmc, found any issues? Particularly large gap between P and 9 iron vs more traditional 47 43 lofts

    • @foregolfcustom
      @foregolfcustom  4 года назад +1

      Good spot. We build our own sets onsite so don’t follow the standard Mizuno spec. We would normally customize the loft settings throughout the set to suit the specific needs and flight/spin parameters of each individual golfer. We test each client on range ball flight with TrackMan4 so we can get deep into the required loft setup. You can request Mizuno to change the lofts if you so wish on a custom set but remember this iron launches very high and gets in the air quickly so a little stronger loft is no problem. If you work on getting 4 or 5 degrees between each head you should be fine. Good luck hope you found the content helpful? Thanks

    How would you compare this to the Titleist U510 as a 2 or 3 iron for links style play, focussing on forgiveness from the fairway and off the tee?

    • @foregolfcustom
      @foregolfcustom  4 года назад +1

      Hmmm tough one. If you’re a low handicapper go Titleist but if you need more “help” and a little more spin go Mizuno. The 2 iron in HMB is 😘🚨
