Been a long time fan of Ricky Gervais. Im shocked to have found out just now that he is the voice of this song - one of my all time fave new wave track!
Ricky Gervais, lead singer of Seona Dancing is well-known as a comedian and while he is never as popular as Michael Jackson, Madonna, George Michael (singer of Wham!) etc. I never judge the quality of pop stars. To this day, there are lots of British new wave / synth-pop bands, like Depeche Mode, the Cure, New Order / Joy Division, the Smiths, Echo & the Bunnymen, the Police and the Pet Shop Boys are my least liked artists of all time. Their song "More to Lose" is ultimately popular in the Philippines that gained popularity. And this is why Filipinos are appealing to this kind of music in any decades that I don't really care about it anymore. But everyone wasn't a fan of Ricky because he is a "failed pop star", and all of us don't watch sitcoms nowadays. That was my opinion, I know...
What were 80's...... Nothing im music, art , but even in society and politic is comparable today. Fantasy, freedom, geniality I' m happy to have been 20 aged in those years ( and cry looking at today )
This must be the greatest song on Rejection ever written. It hits so hard and true. A perfect microcosm of my first love, who also rejected my love and whose scars I still carry to this day. Anyone who has had their love rebuffed this is a healing salve. Kyla you are amazing for sharing this from the other persons perspective⭐💛
I never knew that Ricky gervais was the voice behind of this new wave song that we liked!only now December 08,2019,that I discovered this fact on listsverse.
He laughs it off and cringes but the fact of the matter is THIS is an incredible song. Considering when it came out, I'm amazed it never went mainstream.
I’m very annoyed his music wasn’t huge here in America, his voice and everything is perfect. It’s Bowie meets the cure, my gothic butt can’t get enough of his music
Holy fuck.. i remember my mom and aunts always playing this song back then. I never knew this eas rucky gervais. LoL. Just found the tape hahaha this is awesome.
If you want wisdom; Looking in the mirror and seeing pitted, wrinkled, scarred and aged skin. Creases marked indelibly into the forehead and eyes from years of facial frowns and smiles, skin that has travelled miles in the icy winds on bikes and on foot, makes me wince at how it all used to be... To remember how pure and fresh, how perfect my skin was back when I was invincible and I thought I'd live forever, brings a pain in my heart that I cannot seem to shift loose. A pain that acts as a reminder of the fact that time waits for no man and never goes back, only onwards. So we must seize the day, literally. Do not hold off from those big, crazy ideas.. lest before you know it, 30 years hath disappeared before your very eyes. Do what you need to do. Care not if it involves giving up your current job, to gamble on another. It WILL work out!! Don't be so scared of it! As long as you're willing to keep at it, and as long as you've a beating heart, it will all work out! Life really is short. It is better to act on your dreams than watch them pass you by in the wake of decades past, reminding you, always, of what once could have been...
I remember seeing this album cover as a lil lil kid..lmfao.thats hilaripus just foundput thats ricky...hey decent 80s music..but the funny and the gift of karl pilkington yet to come😏
This is actually a really good song. There's something missing though. It definitely had the potential to be great but seems like the production was lacking somewhere
this song used to tear up the dance floor in the Philippines back in the day.
in fact thats the 2nd national anthem in RP
@@unscathedlikeice what's the first? i'm curious :P
@@zat0ichi007 well, i guest the National Anthem?
It's extraordinary to hear a pulse pounding piano.
Travelling back in time where good music and good times are so alive. Life was simple back then. A masterpiece from the 80's

Likewise, didn't realise he was (part of) seona dancing lol

I long for the alternate universe where Ricky pursued this career and made it.
Agreed. You've got to play this on full volume. It's a belter.
No, then there would be no Office or Karl Pilkington.
@@Lindenrd25 you win some you lose some lol
I wish Ricky would recognize the awesomeness of his and McRae's songs and officially re-released them...and perhaps created some new ones.
New Wave never fades!!!

It's really cool how much Gervais has given us. He truly deserves his success.
Gotta edit and say the Bowie inspiration is very obvious
i can't believe ricky gervais is part of this band...one of the good songs from the 80s
Filipinos are sentimental people...the lyrics of this song had drawn them to love it in the 80's and perhaps until today!
bowie obviously had an influence on his style back then..so nice to see he got to be friends with him later on
Party music in the 80's and new wave never dies.
..a very requested piece from our cover sets of new wave songs back in the days..enjoyable to play this one..
He's not fooling anyone. I know he's rock and roll through and through.
This is an absolute belter.
The same man who would go on to write a beautiful tribute to Slough.
Super-talented 😊

Never tired of listening to this🎶🎶🎶
This is one of these underrated/ignored 80's new wave classic.
Ricky was so pretty and those cheekbones especially! Well, he is part Iroquois.
This is cool... a work of art great voice Rikki
this song is timeless.
Agreed. It's fantastic. 😎
He has a great voice! Good song too!
He laughs it off and cringes but the fact of the matter is THIS is an incredible song. Considering when it came out, I'm amazed it never went mainstream.
Agreed, absolutely magnificent 👏
Did it not? Was popular here, in our neck of the woods (philippines)
He doesn't laugh too much. He jokes on TV that the difference between him her and him there is a lot of Pizza
TO be fair, the man has become a cynical and crass comedian. I don't really think he even recognizes the beauty in this song.
I’m very annoyed his music wasn’t huge here in America, his voice and everything is perfect. It’s Bowie meets the cure, my gothic butt can’t get enough of his music
2020 still rocks!
Wow! That's insane!!

Beautifully said.
I can listen to Ricky saying: "My bandmate's haircut is messy... my bandmate's haircut is messy... my bandmate's head is like a fuckin' rat's nest".
He was such a pretty boy
Still is........
He is almost beautiful here.
A touch of David Bowie

The best
I turned it off after 20 seconds as Ricky's eyes on that record cover were burning a hole through my brain .

New wave of 1984 seona dancing More to lose
The drums at the start sound like quiet riots come on feel the noise
Because it was mixed into The Cure's song Inbetween Days for example.

Not really rare in the Philippines. Remixed by the late DJ Jamtrax in the New Wave Diary series.
Agree... New wave forever! I still have the full New Wave Diary MP3s
Feel the songs drum beat
Actually a really decent tune. Needed to be cut down and sped up imo.
I still have a crush on Ricky Gervais even though I'm a foot taller than him. lol
Your 6'8"?😁
TBF I was expecting that to be utter shite but it was actually ok and not half bad..fair play Ricky
I will not have this song bandied about the office willy nilly.
This remix is done by DJ Jamtrax. R.I.P.

Ricky looks so strange here. I am not used to seeing a thin Ricky.
I'm shocked by how beautiful he is.
Pretty boy gervais with Robert Pattinson who knew
Bill Mcrae. He does look like Robert.
Hey OP, who did this mix? The synths, drums, key boards... I remember this hearing this song being broadcasted over the radio.
It's a great mix. 👍
Robert Pattinson before Batman
..Looks like my Girlfriend at the Time ......so pretty 😆😁

A guitar, that's what this song is missing.
Take it as it is. Song as great as this one we not have the right to look for what seems missing. Peace out 🤗
Yes it sounds too Eurovision. Like My Lovely Horse. Which in fairness was decent.
This break up song is way much better than TayTay's .
It looks like Robert Paterson to the left.
No.
I had the same thought 😂 Maybe he really is an un-aging vampire lmaooo
Bill Macrae.
Bill looks like Robert Pattinson.
Ricky looks like David Bowie
Which one is Ricky? This is shocking😂
He's on the right. Bill McRae is the other guy.
Ricky looked like the backpack kid
Good but not great like 'Bitter Heart.'
I think this is SO much better but I like them both.
God it’s so awful
It is absolutely fantastic to me but I respect your opinion 😊
