Do you know how many crossings there were between New York and Washington before they were dismantled? I know there were a few in Maryland but was there also one in Delaware too?
All AEM-7ACs received e-bells as part of their remanufacturing. A select few DC motors did get e-bells during the mid 2000s but I don’t remember which ones.
Not allowed to flash them by rule (it's a technical reason due to a wiring issue). They have to be ON when moving unless dimming for an oncoming train.
@@FFred-us9tw I seen a couple videos where they were flashing. One from like 2003. And another one of them flashing while passing workers. I’ll get the video links later.
@@slendermanRblx the restriction to not use them didn’t come about till much later than 03’. And while they are not supposed to use them, doesn’t mean some Engineers are following instructions. They’re not disconnected. Just not supposed to be used.
@@FFred-us9tw the ditchlights flash automatically on some acela sets when the horn is used. breaking that rule is unavoidable unless the ditchlights need to be set to on for the automatic flashing to work.
@@CTSLRailfan None of the Acelas have ditch lights that flash automatically unless the switch is put in the AUTO position. The ditch light switch has the settings of: OFF-ON-FLASH-AUTO. By rule, we are only allowed to keep them in the ON position When moving. Unlike the ACS-64s, Acela ditch lights will never flash on their own with the horn. It’s only if it’s in that switch position.
Toasters and hippos, such a shame they are gone now. Great post!
That it is. Thanks!
it was sad to see the Acela Regional being retired, if the HHP-8 didn't have those issues i think it would still be in service today with the ACS-64's
they are turning the hhp8 into cab cars now

Son: Can we get a Toaster?
Mom: We have Toaster at home

Not sure of that exact amount but I would say between 10 and 20 total. I don’t know if there were any in Delaware.
It’s sounds acela Amtrak horn
Yes it does
Both have K5LA Hybrid horns. Very good sound to em. One of the P40s sold to NJ Transit and later CDot has one too.
Does anybody know when the AEM-7s recieved E bells?

1:33 I like this part of the aem-7 sounded his k5la like that
Awesome video!! Just subbed!!!
Interesting menu here, Meatballs and Bananas. 😁😁
Why bananas?
HHP's are shaped like Bananas when viewed from broadside. They were called that originally before "Hippos" caught on.
@@johnrich2102 oh ok
I noticed most acela and HHP-8 engineers never bother flashing their ditchlights most of the time in vids i see them constantly lit or off
