- So I decided to watch "587: The Great Train Robbery", and I gotta say...for as cheesy of a movie as it is, the overall concept was amazing. As a result, I set out to work on something a tad different: A music video that not only pays homage to the movie, but where an instrumental score tells the story itself.
This video was filmed in T:ANE and TS12, so the credits are as follows.

I remember watching "587: The Great Train Robbery" back in the 2000s. Brings back so many memories.
Well done on this. Interestingly, we came rather close to a 587 robbery in real life, back when the ITM was going under. I met an old NYC man at a museum event, and we talked shop until somehow 587 came up. He asked if I'd heard of the plan to save 587. I'd told him I had, thinking he meant how KSHC had stepped in to shelter the engine. "No, not that, I mean the PLAN to save 578". Apparently, a group of ITM faithful and some crazy railfans had decided that if time ran out they were gonna slip as much of her out as they could and stash everything in one of the abandoned industries nearby. They had planned everything out, down to signaling and blocking crossings. From what he said, they had just committed to it and scheduled a time late the next day when the KSHC stepped in. Who knows, dude could've been leading me on but I'd like to believe people are passionate enough about steam heritage to at least consider that as a contingency. Dude also told me he got to operate the Monon switcher they had at some point before it got demolished in its shipping incident.
My grand father was a engineer for the Nickel plate road he was sign to 587 for many years he run it to Michigan city and Indianapolis on old line lake Erie western it was apart of the NKP.
This is amazing work I''ve seen the movie they did a good job on it. You did a fantastic job recreating the movie in trainz. I love the ending when 587 arrives at the museum and there are a lot of steam engines there. 587 is one of my favorite steam engines. I also love the music used it goes perfectly with the scenes you did.
This was amazing. Full stop.

It’s Perfect!
I have this movie on DVD somewhere and for a low budget film using minimal resources that was cheesy as all hell. It had its own form of charm. This was awesome to watch
Nice video!
This feels like one of those movie endings that you couldnt help crying at. Beautiful work.
Beautiful 💙
I love the movie, and in all honesty, I like your ending better than the movie's. Showing 587 getting the hero's welcome it did here, as well as showing what happened to her later on is something they should've done.
587 was saved from the scrapper's torch.
If anybody here has heard about the recent news of Nickel Plate 587s auction coming up, let's all pray and hope that she'll find the home like at the end of this film and the future that we're hoping for, so she'll return to steam. Send prayers and good thoughts towards 587.
I remember watching this movie in late 2016 and despite not many people might like it, imo its a good movie. And I still do think it is as of 2022.
I cant wait for you to reach "587" subscribers 🤣🤣
Shut up old me
This is Based on 2000 Film for 587.
Yep It's was Based on the Movie.
Poggers
13:00 where did you get the souther ps-4 from
I'll admit, the 587 movie isn't 100% terrible but I do think it's still a solid film. At least it's not as bad as the one 1201 was in.
Similar to the train robbery 587 or what’s it called
It's made to pay homage to that movie. Yes.
Will 587 ever run again?
NKP 587 Will Doublehead with 765 When Restored
What's the route at the beginning? It isn't showing the description for me for some reason
That would be the base module for Trainman1337's Tolbrynd Peninsula route. It's available on the DLS.
“Sniff” that was beautiful I’m going to cry 😢 of joy 🥹😭.
Could you send me the cab you used for 587?
Uhhhh, no.
The cab is virtually attached to the engine, which you can buy on the K&L Trainz Website.
@@nickelplatestudios2162 I'm talking about the cab shown in 1:32?
@@N.C._22 Oh. That's not the 587 cab. That's the cab for the C&O Kanawha that comes with the game. I used it because it was more detailed than the "bigsteaminterior" mechanism that the older K&L engines come with. Chances are you already have it.
