I am using it (MC2G) most times, but usually I use my M3G. Both great with some limitiations. They both could have better romer scales but otherwise they are both great and love using them.
I had one MC2 that developed a bubble and got it replaced under warranty.

It’s based in the Recta DS56 I own for 18 years now, still functioning flawlessly.

The Suunto MC 2G suffers from quality control issues. Mine developed a large bubble after 4 years. Suunto charged me $25 to replace it, plus I had to pay for shipping to send in the bad one. The replacement also failed in under 5 years!!! This is unacceptable and their customer service is useless. I do not abuse my compasses. I have a Suunto M-3 that is 25 years old and is in perfect condition. Think twice before you buy Suunto.

If you use maps grid square scales are important so you don't need a separate tool to help calculate points within a square. My old Brunton Type 15 has squares for 24 & 50k.

I own 2 of these compass' . Both have 2 deg or better of play between the capsule and the baseplate. I had one warrantied and the replacement was as bad as the first. I'm kinda disappointed as I really wanted to like them . I now adjust for the 2 deg error.

Excellent video. I did see your first video and followed up with this one. Why did you select the Global model over the other?

Hello friend! How does the g2 model serve? No problems with it after 7 years of use?

    Good morning,
I just purchased the Suuto MC-2G compass just before watching this video, but mine isn't in degrees like yours is. I don't understand my compass with its bezel numbers. They do not refer to degrees. Starting from the North are 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 E 18 20 22 24 26 28 30 S etc. and continue like this until 64, then North.
What does this mean, how can you use the compass in this way?
The interest for me in this compass is its mirror, its magnifying glass and their versatility in general, but I would also have liked to be able to use it to orient myself! Can you direct me?
    Thank you so much
    Greetings

As far as I know, in MC-2G, the “G” stands for global, so make sure you are buying the right model

Hi, I notice that there are two versions of this compass. One has cm and inch rulers on the both sides, while the other version has inch and mi (miles?) rulers. Do you know the name of the two different versions, cause I'm looking to buy the one with cm and inch rulers. Thanks

For high altitude take a look at the Cammenga military compass. It doesn’t have liquid damping so it will never get bubbles. Also will never freeze up.

The scale on this ruler is the worst and red print becomes invisible at night when used with red headlamp, which is a massive dealbreaker. Some people actually do navigate at night in a stealthy manner.

Use an M7Rx with a blue or green filter.
