    I shed a few tears when I learned they closed. Oakland just won't be the same without the good ole Dirty O :-/

    Sorry to hear about the O. I'm from northeast NJ, and have never been there... but it sure looks like they served up a nice dog!! I watch A Hot Dog Program every time it airs on PBS : ) Also, every show that Rick hosts. Thanks for the upload!

    WQED programming was the reason I ended up working for WJCT. I ended up in Ohio when the you know what started and the first thing I wanted to do was to check out the "O" since it was a couple of hours of where I was staying, but unfortunately I was a week too late.

    Over 2 years later, and I still miss the O. I'm hoping that someone else would bring it back somewhere in the city, even if it's under a new name, because I'm craving for those hot dogs and french fries right now.

    I shorted my lifespan considerably from eating at the O's whilst a student in Pittsburgh. It was worth it. Sic transit gloria mundi.

    My condolences people of Pittsburgh, I no longer live in Austin Texas but I still miss some of the restaurants from when I did: The Lion's Share, Holiday House, Spanky's Coney Island, Polar Bear Ashburns and Threadgills. : (

      I see your point but if it’s a busy thriving city, another similar place may open up. In New York new burger joints are opening up and they are serving better food

    when I used to haunt this place in 1991 the fries were curly. Or am I imagining it?

    • @joeheid2776
      @joeheid2776 2 месяца назад

      I can't 100% sure say you're imagining it cause their menu was so extensive they may have sold curly fries. I don't ever remember seeing them and the world famous fries they're known for certainly are not curly.

    It's a shame that the O had such a fragile business plan, that the pandemic caused its downfall. Reminds me of the story of the ant and the grasshopper, work hard and save some profits for winter (in this case a temporary closure)

    A victim of the lockdown hysteria. It’s a shame. Reminds me of some of the great hot dog places I ate at in Detroit and Flint. A coney and a bag of fries is just about all you need to get right for a long drive.

    If they should have kept it open, it would be nice if "The O" would serve Veggie Franks for vegan/vegetarian customers including U of Pitt students.
