- Welcome to another episode of Scrap Mechanic! Today we check out the Plunger Mod! That's right... plungers. Like...for toilets...in Scrap Mechanic. This mod is pretty ridiculous so lets make ridiculous things! How about a plunger walker that uses plunger suction to walk up walls, and maybe plunger darts? You got any other ideas?

If anyone doesn't know what a "How can does" episode is, it is basically an episode where things go very wrong (11:55) and it's very funny.

That would be way to laggy for scrap mechanic and also be to complex to be built in a limited time
Its ez its like building a walker put alot of plungers on the feet
But i do agree on lag in scrap mechanic

@Scrapman, everyone, i am sure the way it worked is that when you have a multi-layer metal sheet it actually transforms into 1 big block for the game.
if you now have 1 single layer metal sheet with a diffrent material like concrete or anything behind it, it will now be 2 seperat blig blocks.

It probably does, the pistons seem to allow the plungers to glitch through cuz they stretch farther than they should
yeah, when he was testing how they stick, the piston was still making the particle effects from the piston pushing even though it wasnt pushing
mabye he could use wheels to drieve it towarsd the wall

When you said a vehicle with plungers, what i first thought was a vehicle with its wheels replaced with plungers. Kinda like the bomb wheels. But this time its plungers! Please do this in the next episode 👍

Great video! You could try and attach the plungers in a wheel style and just rotate it (like the old cartoon vehicles). Also it would be fun to see this mod combined with ropes. Not sure if they would be able to interact correctly but it would be cool to have a grappling system with plungers lol.

just a second before you talk about the explosive art competition I was thinking the same thing ... it could be something like starting with a solid cube of material and carving it with explosives giving it some definite shape

Wait until he realizes the wall just has to be REALLY thick for the plunger to not teleport through.
It's like the weird 'falling through the earth' physic. Needs more solid in the way, not just 1 or 2 layers in the way.

It did really bad because the second set of plungers were also trying to stick to the wall at the same time.

No. The wall is just too big. The mod was made for 0.3.0 and it's 0.3.2 already. We didn't have offset impulses back then, so the bigger the wall and the further a plunger is from the center - the glitchier it is.

You should use plungers and explosives to make a crane game bomb drop challenge; you have to sort various car parts and bombs out of a pile of random mix with a crane game contraption for multiplayer monday, you need to sort the bombs into the “detonation site” funnel that is right beside the “building supplies” funnel and those funnels move around on a looped track path. The bombs if dropped in the wrong one will break down your potential parts, in the end you each take the various parts you gathered and try to make a vehicle that can fight and race then try to see who survives or finishes the race first, plungers can be used in the vehicles to attach bomb arms and stuff if you manage to grab them safely,
I really hope the scrap mechanic devs make plungers a thing themselves.

I feel that the problem was the number of layers each wall had. Like the plungers try to go to the farthest layer away. For example, the concrete one worked because it was only one layer thick while every other wall had two or more layers. Another example is when he tries to fire the first dart into the first wall with like five layers and it just embedded it's self inside.

Try a glitch that i found on vanilla : put a piston on 15 speed ans 1 long. And put à block un front of it, you’ll get a massive smoke ring !

Multiplayer Monday, upside down plunger walker race, no wheels, no thrusters to keep u on the ceiling. This would be interesting, seeing if you can make a machine that can, walk, hold its weight, and also if it can move fast. Just think of it as a redo on the monkey bars race only no monkey bars, and its upside down.

Oh wow, i did not even expect any attention to this mod.
The plungers did not work well, because their strength is proportional to the distance from the center of the wall. So the bigger the wall the stronger plungers are. If you made the wall out of different materials or in painted it in the checkered pattern it would've worked.
Ok, i updated it. Now it should work with any kind of wall.

The pistons worked best with a SINGLE LAYER. Thats why the concrete was so much better. The plungers weren't trying to stick to the layers behind it.

according to the mod description, the mod has trouble with large objects such as cubes made by the player, if you paint it in a checkered pattern or 2 different materials in a checkered material, it works fine
The bottom plungers were automatically extended a little. Plus the plumber power increases the further you push them
can you make a car factory where the car is made out of pieces en you use the plungers like a welding mechanism
Bc the Pistons can't crash, they push the plungers straight through the wall. If the walker had no pistons I think it would work. :)

I mean, it just be the script freaking out because of how big the wall is and how many blocks there is for the plunger to touch, like most scripts in sm now lol. The wooden wall “wooden” work because it was probs waaay too tall and too many blocks, the concrete wall was a perfect height and thickness and the metal wall was just too big, very viable reason.
Only 5 minutes in, but I’m already thinking these would be great for trailers that can attach & detach automatically.
