It always amazes me that with all the so called "specialist tools for cleaning," and the high prices they can go for, a 35c toothbrush always works the best!
First thing I did when I thought something was broken was clean it, worked fine after lol I never just throw stuff away though, I break it down to see what’s wrong and if I can fix it.
A friend gave me a Switch lite because it would not work, I did a good cleaning, not even opened it, just a good cleaning of the outside and put alcohol in the sticks and moved them a lot, it worked perfect, I even sold it
@@timehunter9467 Same here. I've got a stack of retro game cartridges that didn't work. All they needed was to have the pins cleaned and they work great.
Didn't see this mentioned in the comments for the shorter version of this video either: the vias at 30:00 don't look that good, did you end up testing the game card slot off-camera? Either way, thanks for the great videos! You've even encouraged me to take a step in the not-always-so-wonderful world of microsoldering, and that has really broadened the range of fixes I can do :)
You didn't check the most important area under the metal can, with what I assume is both the CPU and RAM. The can will either protect things if it's kept the water out, or make things way worse if it kept water inside. Hopefully the former, which may be the case since it turned on. Nice video's BTW!
The ribbon cable for my power button/ volume button on my personal switch just recently broke. Lucky replacement is pretty easy and ifixit sells replacement for like $8.
Dude, I am a LOONG time Sub. (I've rewinded every vid, to understand) I wish i could do the repair things. I am Amazed By Your Repairs Brother!!! I like seeing these cosoles Under the Microscope. Wish i could at least Learn to solder one day .
Hi Steve. A RUclips person in Las Vegas recently his house burned down and he and his wife lost quite a lot of their things and the whole house has to be cleaned and build another house there now. They almost lost their cat when the cat inhaled smoke and got taken to the vet
zippo fluid works the best for this stuff it will eat any soda spills Gue out of ports without any harm to the port or contacts and trust me it works fast
@@1sweetree well i agree but so is 99% isopropyl and that is mostly used to clean flux and logic boards its just not recommended to smoke or anything that would set it on fire
My sister had a pretty bad house fire years back... Her Switch was smoked out completely but was and still is working completely fine, she cleaned the outside of the Switch but never the inside, I now kinda want to clean it lol
I was gonna try some hot glue to clean out my phone ports. Just wanted to ask here and see if it is possible or are the shorts I have seen using hot glue not accurate...

Love this channel, have refurbished multiple retro consoles and games using things I've learned here❤
I never knew how useful my significant other's toothbrush is!
They probably say the same about your toothbrush 😂
I feel sorry for those that sell their console for cheap because they think it is broke, but the only problem is that it needs a cleaning.

Some people have disposable income.
Apple iPhoines are the same. There lightning charging port is completely open and suitable to all kinds of stuff just like this.

Glad you're doing better. You look and sound so tired in this one. You keep making them, we'll keep watching them. Cheers buddy. ^_^
Prayers to your Health Steve ..

Nintendo should put a cover over the port to help prevent all that crud from getting into the port
That would be nice for sure!
I'm waiting with baited breath for the moist video to come out

I bet it works, but zippo fluid is flammable, BW-100 is not flammable.

I had to switch to only Hall Effect joysticks for my switch. The regular sticks break constantly. Makes them unusable. I fix it has them 😊
Did you mean to say non-conductive for the cleaner?
looks like their are too corroded traces on the headphone jack connector right at the via.
How many house fire switches can there possibly be?!
Hi mate, what's the part number for the joystick complete module please

In remission currently.. this is an extended version of an older video
Moist and loose! What am I watching... Lol
Woot first comment
Jesus christ looks like you were also in a house fire!
