Whooooosh! It’s roller coasters! French fries! And lots of good times! It’s a high-flying, double-dipped, screeching, squealing, scream-your-eyes-out documentary about one of America’s greatest amusement parks, Kennywood!

What a special documentary. I grew up in the 90s with older parents and a father who had a penchant for traditions of yesteryear. We’d drive 10+ hours from our non rural city to western PA every summer. My father loved wooden roller coasters, antique pottery and the warm, friendly dispositions of the people in that area. The happy memories I have riding the jack rabbit w dad are top tier and made of pure gold. My father passed away several years ago and I haven’t been to Kennywood since I was a child. This documentary is really sweet and an incredible trip down memory lane for me. I hope that wholesome American traditions like kennywood endure for at least another hundred years.
this is honestly a comfort video for me, I remember being a kid on the couch watching this with my old man. simpler times. Rick Sebak is a Pittsburgh treasure for documenting this kind of history.
I always thought rick seback made some of the best documentaries, this is proof positive. A real gem this is.
41 minutes in, that's my uncle! I just learned about this today.
Omg that is so cool
Most of the park is different now and many of these rides are gone, but I will always love watching this because this was "my" Kennywood. Meaning, it's how I remember it, I graduated High School in 1987. Loved Kennywood.
these documentaries are such a lost part of history; those were great days when the amusement parks were in their hey days
I am a former Disney Cast Member. You haven’t lived until you worked ride attractions! 😂
This is neat! "Kennywood Memories" first aired on WQED in September 1988 ... and it came out on video two years later.
Love Kennywood
BETH SNODGRASS IS MY GODMOTHER
Thank you for uploading the whole special, I would see this in parts but to see this in whole it's a lot of better. ❤
Love those yinzer accents
That shot at 4:04 with the Thunderbolt ravine pre-Phantom is pretty cool
My great grandparents took my grandmother, grandmother and grandpop took my mom,mom and dad took me,I took my kid's !.. since late 30's early 40's!
Ah wow great job on this, wish it was three hours instead of the one!
I try to watch this at least once a year.... That's how remember Kennywood park. Wish I could take my kids to this Kennywood park and not the one the animals have ruined.
Jesus 😂😂. Valid point tho
Haven’t been there in years, what do you mean by that. I know it got sold. You mean the owners or the visitors?
The Thunderbolt was the first "adult" coaster I had ever been on!
It’s interesting to see the props in le cachot with normal paint than black light
Noticed he said the river rapids were made by the same “swiss firm” that built Laser Loop. I assume hes talking about Intamin, although Laser Loop was actually built by German company Schwarzkopf
Wish the laser loop was still there
Its shown up at Indiana Beach in Montecello Indiana, not confirmed if its there for storage or if it will be rebuilt, but looks like Laser Loop will live on
45:38 OH 💩
This is the newer cut with the music changes
@Matt Hinrichs Have you ever seen Jim Henson's Animal Jam?
No-but if I find any episodes which haven't been released on home video, I'll make sure to upload them.
@@vhsdip Actually, a RUclipsr named Samuel Warwick is looking for them.
@@vhsdip Do you have any family member or friends that might have any Jim Henson's Animal Jam episodes recorded on 📼?
@@vhsdip I asked you a question, but you didn’t answer me.
@@UnicornFairy42 No I don't but if I come across any that have not already been posted, I will share it here.
