    I think it’s safe to say the answer is yes! His voice is absolutely mindblowing whether live or prerecorded, singing or reading.

    Aside from the reverb, it's really not that different. A bit more polished in the costume video, but other than that, they're both excellent!💙

    ...And the phone recording has an OBVIOUS lower quality, especially on the super low notes. I'd be super happy to make such comparison with a home LIVE recording with a nice mic (we know he has it). 🙂
    OF COURSE there are differences (production makes sense, otherwise one could record with just a phone and get those super-results exactly the same... Puh-leeze), and those low sub-harmonics usually require the singer to be very close to the mic to be recorded with a decent result. TO ME, these phone recording are all the more impressive as I now their limitations. 🙂
    Thank you, Huldra, one more interesting video. 🙂

      Agreed. The fact he sounds THAT good just on a phone recording, just shows how good his voice actually is. (which is no surprise, you can't be mediocre as an a cappella singer, lol)

      @@MorningRose370 I'm sorry! I'm a bit jaded too, and have been there. When Earl up and left without so much as a note to his fans, not gonna lie, I know he didn't owe us anything, but as silly as it may sound, I was a bit hurt. That's probably selfish and unreasonable, but it's how I felt. I was worried, too.
      But I have faith in Geoff, and Voiceplay. Their passion and love for each other and their fans is immense. They're like family to each other. Sometimes family hurts you, but it usually doesn't mean they don't care. We all have bad moments and choices. But you know what? VP's and Geoff's music helps me through a lot of rough patches. So hang in there! You have support from the Voiceplaya and Castellunatics gangs!💙

    I for one don't watch a live performance and expect an artist to sound exactly as on a recording, because of course there is going to be a bit of a difference, since with a music video you have to option of polishing things off and adding effects. That being said Geoff is on of the (few) artist that sounds amazing no matter whether it's recorded or live ❤

    • @huldradraco
      @huldradraco  3 месяца назад +3

      that's true for many artists. some sound better live, some sound better on recordings. we get the polished version in the recordings because most people nowadays are used to the polished pop radio sound. but just because it IS polished, doesn't mean he can't sound amazing live as well, which many people seem to not understand 😄
      you don't make a living singing a cappella live, without sounding really good live 😄

    That's reassuring, I always thought my subharmonics were super quiet but it seems they just need to be amplified no matter what! Just need to work on the clarity now!

    • @huldradraco
      @huldradraco  3 месяца назад

      Geoff's subharmonics are a lot louder now than they used to be when he started out, and still he lets the mic do the work for him to amplify them. Subs will never be loud. The focus has to be on making them sound good and clean, and then let the mic do the rest!

  • @ZipplyZane

    • @johndeeregreen4592
      @johndeeregreen4592 3 месяца назад +5

      There is layering, compression, and a slight reverb on the recorded version, which is going to add thickness. He has a lot of resonance, anyway; add in the studio tricks and that resonance becomes God tier.

    I actually feel his vibrato sounds much better IRL. There is obvious post-production pitch correction on the recorded version, which is a vibrato killer. However, it's the standard with nearly 100% of producers today.

    • @huldradraco

      Geoff also allows more of his vibrato to come through when he sings live, as he doesn't have to worry about post production or tight harmonies.
