- In this video we walk you through what we think is the best way to Build Super Strong Dana 44 Series Axles that retain the factory 5x5 bolt pattern. We performed with build to a client's 2015 Jeep Wrangler JKU that came originally equipped with a Dana 30/ Dana 44 Combination. As an overview we installed a Teraflex Dana 44 front axle and filled it with 4.56 Revolution Gears, an ARB Air Locker and 35 Spline RCV axles! We kept the stock rear Dana 44 axle housing and beefed it up with some new 35 Spline Revolution Gear axle shafts, 4.56 gears & a ARB Locker as well! Before we wrapped up final install we installed new Dynatrac big brakes to help provide much needed improved stopping power.
An ARB twin Compressor was mounted under the hood using Metalcloak's bracket and an SPOD was installed to control all of the electrical accessories! Авто/Мото
... heh. Passenger Eject. I can think of many things to hook up to that, some of them fit for public mention, some not so much XD
Love this shop
This mod is one I'm eventually going to undertake as well, though I'm going a bit deeper on the gearing.
Are you far from Maryland I hope not I’m coming with a diesel rubicon soon
We aren't too far from Maryland! Where are you from?!
What arb air locker you use in the rear? RD147 or RD157?
RD147 since it was a non-Rubicon housing
what was the cost for this axle upgrade?
An axle loaded with all these goodies, complete with new knuckles, brakes, and RCV shafts is around $7-8k for the front, and for the shafts gears and lockers it's about $2.5k in parts for the rear. These are rough numbers and does not include the labor for install.
What is the ball park price for a job like this
Axle builds like this can vary depending on exactly what modifications are completed. A good range is $10K -$15K for custom axles.
