Hi! We usually encourage querying as an illustrator, and then mentioning in your query letter that you're also interested in authoring. You can also include any picture book dummies you may have as part of your portfolio to show off your author side :)

Hi! Some chapter books have color illustrations :) This would usually be up to the publisher's discretion
