Jax from American Idol: I have thyroid cancer

- Jax - the 20-year-old East Brunswick singer of American Idol fame - told New Jersey 101.5's Bill Spadea Monday morning she has thyroid cancer. It's the first time she's spoken about it publicly.
She took a few minutes to share her story in more depth in the New Jersey 101.5 "dorm room."

You are a great gal. Hang in there. Be true to yourself. My daughter had thyroid cancer when she was 20 also. The struggle is real! God has you here for a reason. You are multi-faceted. I look very forward to hearing you sing again.
Glad you found out about the Cancer early. I know how your family felt and seen what it can do to a young ladies mind and being. My daughter, at the age of 11 found out she had Thyroid Cancer and we found it through a lump that showed up one morning out of the blue. She is now 17 and things are semi normal. Nothing is really ever normal after cancer but at least you are getting better. Hugs to you and You are a strong young lady as is my daughter and you will both do well in life and be healthy forever :) XOXO

Jax i love your whole soul. I am finding out about you slowly but surely. Ive been in a loop. Lost so to speak. I got strung out and didnt listen to main stream music, nor watched American idol and ive never followed people on tic tok or any of that. I will say this, you are an inspiration and loved by many. I havent found yet if your cancer is in remission or what , but i see you are doing well and your Victoria secret song hit 1 on the Billboard. You are very blessed . Don't forget that. From being on American idol to where you are now helping people that are different from what others have said or to what companies plant to make them rich . Or richer ! You have done a lot to help a lot of people. And Just know, everyone dies but not everyone lives. 💪 Love ya buddy.

Nobody knows how to interact with people with cancer, there's little awareness being taught on that subject despite tons of money going into it, and hair parades and coloured bottles. It's still something those who don't have it don't know how to approach with someone who does. A lot of illnesses are like that though. It is typically more upsetting to have to feel like you're alone to deal with it when friends disappear. Even when someone is still there for you, the loss of any friends hurts.

Hi Jax how heard about your thyroid issues .... I have a question what were your symptoms I have several nodules on my thyroid and last year they tested one nodule and they told me fine but I've been experiencing difficulty swallowing, asthma and feeling really depressed and tire please tell me what symptoms you've had I'm afraid there might be something wrong...Thank you
I know it's like 6 years later but did you find out anything because I have these same symptoms and the doctor told me that my thyroid is fine
