    Very useful. Am considering that as I turn 80 in one more day, it is time to transition from my thin muscle back forged blades, with a 7-iron that has a 36 degree loft, which I now can carry only 130-140, to something that will give me an extra 15 yards. But I've played forged blades most of the 59 years I've been playing and can't stand bulky max game improvement clubs. I need something the looks close to a forged blade. You and at least four more pros who produce RUclips club test videos have all had great things to say about the Hot Metal Pro in terms of appearance, feel, sound and performance. If it works for them, well then, it will work for me. That's a huge psychological boost. So thank you for this.

    I hit these next to some Forged Clubs, couldn’t tell the difference at all. If I didn’t know, I would have guessed they were forged as well. Fantastic Clubs the HM Pro.

    If you combine HM pro with the forged you might have a gap in lofts. Is it better to weaken the longer clubs by 1° or should you rather strengthen the lofts of the shorter irons ?

    I have the MP-20 HMB from P - 5 iron. Instead of getting hmb 4(22°) and 3(19°) irons, I went with Hot Metal 5(22°) iron and 4(19°) iron because they have the same lofts but the hot metal are more forgiving.

    This is probably the third review I’ve seen with the HM pro and the guys are hitting it further than the bigger HM. About 10 yards further on every club. I got fitted for the HM pro with the UST Recoil ESX 460 shafts. I can’t wait till I get them in mid March. ⛳️🏌️🇺🇸

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  3 года назад +1

      Hi Norman. Although that may be the case (not sure which reviews you've seen with those results) the HM Pro and HM are both lofted exactly the same so should be very similar in distances subject to strike.
      In my original test reviews of the JPX921 series, the HM Pro carried 1 yard longer which statistically isn't relevant in an average of 178 yards. If you have seen reviews where the distances are that much different I would like to see head data that should accompany the ball data that justifies where the statistically relevant 10 yards is coming from. Only swing speed, dynamic loft, angle of attack or average strike location could affect distances by that kind of number.....
      Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍

    I had the JPX 921 HMP and as good as they were, the feel was dull. I switched two months ago to the MP 20 HMB and the feel was much better. I could easily tell where I was hitting it and adjusted. Both are very good but I scored better and enjoyed hitting the MP quite a bit more....

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  3 года назад +1

      The MP series for sure has much better feel and feedback. Unfortunately a lot of people completely dismiss testing them as they believe they are too hard to hit... Such a shame.....

    • @jmcdaniel2211
      @jmcdaniel2211 3 года назад

      I actually just did the same exact thing. I had the HMP and played them for 8 months. I do think that they are great irons, but the consistency just was never really there for me, both side to side and distance. I also am someone that can’t really hit hybrids well at all, but still kept at least one in my bag to try and get those longer yardages. I went ahead and purchased a 3-PW set of HMB, and the difference was very significant for me. I played my first round with the new irons yesterday, and I had so much fun hitting them. I can actually hit my 3 and 4 irons better than my old 4H. Then the rest of the clubs were so consistent and predictable for me too. That was without tweaking them to my specs (I bought a standard set and decided to customize it later instead of waiting 2 or more months to get a custom order).

      @@AskGolfNut Hi thanks for the reply, very refreshing as so many RUclipsrs don’t. Like any 14 handicapper my miss is very inconsistent. My bad shot is a left pull, maybe striking it a little off the toe. As I play at a tough links course it’s handy to keep the ball a little lower. We rarely play without wind. I’m a Mizuno nut, had 825/850/900/919 hm pro (had them stolen) and now HMB. Also got Driver, fairway & hybrids. Keep up the good work, always look out for your in depth & thorough reviews.

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  3 года назад

      Kev to put your mind at rest and understand totally if it was a good or poor decision (remember the fitter has to take some responsibility), I would find a good coach using head based tracking (Foresight systems) that can really drill down what the cause of the inconsistencies are and what changes can be made to correct the flaws whilst working with your current equipment.
      I do the above regularly as you wouldn't believe the amount of people make poor buying choices (again fitters must take some responsibility). 👍

    Hi Jay, I am currently gaming the JPX 900 forged and looking to update my irons. I am a 60 yr old 6 hcp golfer with a fairly low ball flight, my swing speed with a 7 iron is around 80mph, what are your thoughts between these 2 clubs for me, thanks

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  3 года назад +1

      Hi Tony, great question. Honestly the 900 Forged has a history of launching lower than initially designed. The 919 and 921 Forged are very much improved in that respect.
      Out of the two I'd probably go for the HM Pro but weakened off to the most loft possible. Although definitely test to see if the standard lofts give you the height and distance you are looking for 👍

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  3 года назад +2

      Without having a £20k launch monitor to tell you exactly where you are striking on the face, having / getting the correct amount of feedback can inform you of what is your strike pattern. Knowing this allows you to better your practice sessions and work on misshits.
