      They were implying that more than just a person's skill is transferred by neuromods. Luka received a neuromods made from Will Mitchell, the original chef, who had a strong personal attachment to his award. Luka acquired this residual attachment to the award, even though he did not understand why.

Also I found that the Q-beam makes him fall out of the seat and 'hiss in pain' which will let you take the charge off without him attacking. Just additional dialogue and additional options for how to deal with him.

      Alexander Lev We don’t necessarily know that. A number of theories were proposed by the scientists aboard Talos 1, though none have been definitively proven. Theories include the idea that the Mimic retreats into alternate dimensions and displaces an item from that dimension, that the Mimic emits an electromagnetic field that convinces observers that it is an inanimate object (caused hallucinations), that it changes its own molecular structure at will, or that it employs "magic" (i.e. some set of rules beyond conventional physics).

      oGRYzki, actually if you don't kill V37, he kind of dies (or kills himself?) on the spot any way. So it might be programmed into the game as an only outcome, not taking in to account if you kill him prematurely. I don't know. Could be you're right though.

    If you said that 37 had telepath neuromods installed on him but were never removed, do you think he could've been communicating with the apex (the one at the end that tries to devour the station)? He gives a lot of hints that make him seem like he is in contact with it.

    • @ShadowPony064
      @ShadowPony064 5 лет назад +17

      Year late reply but had a similar feeling here. There's an audio log left by former Morgan (December Morgan afaik, as it makes reference to an escape pod) in a hidden safe in Alex's office. He/she talks about having a dream of something between the stars that's filled with hate, hate for Morgan. It's possible that both Morgan and V37 are having the same experience then.

      @@ShadowPony064 That's my thought as well. I dunno if that was an oversight on their part, but I found it funny anyway. 😜

    *Of course Spoilers*
    There is another possibility that might explain Volunteer 37 completely. However, first we have to ask, who is Volunteer 37? He is an extreme of human depravity and evil. He murders people (it's implied he also eats them), including a side character we have seen a lot and presumably empathize with. Another character we empathize with, Danielle Cho, begs 'Morgan' to get revenge on him while dying pitiably. He taunts Morgan at every turn, attempts to kill Morgan multiple times. He is physically ugly and has no redeeming qualities. At the end of his story arc, Volunteer 37 is helpless, begging for assistance. He is the perfectly justified 'victim' for Morgan to murder. So who is Volunteer 37?
    There is no Volunteer 37.
    I think we are forgetting that what we are seeing/playing isn't history. It's a simulation for 'Morgan' to make moral decisions in order to teach him/her/it to be more human...to have 'empathy for the suffering of another'. Many of the supporting cast were real, but what actually happened on Talos I doesn't matter. They are a cast to set up the moral dilemmas for 'Morgan' to get through successfully, in order to be trained to be more human. Volunteer 37 was created to be part of the test. Even his having some sort of connection to the Typhon, a connection stemming from the experimentation that wasn't his fault, is part of the test.
    Again, he is the perfectly justified 'victim' for Morgan to murder. It's the ultimate morality test...is it right to murder someone, even if they are your personal enemy? Even if killing him is justified? Will Morgan still murder Volunteer 37?

    Very interesting game imo. I put around 30 hours into it and got the real/good ending.
    Nowadays the most popular games are Cod,Gta online,Fifa etc. Every year same stuff.
    The first fifa i played was fifa 96 and last fifa 11. The first fps games i started with when i was a kid was probably quake and doom.
    Then military shooters battlefield 1-2 and counterstrike.
    You are slowly starting too realise that you are doing same thing over and over again with better graphics and bigger games each time.
    I rather developers try new interesting ideas like Prey,Horizon,death stranding,last of us,hellblade,days gone,witcher,god of war,cyberpunk 2077 etc.
    We see games like Destiny and Gta online with their bull.... Microtransictions still get supported.
    Then slowly single player games are geting micros Shadow of war.
    We should stop support micros,pre orders, season passes and dlcs before it gets to be the new norm.

    Interesting theories, but I'm pretty sure Luka was just experiencing (in a more coherent capacity than others more easily overwhelmed by the Typhon control) the natural end game of Typhon corruption. Like a lot of other sci-fi enemies, these creatures function this way: Consume and grow endlessly. Drone-like workers part of a collective consciousness consume minds until they can complete a radio antenna that tells fully grown Typhon in deep space where the meal for continued growth is. The radio antenna here is uniquely the Typhon themselves in this case, unlike other sci-fi creatures like Necromorphs who need an object to boost their signal to their world-eating pals. They spin their blood, or essence, whatever you want to call the part of them they make with consumed minds, into a large brain sort of thing-- the radio antenna; the Coral. It could have other uses, like enabling faster growth for a snowball effect, better collective communication. But the main use is a signal booster. Any which way you explain it, they're all fundamentally capable of some level of telepathy and are all connected to the Coral, as the Coral is a part of them, like an externally built brain, or nervous system as the put it in the game. But again, the main point here is the signal boosting part.
    I could have probably worded this more concisely, but let me wrap my point up: as the Coral's construction progressed, the neural functions of the Typhon increased, and their signal to deep space or wherever the Apex Typhon are grew stronger. As this happens, people with lots of Typhon in them from neuromods, *like Luka*, feel the telepathic traffic going through the Coral. Humans obviously aren't attuned to this traffic like the Typhon, so it's probably hard to make sense of it; Morgan only sees snippets of Typhon influence when modding Typhon abilities into his/herself, although original Morgan does state she/he can feel very distant thoughts from something I think is the Apex. (She/he talks about feeling something that hates her, very far away, when they're first experimenting with Typhon neuromods.) Luka has these mods already in him, so as the Coral grows, his connection to the Typhon grows as well. He hears more, sees more from them. Their voices get louder. The images clearer. Eventually, at the end, at the height of the Coral's complexity, even the distant thoughts of far-away Apex Typhon can be heard in his head, and he sees their intentions: the home world of humans being devoured, just like Talos 1 is now. I also imagine that once the first Apex arrives its thoughts are almost as clear as day to Luka. It's probably screaming its hate at any humans capable of hearing, broadcasting on telepathic channels its anticipation of its coming meal. A whole new species to consume. In its twisted, hateful way, it's probably excited. Talos 1 is just a space station, but the Typhon know about Earth through the humans found aboard the station. As the first Apex eagerly consumes it, I'm sure it's shouting to its brethren in the stars about all the fresh minds waiting to be consumed on Earth.

    I have another theory... All this visions during the game not the "Typhons trying to talk to you", many times we hear explanation that Typhons doesn't have mind in any way similar to ours, they are too much alien, and that we don't even exist for them. So there no reason for them to talk to us, they just don't need and actually just can't do that. No, this is real Morgan conscience in you trying to tell you not that this all is simulation, but that this last talk with Alex about conquered Earth etc after post credit scene is a lie too!!!
    We saw in this visions same scenery of Earth that Alex showing to us in the end with and without coral in few fast flashes, and Morgan's! voice (same gender as you choose) tells us that they lying to us. We know that simulation is restarting every time Alex doesn't get result he wants, so what if this last talk is just part of another bigger test/simulation, who knows how many times we having this conversation, maybe part of Morgan's mind installed in Typhon and that can actually perceive existence of time itself (Typhons doesn't know concept of time at all) starting to remembering previous "versions" of this conversation and trying to tell us about this. Plus Alex doesn't seems like guy who gonna risk his life trying to convince alien monster he himself created, he's to smart and calculative for this. And it's not gonna be first time when simulation ending up being part of another bigger simulation, and continuing this scheme can become the "triple plot twist"!!!

    i would probably go as far as saying, as a previous experiment, and as a being that was aware of the impending doom of humanity, the infection (typhon cells/neuro mods) do create a hive mind, as is explained through the story and those Coral Sites, openly admit awareness of the neuron-like spreading and growth.
    i'm feeling the story is telling you throughout that you're not "MORGAN" but you are a representation of Morgan. The Operator known as January seems to be a non memory and an external "typhon" consciousness. like most people who can precieve things in 3rd person, and can talk to themselves with opposing ideas to themselves... maybe the Typhon do this individually/collectively as humans seem to be capable of too. the mix of morality and "you look like me so i will preserve your existence" from both species created what seems to be, a dissonance in mentality and self awareness.
    Typhon act like a hive. they don't adapt themselves with external implementations. they literally combine with things they are vulnerable to or otherwise can't interface with. the Tech possessions and the ability to incorporate external power, are how they have survived. humans, don't do this. we implant, replace and extract things we need/want or don't need/want. Typhon become one with their assimilations (fire, electricity, technology AND eachother). Even when the Typhon mimicks float alone in space, they combine to make those Weavers, effectively eating itself AND not removing excess to collaborate easier.
    my point is. this divergence between how humans adapt and how the Typhon appear to adapt, are highly seperate and almost polar opposite. if we want to breathe better, we will remove lungs and put in different "better" lungs... along with medicine and treatment incase of organ/implant rejection and then maintainence. Typhon, just combine with it and anything extra (energy/material) is used as weaponry or defense.
    so, the cook... once a human... was co-opted by the Typhon and his knowledge/experiences are neurologically tied to the Typhon, forcing them/it to incorporate emotions, expectations and hesitations. without humanity being absorbed through subjects like "The cook", they wouldn't even be second guessing what they aim to do, and would never be struggling to compare "kill" and "save" or "do" and "don't". this is why the Typhon, through the cook, are warning you that this is already over, it's not real and in this very moment, "they" are lying and you should kill everybody. which, technically is true and in all fairness, the game should be played "evil" because it's the honest way to play. your internal instincts (game character) scream "KILL" while your external, human counterparts, impress cooperation and fairness. but your internal voice screams the truth.
    if there's a sequel to this, i'd expect this Typhon (main character) to become wholly aware of this deception and should be an all out villain (cannonically).
    TL:DR
    Typhon integrated human ideals and expresses them through human/January prompts while the internal understanding of its existence, is the true self. knowing this isn't real, the actual Typhon (the winners of the war before WE played this simulation) are screaming through the illusion that you kill and consume for the hive.

    Not sure if you know, and I'm aware this video came out shortly after the game did, but "mirror neurons" are a group of neurons that have a particular response when you do or feel certain things that, interestingly, also trigger in the same way when we see/hear/whatev another person go through the same mindset. They're strongly hypothesized to be the neurological basis of empathy.

    *Spoilers*
    Why overcomplicate things? he foresaw things that were going to happen to earth in real life.
    We know Alex was saved regardless of what ending you got and at the very beginning of the game January tells you that the station needs to be destroyed in order to make sure not a single typhon cell makes it to earth or you are doomed.
    Given Alex is on earth and survived and the operators are judging whether you are empathetic enough to take back the earth. It suggests the others survived too long enough to be turned into operators at least. So Morgan saved everyone and typhon material got back to earth, the guy just foresaw the earths doom.
    The real question is what happened to Morgan ? he is no where to be found. Does that narrow down which ending is the True ending I wonder?

    • @SomersKnightSky
      @SomersKnightSky 4 года назад

      One, Alex is still on the station in space. Earth was shown to be overrun by the Typhons and most likely not inhabitable or easy to inhabit by normal humans. Also, the operators could of been just recreated constructs of the people who died on Talos 1 to help with the process of humanizing the Typhons.
      Two, as for the true ending if events are to be believed, it has to be the Null-wave ending cause every other ending would leave either Alex dead in the Reactor ending and have no Morgan to get memory from in the Escape Pod ending. As to who survived, again hard to say since Pre-Neuromod Morgan was an asshole that barely anyone on the station liked and post-Neuromod fuckery was close to insanity by account of the psychiatrist especially if you consider the answer to the psych test to unlock said evaluation.
      Three, who to say any of the events in the game prior to the post-credits ending was real for the game canon. I mean the game start with breaking a simulation and end with a simulation stopping.

    Don't expect this game's story to be anything more than a Blindsight fanfic. It's interesting of how much depth you attribute to the game and how much you extrapolate, but it's futile. I imagine that the idea inside the writer's mind was simple: 37 was a murderer- most likely already unstable before he was sent to the station. The mods he had installed caused him to become sensitive towards Typhon and when the huge alien was travelling towards the station, he heard its "scream", which he interpreted in his own, deranged and rather poetic way.

    • @descoiatorul
      @descoiatorul 6 лет назад +3

      No, I think you have it all wrong. Remember, the simulation the Morgan/typhon character experiences is based on Morgan's original memories. As I see it, based on the the post-credit scene, the choice of what actually happened to the station and the typhon is rather clear: the original Morgan decided to save the research and his brother, but probably died in the process (otherwise he'd be present at the last debrief). After that, humans went crazy for neuromods (pun intended) and the typhon genes expanded to the entire population. By the time the typhon started to weave their coral, it was already too late. So Alex decided to hold a desperate experiment to communicate with the typhon through a simulated experience meant to see whether they are capable of empathy for humans. In that test, the visions are the result of the coral trying to communicate with the typhon in you, telling you it's all a lie (the perceived "reality" of the experiment). It's trying to stop you from psychologically connecting with the humans. 37, on the other hand, could be Morgan's personality trying to plead for humanity. The screams he mentions might be those of the enslaved Earth covered in coral, back in the real world present. We have no view of the station outside the test chamber, so we cannot know for sure if the takeover of Earth was hostile, as depicted in the experiment or a side effect of using neuromods. The thing is, there are clues that point to Alex and Morgan knowing about the side effects, the link they establish with the typhon, but chose to ignore it, as they were "too busy putting them in us, than putting us in them". I'm still not sure about the extent of the experiment scenario. Was everything fiction, including thee characters you saved/killed? Or was it actually closer to an interactive memory?

    • @IsmeGenius
      @IsmeGenius 6 лет назад +2

      It actually says pretty early into the game that typhon are completely unable of empathy, so the whole thing is kinda unnecessary.

    • @zachinsyxiengmay3164
      @zachinsyxiengmay3164 6 лет назад +3

      Did you just gloss over the fact the Phantom you are has both Morgan's memories and human neurons in it. As stated by Alex "We never tried to put what we can into you." If you theorized a bit on what Alex said regarding the Typhon's lack of empathy he said that "They lack mirror neurons, the ability to empathize with the suffering of another creature." So if you put two together, the Phantom you play as is capable of empathy due to the mirror neurons that were likely injected into it.

    • @IsmeGenius
      @IsmeGenius 6 лет назад

    • @SiggiHar
      @SiggiHar 6 лет назад

      I know it's been months, but if the neurmods added nothing to the brain, humans would be unable to properly use typhon neuromods, seeing as they use exotic matter ( to us, that exotic matter makes us cabable of the Typhon's psionic abilities, to the Typhon human material is exotic material, and makes them cabable of empathy )
