Lyrics:
Empire of Hunnu
When conquering the world
From the heart of Asia
When conquering half of the World
From the heart of Asia
Made the sky and earth thunder
Under the hooves of great horses
Made the pages of history
Of this world turn
Nomadic caravan of Hunnu Empire
Travels day and night
Crosses sea and ocean
Travels over far distance
Crosses the rivers
Conquers kingdoms and states
“Voices of the Ancestors” is a new concert programme by the drum and bagpipe group Auļi in collaboration with musicians from various countries around the world. Auļi have travelled far and wide to meet singers representing ancient and unusual singing traditions and techniques. This time the group has focused on powerful men’s voices that characterise a specific region. Performances by well-known singers from various geographical regions merge with the Auļi’s powerful instrumental music based in Latvian traditional music, creating an impressive programme of world music.
Auļi’s first guest in concert is Mongolian throat singer Batzorig Vaanchig. In order to preserve the intrigue, the names of the other three musicians will be announced in due time.
“We’ve become acquainted with several representatives of ancient singing traditions and discovered how these voices meld with drums and bagpipes as well as with Latvian folk songs. We invite you to come along with us on this exciting and memorable journey!”

This is one of those things that just makes me sit there smiling because just... Humans. The experience of being human is timeless, and certain kinds of art and expressions of humanity just make you sit there and think "If this was several thousand years ago, this would still fill me with the same emotions I am experiencing right now. This would still resonate with me." Despite cultural and technological changes, there is something intrinsic to people no matter race or age or time period and that is art. I love the human drive to create and connect, to put yourself into art and say, "Here I am. Do you see me? Here we are. Together. Do you see us?"
I love your comment. Haha. And that's rare.

This video is AWESOME!!.....hate it when some folks talk about "culture appropriation"......it's through the sharing of our cultures...we gain a greater understanding....and this video is F ing awesome!!!.....
underrated comment.
There's a big difference between culture appropriation and what is happening in this video/project. Here we can see how individuals of two different culturesmet together to make a project/art, they are equals and probably had important conversations about what they meant for them their traditions. Cultural appropriation is when someone from other cultures (specially someone privileged) and simply takes them without any thought or what do that cultural aspect means or signifies to the people that belongs to, plus makes it "cool" or "exotic" whereas the people that originally had it, are criminalized or down looked for the same thing.
This isn't cultural appropriation. Cultural appropriation is when it's taken and worn like a costume with no respect for the people it belongs to or the traditions behind something. This is cultural sharing because there is a mutual exchange of something incredible.
@@aideismm476 but i think thats the point. That *there is* a difference between cultural apropriation and sharing and apreciating another culture. That difference is respect and recognition.
But there are people today who i gues are confused or just closed minded and dont see a difference. Ive actually heard people say that learning a different language is cultural apropriation. Or a mexican learning to play the bagpipes. As if its *their* culture and you cant even look at it let alone partake in it.
And personally i think those people hurt the *real* cases of cultural apropriation. For example there is alot of it in america with our native tribes. And its not taken seriously, or as seriously as it should.
@@aideismm476 Leftist snowflakes are why we stopped having cool things. We need to Make Europe Great Again, by sending these people to Hel.
