I paid $110 for a broken Xbox One X and $110 for a broken PS4 Slim to see if I can fix them. Also, I want to see what kind of money I can potentially make on them of they're fixable so I'll do a breakdown of costs and see what similar consoles are selling for to find out the minimum amount of profit I could probably earn on these.

90's electronics I've seen SMD caps leak this nasty cap juice (smells like fish) and it can actually destroy the whole PCB. The most interesting one I've seen was a Mac II LC make a really strange whining noise. They replaced the caps and the noise went away, but they had to repair the board. There was cap juice all over the place. The board was getting coroded. I've seen another one with a Commodore Amiga that wouldn't turn on because of faulty caps. In more recent repairs I saw MattKC repair a $3 WII with a dark display. Only thing wrong with it was a single cap. Interestingly enough in spite of it being newer, there was still cap juice, it was still damaging the board. It shouldn't be as bad these days. 90's and 00's SMD caps were trash. The modern ones are a lot better. Through hole caps don't seem to have this problem as much.

It sucks that people just throw stuff away instead of fixing it. I actually tried fixing my old iPhone 5 I got in 2019 when I was 13 and I bought a new screen and battery, the old screen was obliterated, and the battery was 9 years old at the time, this was in September 2021 when I tried to fix it, but unfortunately, the screen I bought was a cheap piece of junk that fried the iPhone. I use that experience to buy quality parts, not cheap aftermarket parts, because it can kill phones the way it did to my iPhone 5.

My PS4 slim has no life on the optical drive and apparently it is one of a few fuses that is blown on the mobo but all of those are fine (I don't have a multimeter with continuity but I use the diode mode, if that is the correct method). Now thanks to the video, I can check the switches for any broken ones!

How long did it take for you to become comfortably proficient with soldering? You are the best I have seen.
