Some mistakes here. The no12 explorer is almost 3/4 of an inch shorter than the normal no 12. It is almost the same width, but the no12 explorer thickness is less than the standard no12. So some misleading info here.
This one doesn't have a convex grind, it's full flat from the spine to the secondary bevel. At least the one I have is, they could have changed it in the 2 years since I bought it :)
@@ZimCoSurvival I don't have that model but I'm sure ALL Opinel folders are full convex grind.I use them more than 30 years now and I have bought many for gifts too. From a quick research I did,I found that this Opinel,IS full convexed too. PS. You are not the only one that haven't noticed that Opinels are FULL convexed with micro bevels on the very edge of the blade.IMHO.I really can't understand, how people use this knife and can't notice that they are full convexed.Really that's a mystery for me,because it's easy to say a flat from a convexed surface. PS 2 DO you really mean you see almost like a scandi as you say on the video??
I stand corrected :) I just looked at it again and had to compare to my opinel 15 slim (which obviously has a convex grind) and a true flat grind knife to tell the difference. The opinel explore does have a convex grind but it isnt as noticeable as the other opinels, it's almost like half way between a convex and flat. But it does have a slight curve to its grind which DOES make it convex. Thank you for pointing that out :)
@@ZimCoSurvival I think they put some convexing, because on most of their folders, the steel stock is a bit thin,so they put it there to make the blade a bit stronger.I love Opinels, especially Carbon n8 but their tips are way to thin. So the only modification I always do,is to bring the tip to a drop point.(some patience and a file can do the trick!) Thanks for your responce, keep up the good work!
The opinel I have seem to be a flat grind with a secondary bevel, well that’s what I have made it. I suppose when I sharpen it with a ceramic rod it probably goes slightly convex on the bevel. I will continue to take metal off the flat and keep a secondary bevel to give the edge some strength.
Nice Review, however the blade lenght isnt the same as the Opinel no.12 this one Is 100mm (same as no.10). And It made me laugh when you say It isnt Made in China or Portugal or some country like that, since Portugal Is litteraly besides from France they also have rather high quality manufacturing.

4:46 the cat LOL 🐱
Lol! It's worth it.
?
@@ZimCoSurvival the cat running was funny. The knife looks like a good deal good review too.
Scandi? You probably wanted to say full convex, actually all the Opinels I've seen are full convexed with microbevel on the edge.

Not made in Portugal????
China is not Portugal....we have quality knives in Portugal, inform yourself before say that (un)information.
6:27 ugh... that’s an odd bias
It’s very unprofessional, too many mistakes
