A truly beautiful bird, one of the most perfect designed Fighter jets, yes it's old generation, i am not referring to it's capability by today's standards but just the sheer elegance of the design....I believe it was Sir Sydney Camm who designed it, the same man who designed the often forgotten Battle of Britain 'Other' fighter, The famous Hawker Hurricane! Camm also designed the Typhoon and Tempest plus the Sea Fury too., and was involved in the initial harrier ancestor the P1127/Kestrel. Hawker got it right with this Post war Jet unlike supermarine who undoubtedly had the 'winner' with the Spitfire but when it came to jets not so good, the much maligned supermarine swift being a prime example. The Hunter visually and the sound of the famous 'Blue' noise was without equal. From a time when Britain actually made aircraft! The UK today is a service industry economy and financial management (banking) country...nothing is made here any more oh except a couple of aircraft carriers (which prove the UK still could be a manufacturing power house if it had the right leadership, ah well, One can dream. ?
Where we spent our holidays when I was a child we used to hear the Hunters as they practised firing their guns at ground targets on the coast. Great sound of them roaring into the target.
@@richardweldon2062 The Hawker Hunters have served in the Indian Air Force and has shown marvellous performance in 1965 and 1971 Indo Pak Wars. These big yet highly manoeuvrable jet has a good history in the Indian Air Force. They later on became the IAF's first aerobatic team, the Black Thunderbolts. Marvellous British fighter, also termed as the gentleman's plane.
I read about four IAF Hawker Hunters at the battle of Longewala in 1971, where they were effective in stopping the advancing Pakistani tanks and infantry. 36 tanks were destroyed then.
@@grzegorzkowalski5100 yes, you're right. These aircrafts were highly effective against much swifter Sabre jets. The PAF faced lot of trouble downing these jets during 1971 war.
@@grzegorzkowalski5100 my Grandfather was in No. 10 Squadron, which had Hunters at that time. He was one of the pilots who flew anti armor operations against Pakistani Army in Longewala
35 years ago walking near portland bill, 2 hunters screamed past overhead...the famous blue note was in full effect...very loud and strangely foreboding...for a 13 year old...👏👏👏👏...still has me transfixed now
Being a ground attack aircraft, I'd say the sound alone would be enough to disperse the enemy. That jet has the character that only raf airplanes have.
I'm as American as it gets. But you English should justifiably be proud of such a gorgeous aircraft. One of the purest most graceful designs ever. One of my all time favorites.
The Hunter howl at 1:18 - lovely - we were always told this was caused by airflow over the cannon ports.
I believe it's the shape of the engine inlet on the wings, the same reason the Vulcan has the howl.
Same in the p51
@@ccetc1 no.. that’s the supercharger

Sir Sydney Camm definitely designed a classic, beautiful looking aircraft. The sound is awesome.

My dad was a pilot who used to operate this type of aircraft back in the 70's And i have videos of it thankfully

Los chilemos amamos este avion
The Hunter was a great aircraft. Hawker should have made a naval “Sea Hunter” variant for the Royal Navy carriers. 🇬🇧
love this plane
That sounds awesome!!!!
I saw a video of a hunter that sounded like a tie fighter these things sound awesome.
Wouldnt surprise me if it aint what that used, alot of the films did get filmed at boreham wood.. In uk...

The " escarapela " of the Fuerza Aerea Neetherlands Hunters Mk F6
Hawker Hunters were extensively used during the 1971 Indo Pak War..A captured aircraft is kept at Jaisalmer War Museam
I want my own hawker hunter now lol
this thing remind me of movie border...... when Indian pilots bombarded Pakistani pattern tanks
Uno de los aviones.mas lindo en todo.

Whenever I’m on Flightradar24 i always see these private owners flying their hawkerhunter in formation.
I always see that too around the Los Angeles coast area
4 of them tonight over Ventura
All the furries: AWHOOOO!
wistle not hawling sound. Tho only howling sound is about the f-104
Or the Vulcan? 🤔
@Gerry Page ive listened to the F104 and tbh it doesn't howl like a Vulcan more like the Hunter but slightly louder.
I see it has a very similar intake and aero to the Vulcan bomber and they have very similar howls, I wonder if there's correlation there?
Imagine if they let people keep the guns and various armaments functional
Add a powerful after burning engine and an aesa radar and BVR/WVR missiles and see who can touch a hunter
Simple Igla MANPAD 😆
