You could use this for a multiplayer Monday! Have the drawing area hidden and the printer/carver separate. One person could be the artist and the others could be the guessers. The artist would have to paint a picture and it would get printed on the cardboard panel. Since its monochrome, it would be difficult to guess what they drew. Almost like the old Pictionary! Great vid btw :)
This should be a challenge for Multiplayer Monday: Everyone gets one of these Printers and you are only allowed to print your car parts (apart from bearings, seats and maybe wheels) and weld them together. How epic is that?! This would be the most complicated way to build a car :D
The more accurate name for something that 3 Dimensional makes something is a Milling Machine. Laser Cutting is for flat thin surface cutting, and 3D printing prints by adding materials, Milling works by cutting out of material. Hope that clears that up. =)
Scrapman, remember when you had fifteen by fifteen sensors and has to add another row, that's why the sensors didn't turn on, because they weren't sent to white. Like so scrapman can see.
If you want to make a primitive 3d 'laser cutter" (I guess it would be called a two-axis CNC machine?), all you have to do is start out with two of those cutters you have rigged up, facing along the X and Y axis of a block of cardboard, draw the perspectives for each axis, and then you'll end up with a 3d model based on your perspectives! If you want more detail, you can also rig up a cutter on the Y axis, otherwise from the top your design will basically be a rectangle. By the way, it would be kind of interesting to make a milling machine- basically the same carving mechanism you have here would work (although perhaps only an 8x16 field would be necessary), and have it repeatedly fire at a block of cardboard mounted on a bearing. Honestly, some logic wizards could make awesome sculpting machines out of this update, it'll be exciting to see what people come up with!
do a challenge where using ur printer in multiplayer Monday make individual parts for a car and weld and allow a seat switch thruster engine of any type and wheels of any type
I love this creation and your videos. Suggestion. you should take it off the switch and put it on a button so it only cycles once. And I feel like there is a way to add on to this for 3d if you made another sensor wall and spud gun wall 90° from what you already have. Pretty much make a second one of these printers and put it next to it but facing sideways. I know it would be a ton of work but I know you could do it :) also forgot. Don't draw anything just put an item down that has no white on it and have 2 white walls behind it making a corner opposite of your sensors
flying munk89 This won't work with some of the creations which are dented inwards from all sides. So you need 6 printers to have an actual 3D build. But it is impossible to have a door in any of these printers so they have to unfold from a cube and lay on the ground after the printing finishes.
You know you *CAN* make a 3D printer very easily, just make box that has card boared inside, just that you cant have it falling, you can have a 3d car!
Two Thing They Should Add, Paint Guns And Another Sensor Setting With Color Logic If It Picks Up A Color In The Setting It Can Be Hooked To A Paint Gun And The Paint Gun Would Change It’s Own Color! If They Add This You Could Make A Colored Printer
You should do this but make multiple pieces and put them together then it will make something 3D like just put it together like you would a normal build love your videos btw
Make it a 3d one by making multiple drawing boards so it carves what's on one board then on the next board and also make spud walls on all sides to keep it from only being able to make half circles I choses which side it carves the picture from by scanning what color is on top like top red wall front top black wall back sorry if you can't understand this I don't play scrap mechanic is it free? Sorry for asking but if you think this is a good idea like. Also I think there should be a block like paint can that can change the colors of other blocks the paint can when connected to a switch you can make up to 5 colors and pushing the button changes the color of the paint can then use a piston to push the can onto the blocks you want this would mean d Full color printing. Also scrap mechanic needs the sensors to sense block type so then the drawing board can detect block type which will be important for the next two ideas. A tool that can change block type of blocks like the paint tool but instead of color type. Now make that paint tool esce block changer into a block like the paint bucket from before. Now imagine the spud walls gunning a cardboard square into a cardboard circle then turn the brown cardboard into red and black concrete see true printer.oh and also the block adder could add a spud gun device to hollow out the ball now you have a hollow scrap ball ready for adding stuff inside I present to you the creation printer TA DA! Sorry for long comment tho.
Potato storm, 1,000,000 potatoes per minute. Shoots custom cardtidge seeds. It costs $10,000 to fire for 12 seconds. Lol I got that from a metal storm video lol.
It looks to me like the game is trying to enforce a sort of "active sensor limit" by shutting off random sensors (and other things that work similarly) to preserve processing resources, as sensors like this usually use a simple form of raycasting, which is collision based, and can get resource intensive.
you should make it where the copy falls are gonna be sensors and those will activavate pistons waht wil push it away and go back in more rows if you want to make several copies
You work really hard on this video and I really hope on some other videos but it's easier and takes less time for you so that you have more time to have fun poor scrap man
What if you had a timer that brought a spud gun wall after it was printed down to shoot out the white "canvas" (will have to be cardboard) instantaneously and then get out of the way again to allow it to print the canvas behind it? Seems you could 3D Print things then!
Imagine, if you will, a machine that has two platforms. One is for the model, the other is for the copy. Both platforms have an upside-down L shapes that synchronously spin around with difference being that on the 'scan' side there are sensors, while on the 'copy' side they are spud guns. This way, at least in theory, for every block the a sensor detects the corresponding spud gun will not fire, but for every space it will, carving out a cardboard copy of an object from the 'scan' platform.
To make an effective 3D version, I suggest putting two sensors facing each other with the thing you want to duplicate in the middle. IF this is possible, have the sensors detect how far away each block is and translate that to ...carving power? Never played or heard of this game before, don't get mad

As an engineer, that car made me be in a lot of mental pain. But anyways, that spud-cutter is amazing, totally worth the 3 hours it took you do film. Good work! :-D
It is like a png maker, it makes the background transparent! :D The board you paint on is mspaint.exe, and the printer is like.. what do we call it.. a Photoshop .png converter? :D

how about saving the whole thing entirely then making a bunch of them and drawing different layers of the object and weld them to make something 3d (or just make the different layers with the same machine)
ya could just copy and paste that again and make it able to print 3d(the sensors and the spud guns in an L shape around the input place and the printing place), and that would be even cooler!
imagine a challange where you build a vehicle for racing and/or fighting, but the pannels you use for your vehicle can only be built with this spud cutter
god if i get tired from making the tire treadmill then what about this , subbed cause finally scrap mechanic content !!! lemme tell ya you earned it !!

hello
gonna download this
Scrapman you should use the destructable block mod and then you can laser out stone and stuff
build a heavy shotgun
You could probably make it 3D, i doubt it would be that hard, but i guess it's easy to say when i don't see the time it took to make just 2D.

Place a metal board or something on the back of the cardboard, so that you can have floating pieces.
Yeah, and you could paint your background on it.
nope

If you put a solid metal wall behind the cardboard would the cardboard be stuck to the metal so you could make lots of separate things?
Zippy2707 I was thinking the same thing.
No because if he did that then it wouldn’t come off automatically.
Zippy2707 brilliant
Yes but it is no need to be metal just indestructible
Just make the bottom row of metal air space not metal so then it still is its own object.
You should have one on every side so it can make the cardboard printout 3d
It would be immensely difficult and probably even impossible to make
It is possible, but would take hours to make
The logic programming behind that would be insane

The simpler version of this is have laser cutters on each side of a cube of blocks that cut away a certain amount each to make a figure.
Multiplayer monday, build a car with only one printer for all and you guys need to bring your canvis to the Spud cutter and cut the part
You should use this to print the pieces of a vehicle and weld them and make it functional maybe a multiplayer Monday thing
Multiplayer Monday idea Re-post it and ask for likes so scrapman sees it
do a challenge where using ur printer in multiplayer Monday
make individual parts for a car and weld and allow a seat
switch thruster engine of any type and wheels of any type

you can do 3D on it by layering multiple walls of cardboard and leaving it on until you get your shape carved out in 3D
omg so true
That exactly what I was thinking
How would you do concave or hollow shapes tho
That looks like connection art ^-^
If u make 2 cutters and angle one facing the side of the canvas but also have the canvas like a cube u could make a 3D printer

Hey scrapman you should make a car out of that lazer cutter thing i think you could but it would be difficult
this is extremely useful for building better creations
Make it so you don’t have to do lever on, button, lever off
Make it so you just press the button and it prints once
