Thanks for fixing my Xbox Phil. I had sent it to cex first as I didn’t know any better and when they couldn’t fix it I started investigating the issue online and that’s how I found out about this channel.
I bought a faulty Xbox one x with a faulty disc drive.from cash generator.Worst case scenario, just use it with hard drive. For £95 was a cheap upgrade from the 360 ,and Hadn’t even seen a one x ! . Long story short, stripped it down, cleaned it ,fresh paste.opened disc drive…various British coins jammed in there. Money in my pocket, and works a treat now.. Great videos, nowhere near your skill level, but love watching you fix these consoles..
That Louis Rossman dig was mint, lol. Jokes aside, you do some incredible work, man. I soldered a few LED strip lights together with some JST plugs, and I thought I was king shit, (for about ten minutes). One thing that I think would make a badass video would be to explain soldering a bit. Like what type of solder to use, what type of flux to use, what type of tips to use, basically a full-blown soldering tips & tricks/instructional video. I'm using the solder that came with the kit I bought, and have no idea what kind it is. I'm running low, and will need to buy more soon. I'm using this stuff called Ruby Red Flux that's in a plastic container the same shape as a can of snuff tobacco. Though it works well, it has a tendency to stain things like the silicone on strip lights, and I have to brush it on rather than use a syringe. I think an informational video would be incredibly valuable to noobs like me, lol. Thank you for all you do, it means a lot!
Cheers mate, I will see what I can do about the videos :) it wasn't a dig at Louis though, more a sign of respect. I have a lot of admiration for Louis. He's a great guy and a fantastic technician too 😀
@@TheCod3r Naw, that's what I meant. Louis is a champion among men so I knew you were giving him props, and respect. I guess I meant more of a lighthearted jab, lol. You guys are the cream of the crop in my opinion. Between you, Louis, and Steve at Tronix I've learned a ton of applicable info. I made a custom wired strip light rig for my desktop setup, and I wouldn't have tried if not watching your guys' videos. It sounds paltry, but I had to make two 1 to 2 JST plug split cables to do it. THANK YOU!
Hey the cod3r heres an idea would you be willing to go to a CEX store and challenging them on what they do just so we have an on-site on what they do would be great as a video?
I doubt they even completely disassemble any of the consoles phil has fixed from them. They're Slacking off. don't do repairs if you're gonna half ass it CEX.
Love your videos I've started dabbling around fixing consoles nothing like you I can't afford the top end tools like you have can I ask what flux do you use I do heatpaste etc I'm wondering what flux you use I'm hoping to rgh 3.0 my 360
I have 2 Xbox One X's and one turns on then off within 2 seconds. The encoder checked good and the voltages I can find seem fine (can't get under the PSU). The other is no power and the encoder looked rough, there's issues with the pads and I have been lazy to clean it. I just wish I could get one where I do the encoder and then it's fine, but instead it's gotta be hard shit with a maybe dead APU.
I only use CEX for their £1 Blu rays and DVD's... For everything else they seem to be overpriced by a long shot.. Seen a ps5 for nearly £600 in there 2nd hand!
Very brave leaving the mug filled with coffee whiles you work on electronics, reminds me of the time I spilled soda all over my laptop whilst just holding it.
Hi phil just woundering have you ran Into the issue off ps5 displays fine but not in colour its black and while grey scale kinda thing i jumped the gun and just replaced the hdmi port still the same im going to disassemble again ans check my work just to be sure but I'm thinking maybe encoder ic ? Or possible graphics issue? Because it was full off alot off dust and maybe overheating issue il need to confirm that with the owner worst ps5 i have ever seen never even seen a ps4 to be so bad with dust 🤣 any ways hope you can shed some light on this thanks in advance
Just curious I have a xbox one x (project scorpion edition) not that it matters The fan can get quite loud on some games which is probably normal as it's getting old but so far in the last 3 months on two games my fan goes super mad and then shuts down with a message of overheating I have took the outer casing off and cleaned it with air ( I dare not go any further)and inside wasn't dirty My question tho what could be the cause would it be the thermal paste that needs reapplying ?
Yeah spot on Lucy, you'll need to take the console apart all the way including the heatsink, and then clean off and apply fresh thermal paste. It's not too difficult and as long as you have a T8 and T10 Screwdriver you can completely take it apart. A T9 will work on all the screws too 😀
That would vary mate depending on the issue. For the PS5 it can be a number of things but normally it ranges from £100-£175, but £175 would be the maximum
I think Louis Rossman could care less about the dig because his channel is about teaching you how to fix your own stuff. Or send it to him to fix it if you can't.
@@TheCod3r I don't think it was a dig someone else said it was a dig as a comment. I watch you and Louis and I have the utmost respect for anyone who make's videos teaching anyone anything.
With your repairing skills you can put cex out of business seriously they are lazy the one in epsom i saw a guy using a xbox like a step ladder to reach top shef to get someone thats how bad they are not honest and dont give a dam about they consoles or customers

CEX shouldn’t offer repair services if they can’t do anything other than bare bones repairs
I agree mate
@@TheCod3r why didn’t people just send their broken stuff to you, Phil? Your way better then any CEX repairman

Surprised by the long sleeve. It wasn't baking hot there at the time?
I remember the day we discovered "Travis did it". A momentous moment.
Cex is wonderful. Send your kit to them foist.
They couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery🤣
Haha I agree dude, how's you anyway mate?
I think you should do an SSD upgrade to bump up the price and for better performance.

When you say you know their....... what you were trying to say is that you know their MODUS OPERANDI aka MO?
I changed the HDD in my Xbox1X to a SSD and lost my boot animation. Seems to be a thing when you change HDD.
It is mate yeah, you can get it back at the next update or you have to manually place it into the system update partition before reinstalling osu1 :)
No power cause by hdmi retimer? So most problem is cause by hdmi retimer chip
I don't buy used consoles from cex any more because one of their staff lied to me.
Was the Xbox One (original) and Xbox One S more reliable than Xbox One X?
How much do you charge for ps5 no power repairs?
That would vary mate depending on the issue. For the PS5 it can be a number of things but normally it ranges from £100-£175, but £175 would be the maximum
You don’t want them to be trying mate you lose work 😉 Haha cheers Phill
Cex charge a lot for repairs as well , but there no good
Indeed mate, they only offer basic repairs and even those come back a failure lol
I learned that Travis did it. Guess he was a butler in a former life
CEX should change their name to SUX, they couldn’t repair a blind person to see again let alone a console..☹️😡😡😡😡
CEX dont fix consoles, they know just how to change a psu or a hdd
Definitely agreed lol
That's exactly what CEX does 🤣
Yeah they just baiting customers to waste their time if the issue is beyond changing a PSU and HDD.
