I really wish we lived in the timeline where Nintendo realized they could have released Mother 3 on the DS. I can't imagine that it'd be hard to bring it over, seeing as the DS has all the necessary hardware to run GBA games. They could've even had stuff like the action being on the top screen, and the map and item menus being on the bottom screen, or vise versa.
While there is a case to be made that the DS Lite was able to run GBA games, porting a game from one system to another is a lot of work, and just not as simple as it seems sadly. Simply making both screens usable would've been a large task to undertake for a game, again, that just wasn't seen as being all that profitable for the company. On an unrelated note, thanks for commenting! You make great videos!
@@MonkeyNessTruuue 😔 It sucks even more now because at this point, it's probably even _less_ profitable to localize Mother 3. Also thank you, you make great videos too!!
2:27:40 I remember bringing this up on EarthBound Central when the rating was first revealed and I'll bring it up again here: The M rating here in Australia is the same as the T rating in the US. The MA 15+ rating here is what the M rating is in the US.

I'm summoning the goated expert of the mother series here : do you guys have that manga panel where a kid with glasses is getting a transfusion from a mother cardridge ?
Thanks to the NSO, I finally got to play both Earthbound Beginnings and Earthbound (Mother 2) for the first time. I now hold those games so dearly and they're some of my favorite things in the world ever.
Finding a connection between the Mother series and the Judgement series thanks to Takuya Kimura was not something that I expected and it made me so happy
Funfact about mother 3: The idea of the chimera lab where you get chased by the ultimate chimera actually came from another unlocalized game (not anymore since the remake came out) called LIVE A LIVE... there is a chapter where you navigate yourself as cube through a space ship while a hostile behemoth is wandering around the ship and if he touches you, you die instantly like in mother 3 with the ultimate chimera.... The reason why this gimmick is in mother 3 is because a producer of LIVE A LIVE also worked on mother 3.. Ps: Toby fox took inspiration for Megalovania from LIVE A LIVES megalomania....
2:48:30 I've been OBSSESED with this render/creature for quite some time. It's horrifying, and I love it for that. It captures perfectly the creepiness of early 64 models. Imagine playing Mario 64 and finding this thing instead of Dory. It would be horrifying, swimming in the waters of HMC, and boom, jumpscared by it. It makes me want it even more
"People see this cowboy guy as the main character of Earthbound 64 and people where upset that they weren't playing Ness." I remember way back then being kinda bummed when I thought the main character is the cowboy guy but it was because he was a grown adult. Earthbound to me was playing a young child who goes off in this big wide world, full of adventure that makes you feel like a kid yourself and remember your childhood. Couldn't feel that kind of thing with a grizzled adult who looks like he's seen it all already. I was glad to learn that Lucas was the real main character but I didn't know people back then were thinking they were playing Ness again. But I remember seeing a screenshot of the game in a magazine that had a kid who looked like Ness on a skateboard so maybe that's were the thought came from?
Many people speculate that the “Ness” seen in those early screenshots you’re referring to was actually an early version of Lucas or Claus merely designed to resemble Ness, much like how Ness was designed to resemble Ninten from Mother 1, but Itoi confirmed long ago that the Ness-like character seen in those early screenshots was actually only added in temporarily to better visually represent the series in showcases and promotional footage. On the surface, nothing about EB64 actually looked very much like a Mother game at all, so the development team felt the need to better indicate to people that the game they were looking at in various screenshots and footage was indeed a Mother game. In other words, the red cap boy was never intended to appear in the final game, at least not in any major capacity. Ness does technically appear in the final release of the game, in a series of screenshots displayed in a theater in New Pork City, so I do personally think it’s possible that the stand-in red cap boy they used in that EB64 footage actually might have been a legit in-game character model for Ness which was meant to appear elsewhere in the finished version of EarthBound 64. That’s just entirely my own speculation, though.
@@BareBandSubscription That does make sense. Thinking back, when I first saw the screenshot it was the very first thing I saw from Mother 64, so I thought Ness might have been in the game even if he wasn't going to be the main character. Then more screenshots came out with Ness no where to be found so I thought the creators changed their minds in putting him in the game.
When you see a video in your recommended that is in your favorite presentation style, of your favorite game series, made by your favorite RUclipsr who makes content for said series, and is 3+ hours long:
When talking about the connections to Kirby, I'm surprised that you didn't mention the ESP ability from Planet Robobot, in which Kirby has psychic powers, wears a hat similar to Ness' and the basic attack controls similarly to PK Flash/Freeze from the Smash games. The pause menu description even mentions Ness indirectly (at least in the Spanish version), and the Ness amiibo gives you ESP when scanned.
I’m late to the party, but I have two things I want to say 1, I find it funny how most of these entries are of EarthBound 64 2, MOTHER 3 never got official paper mache models because I suppose those were usually made for NES and SNES, because they have paper mache models for Plok, another SNES game.
EarthBound 64 is a highly sought after piece of lost media that we don't know much about. It being a 3D MOTHER game helps make it stand out from the game we have.
Idk, I kinda liked the original ending tbh. It opens the door to speculation. And judging from this iceberg video alone, a lot of people in this fandom would like that. Also the ending setting up for a future entry only to be scrapped is painful lol...
2:38:05 there are only two franklin badges in mother 1 though. You always have to decide who's not getting the Beam Gamma protection when it's time to face Mt Itoi lol.
Two weeks, 50,000 views, this is going to be a FANTASTIC watch! I'm not even a big Earthbound fan (It never released here until the mid-2000s!), but I absolutely adore the game's music and visuals, and I hope to pick up a copy some day.
34:50 This fact makes me really glad I didn’t know I could get more Flying Man. I just stuck it out against the Krackens and the Mani Mani Statue on my own once I lost the one 😭.
I always hear about people who got into the EarthBound series by SSB but was I the only one that found it because I watched the SaganYee Pollyanna video?
So, uh...about the 'paper machie' thing. If I remember, that actually was a mistranslation by the fan that translated that article. They're actually paper *clay.* A specific type more commonplace in Japan.
I recently played the original Mother 2 after having played Earthbound for the entirety of my life and man it was a seriously transformative experience. It really hits so much harder in the original script.
32:13 An aspect often overlooked with Takeshi's Challenge was that Beat Takeshi hated Video Games and viewed them as a waste, so a lot of the design was initially bad to get those negative aspects across. Which I feel is a nice contrast to remember towards Itoh, who made Mother from being a fan of games like Dragon Quest. The only other game he was ever directly involved in was Yakuza 6, which was only as a favor because the game producergame producers was his drinking buddy.
47:24 I'm assuming the most likely reason would be just that they want to show all the locations, and that it isn't necessarily a nap of over time period but to show each place as it is introduced.

I beat Earthbound yesterday, and I wanna say to all the Mother fans out there, in the words of Danny DeVito: I get it now.
Update: Got a repro cart of Mother 3, will update after I'm finished.
Update: I've played hundreds of games in my time on this earth, so believe me when I say that it's inspiring the constant sense of dread Itoi managed to make me feel with Mother 3. Also the music here is the best in the series.
There is a way to softlock yourself in forside, to be more specific the monkey cave. Give paula the pencil eraser before she gets kidnapped in the dept store
Actually, the game designers thought of this! It will be automatically placed in Escargot Express or with Tracy, and you'll receive a phone call letting you know! :)
Same when Poo disappears and you need...shit I don't rmeebe what key object was, but it happened

This is the cinematic experience I've been waiting for
I’m surprised that the Unused Track from Earthbound (the one that’s just a song from Mother 1) wasn’t brought up, or maybe it was and I just didn’t realise it because I have the attention span of a Goldfish.
Anyways, this was an AMAZING video, and I hope the Algorithm blesses it
Best video you've ever released, you should do more videos with this Malphasura guy!
so real
@@MonkeyNessTruuue 😔
It sucks even more now because at this point, it's probably even _less_ profitable to localize Mother 3.
Also thank you, you make great videos too!!

Hello Tobex Omega
They were way too sick of working on the game, to even think of a port
2:27:40 I remember bringing this up on EarthBound Central when the rating was first revealed and I'll bring it up again here: The M rating here in Australia is the same as the T rating in the US. The MA 15+ rating here is what the M rating is in the US.
the number of times for the past 16 years i've felt like i've been personally gaslit by nintendo to forget how much Mother 3 means to me...& that it's my actual favorite game.
all the way into today
I'm summoning the goated expert of the mother series here : do you guys have that manga panel where a kid with glasses is getting a transfusion from a mother cardridge ?
Those old unused final boss Claus background sprites are so unsettling. It’s like you can see the fear and terror in Claus’ face
I watched the entire thing! Congrats on 10,000 subs monkey! I look forward to more of your videos.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!!
I'm so full of Mother content, yum. This is a flagship video of this channel, Great job y'all!

Funfact about mother 3:
The idea of the chimera lab where you get chased by the ultimate chimera actually came from another unlocalized game (not anymore since the remake came out) called LIVE A LIVE... there is a chapter where you navigate yourself as cube through a space ship while a hostile behemoth is wandering around the ship and if he touches you, you die instantly like in mother 3 with the ultimate chimera....
The reason why this gimmick is in mother 3 is because a producer of LIVE A LIVE also worked on mother 3..
Ps: Toby fox took inspiration for Megalovania from LIVE A LIVES megalomania....
Nice video! It was really enjoyable and informative! Love seeing fans making quality content in this day and age!
The "sans is ness" video truly rotted his brain
2:48:30 I've been OBSSESED with this render/creature for quite some time. It's horrifying, and I love it for that. It captures perfectly the creepiness of early 64 models. Imagine playing Mario 64 and finding this thing instead of Dory. It would be horrifying, swimming in the waters of HMC, and boom, jumpscared by it. It makes me want it even more
"People see this cowboy guy as the main character of Earthbound 64 and people where upset that they weren't playing Ness."
I remember way back then being kinda bummed when I thought the main character is the cowboy guy but it was because he was a grown adult.
Their reactions are pretty strange, though. Very overblown, immature reactions to an early screenshot.
amazing long iceberg about something i dont know a massive amount about

When you see a video in your recommended that is in your favorite presentation style, of your favorite game series, made by your favorite RUclipsr who makes content for said series, and is 3+ hours long:
8:27 and now for the NSO, Mother 3 is available! But only for Japan.
what a behemoth of a video holy moly, going to take a while to digest
"You know nothing about the Mother series" is such a cold opening line, dude. Awesome video from the get go.
25:38 y'all couldn't have picked a better pic to represent the beatles lmao
Anyone else wake up to this video and wondered why Cybershell was talking about Earthbound?
Hi btw.
I’m late to the party, but I have two things I want to say
1, I find it funny how most of these entries are of EarthBound 64
2, MOTHER 3 never got official paper mache models because I suppose those were usually made for NES and SNES, because they have paper mache models for Plok, another SNES game.
EarthBound 64 is a highly sought after piece of lost media that we don't know much about. It being a 3D MOTHER game helps make it stand out from the game we have.
the white ship is the white dragon
Very interesting interpretation! Probably has some validity too!
I just woke up and I completely watched this video. I have never even played earthbound????
Thank god Teddy's death isn't canon, would be absolutely heartbreaking
God does exist
Why does it matter lol?
beacuse otherwise it would've been the saddest moment in all of fiction
Idk, I kinda liked the original ending tbh. It opens the door to speculation. And judging from this iceberg video alone, a lot of people in this fandom would like that. Also the ending setting up for a future entry only to be scrapped is painful lol...
I’ve never even played these games but as a Nintendo fan I gotta tell you your videos are so interesting and well put together
Another banger from my guy monkeyness great work 🎉🙏
Yipe, 3 Hour monkeyness video! Thanks bestie Monkeyness! 😊

2:38:05 there are only two franklin badges in mother 1 though. You always have to decide who's not getting the Beam Gamma protection when it's time to face Mt Itoi lol.
Thanks for the heads up, total error on my part. Correction will be added to the description.
Two weeks, 50,000 views, this is going to be a FANTASTIC watch! I'm not even a big Earthbound fan (It never released here until the mid-2000s!), but I absolutely adore the game's music and visuals, and I hope to pick up a copy some day.
Somehow I never put together that the machanised guy in eb64 was a chimera zombie. The framing of the scene made him seem like a giant robot instead.

"You should make Undertale 2!"
That honestly kinda explains a lot about Itoi's thought process on making a "Mother 4."

Are my favorite youtubers that talk about mother 😅
I always hear about people who got into the EarthBound series by SSB but was I the only one that found it because I watched the SaganYee Pollyanna video?
You are not the only one, I thought I was!
So, uh...about the 'paper machie' thing. If I remember, that actually was a mistranslation by the fan that translated that article. They're actually paper *clay.* A specific type more commonplace in Japan.
@@xX_Thaddeus_Xx Correct! This was corrected in the description 👍
5:21 There's another for SSBU via the picture of the Sans Mii costume on Magicant, the picture can be found when checking the Mii Costume DLC Eshop Promo Picture
I’m only two minutes in but I can tell this is gonna be a great video 👍
